i was born in 1982 and when i was old enough to be interested in fottball it was too late to grasp anything worth of note of diego ( my first scentient memories are of the world cup in 1994 and my fathers ramblings about diego in the 1990 final - we are germans). my father always told me about him. i can tell you it was even better joining messi on his journey when i was a grown up, because you have a certain distance to things and see things more clearly. and i tell you something else: its inherent to human nature that records are meant to be broken. records are like mountains, they are there to be beaten. if i asked my father, would you have thought that there woudve been a better player than maradona, surely he would have said no. yet time prooved him wrong. time will proove those wrong, too, that believe messi is the pinnacle of what can be seen ( although as of now, he ofc is). its inevtibale. and we ( or me ^^) should hope that we live long enough to see the new throne inheritor play the beautiful game, its nothing to be afraid of. it took 40 years to beat gerd müllers rekord, as of now, im full of hope that i see the new throne inheritor xD

Messi obviously played at the top level for insane amount of time but I feel for kids growing up now who aren't old enough to remember Messi from 2008-2012 I've never seen a player who just seemed completely unstoppable. I mean he was geniuenly terrifying. The best defenders in the world had no idea how to deal with him because he was too fast and agile due to his low centre of gravity while having incredible upper body strength which made it difficult for defenders to physically overpower him as well He could singlehandedly dribble past an entire defense and score while making it look effortless and if he wasn't doing that then he was creating a chance out of literally nothing

I want to point out a few notes - Messi got ballon dor on the 2019 because this was the picture then - Van Dijk himself said messi should win it, along with Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool. You’re missing out that Messi won because he was phenomenal, uplifting a weakened barca team by himself And in 2021 the picture wasnt that he peformed bad in PSG, but the reason was he was phenomenal in Copa America, in the chart of stats I remember seeing messi top in all of the stats, search it up

Hey, argentinian here, glad to see you make a video on this man that made me and 45 million more of us so incredibly accomplished. I grew up with him, ever since I was a kid I was watching the beginning of this magician's career, and I swear to you, maybe for some he isn't the best of all time and that may be up for debate (which i think is outrageous but to each their own opinion), but the sense of being able to see something that you can't believe somebody could do with a ball between their two feet is incomparable when I see him play. Some may have better finishing, some may have better passing, some may have better positioning, some may have better free kicks and long shots, some may have better skills, better weak foot, better creativity, but none have all those attributes at almost the fullest as Lionel Messi. You can have Pele, but maybe he wasn't great at assists, you can have Diego but maybe he wasn't a great scorer, you can have CR7 but maybe you don't get that creativity and dribbling. What this guy is, is the epitome of the most complete attacking footballer to have ever graced this sport. The pure pride of being able to say I share the same nationality and colors as this huge sportsman is just something I will take to my grave as a gift for myself. I am more than happy for being able to share the whole journey of the career of this man, who brought me so many tears and so much joy. I love him

Wow, it's like building a team that can create chances for Messi as well as finishing the chances Messi gives you instead of making him do everything in the attack was the solution for Argentina overall & Barca post-2016 when they had Messi in the team all this time 😮

Alr it took me 12 mins but yea: "Messi's career is a testament to greatness, packed with incredible statistics that showcase his unparalleled talent. He has scored over 800 career goals, with an astounding 474 of those coming in La Liga, making him the all-time leading scorer for a single club. In the UEFA Champions League, he has netted 129 goals, placing him among the top scorers in the tournament's history. Alongside his goal-scoring prowess, Messi has also provided more than 350 assists, demonstrating his vision and playmaking ability. His trophy cabinet is just as impressive: 7 Ballon d’Or awards, which recognize him as the world’s best player, 4 Champions League titles, and 10 La Liga championships with Barcelona. In 2011-12, he had a record-breaking season, scoring 73 goals in all competitions-a feat that remains unmatched. After his transition to Paris Saint-Germain, Messi continued to thrive, contributing significantly to the team's success. However, his crowning achievement came when he led Argentina to victory in the 2021 Copa America and finally lifted the FIFA World Cup in 2022, solidifying his status as the greatest of all time. Messi isn’t just a player; he’s an icon who has inspired millions worldwide with his skill, dedication, and sportsmanship. We’ll be celebrating his legacy for generations to come! 🇦🇷⚽🐐"

I'm so glad that Messi had such undying loyalty to Barça. The fear of him Joining Arsenal with Fàbregas would keep me up at night. Inter Miami only won the Leagues Cup. They lost to Houston Dynamo in US Open Cup and Messi didn't play due to a rumored Hamstring tear. Now he will be competing in our version of the Champions League next year so it'll be interesting to watch. Amazing Video man. Learned some things about his life and brought back fond memories of seeing him play. I was told about Messi by an owner at a Local Pizzeria as a Teen who is a big Barça Fan. So I would come there to watch Champions League.

