This just shows the clear racism problem in this part of the media with infamously inaccurate publications like the Sun and the Daily Mail. Other young black players like Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford have also had this kind of scapegoat treatment, especially internationally.

One of the most brutal moments for Sterling last year was the FA Cup tie against Leicester (the game where he skied the Free kick). He was getting a lot of heat from the home crowd due to his missed chances (and missed penalty iirc), but since his arrival at Stamford Bridge he is a player that never complains and always shows up, deserves a lot more respect or at least a lot less hate.

I'm a Chelsea fan, and while I have my criticism regarding how he sometimes shows up in games(yes there's games where he absolutely forked out a MOTM performance), Sterling is easily one of my favourite players in the team because he seems to be a really nice down to earth guy. As for him eating at Greggs, flying on budget airlines, and not buying the most expensive clothes - it seems he's more in-touch how a lot of football fans and Joe Public go on with their lives everyday. I say good on him, he can spend his money the way he wants to.

Chelsea fan here,without Sterling we wouldn't have played in any European tournament this season,he carried us at the start of the season till Palmer started playing at the highest level in the team and taking the spotlight,for some Chelsea fans it's hard to recognise that but Sterling makes a huge impact whenever he's playing,he might not give you a 9/10 or a 10/10 every week but he'll give you a 6/10 or a 7/10. The media didn't show he's worth at the start of the season but when he dropped that performance against Leicester everyone turned their back to him,thats really bad for the English media.