Remember the name Lionel Messi, because you're going to hear an awful lot more about this special extra-terrestrial in the world of football, some say he's the best there is the best there was and the best there ever will be. What he does on the pitch and how he conducts himself off it is something to be admired. There's been a lot of world class players playing this game but Messi is a step above world class and that's Messi class. I have ADHD and I can lose interest in things even watching football matches but when Messi is playing I'm fully focused..... I've seen some great players but Messi, the way he looks, acts, his height, his voice and most importantly the way he plays football make him such a great person to watch play and do well. I don't think i'm the only one to watch his highlight reels and shed a tear, he is truly incredible, you're just lost for words... Diego Maradonna, George Best, Johan Cruyff, Pele they are all being upstaged by the mercurial talent, the messianic figure struck with afflatus one, Lionel Messi

those 2 seasons at PSG were tough. you can tell by how he talks in interviews that he never settled in paris, didn't like his time there, clearly had issues with the fundamental values and project of the club, was being mistreated by fans after the world cup final and worst of all, he wore the number 30. as much as people wouldn't have liked to see a messi and pep reunion to drop 100 points in the prem, i think messi would've thrived under pep and we would've seen him actually enjoy football at the club level which at the end of the day is the most beautiful thing in football

There will never be another Messi. He is the best. The one and only GOAT. I fell in love with football because of Messi. He scored against Mexico in Qatar 2022 with that insane long shot goal against Ochoa, who is a really good keeper. I have been following Messi's games and everything since. I watched his old games, especially from 2012, and made me love him even more. I have seen Ronaldo play, and he plays very well, but Messi is different. This video makes Messi seem kind of bad. He has been through many hardships in his career but displaying them all made me think of him differently. He is still the GOAT, the only footballer to win 8 ballon d'ors, the only footballer to win 44 trophies (or 45 i don't know), the only footballer who has set more records than anyone else in history. Messi is a football genius, and a loving dad of 3 kids. I hope to see more of Lionel in any of his three kids, Mateo, Thiago, or Ciro, but even coaching straight from the GOAT himself could not make anyone better than he is. Messi has sparked so many people's love for football. Even though there are Ronaldo fans who multiply everyday, they always start with Messi. They don't see Messi for who he is. Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer to ever touch a ball. GOAT. 🐐 💙 🇦🇷

Should've brought up his early injury issues. That's what held his 07/08 season back where he had the best goal contributions per 90 in the world. Was plagued in his early years before making big switches in his diet. Yeah Maradona held Argentina back hard that world cup (those who know, know) 2012/13 is when the bad injuries that robbed us of record breaking Messi started. Was on course to beat his 2012 record but injuries kept holding him back that year. Fun fact, if you compare each player (but mainly Ronaldo let's be honest) with Messi for each season, not including team success in a team sport, just individual performance. Messi was the best player in 08/09, 09/10, 10/11, 11/12, 12/13 (yes really, and by far as well), 14/15, 15/16, 16/17 (again, by far), 17/18, 18/19 and maybe even 19/20. That's at least 10 right there. Oh, what's that? You want calender years as well? Okay. 2008 can go either way (yes, look at the stats), 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, very debatable that he was the best in 2014 (seriously, look at it in depth), 2015, 2016 (by far btw like possibly his 2nd best year ever), 2017 (easily), 2018 (easily), 2019. That's at least 9 right there. Just for anyone that cries he doesn't deserve the amount of ballon d'ors he has when he should have more if the rules weren't silly for it. "Why didn't Messi just play for less money" he couldn't? Did you do any research? He couldn't accept anything less than half his previous contract per silly la liga rules. Why don't you know this? Why do you think he was crying? He wanted to stay but couldn't? Did you not question why he couldn't? C'mon.

1.Why you did mention Sebastian Larsson, while it's Henrik Larsson who played for Barca? 2.Pep Guardiola doesn't even manage Spain. It was Vicente Del Bosque that led Spain to the 2010 World Cup triumph. However, there are 7 Barcelona players who were included in Spain's 2010 World Cup squad. David Villa also joined Barcelona after the tournament. 3.Lionel Messi's first competitive debut was in 2004-05 season. He played with the first team of Barcelona against Espanyol on October 2004 and scored the first goal against Albacete on May 2005. 4.Copa America 2016: It was staged commemoratively due to the centenary of the Copa America back in 1916. The United States of America was selected as a host. After a great success of this one, mainly due to the fact it was staged at the same period as Euro 2016, Conmebol decided that 2019 edition in Brazil would be the last one to be held in odd years and that the next one will be staged at the same period as the European Championship. In 2020, both Euro and Copa America were postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic, with the Copa America itself had its hosting rights changed to Brazil. For the 2024 tournament, it will be staged in United States of America again as a preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

Funny seeing your ending piece about Messi at Miami and thinking about how it ended up. For those that don’t know, Messi had an injury during 2026 WC qualifications that was exacerbated by a game against Toronto which rules Messi out for the season. Along with Jordi Alba being injured, Miami lost the US Open Cup to Houston and got eliminated from playoff contention by Chicago and Cincinnati. We’ll see how he does in Miami next year with Suarez joining MLS for the first time. Although Miami really needs to build some roster depth.
