Jerry is far from the only comic to have issues with Mitzi. She didn't want to pay comics and she only wanted newer comics so she could mold them into what she thought was funny. There was a strike at the comedy store back in the day because the store was selling out and the comics couldn't even get gas money.

then why did Larry choose to build a sitcom starring Jerry? He had plenty of other choices, didnt he? Yet Jerry was his 'golden boy'. The ratings didnt seem to suffer too much with that combination, either. but I guess you are the almighty arbiter of all things comedy-related, so we mere peons have no right to point that out. @@user-tg6vq1kn6v Totally. Most are so much funnier off the cuff on a show than on stage. They all cringe "crowdwork is the easy way out" and such but it's closer to them not having a weird act, why people like it. There is some strange code like Kung Fu in 1960 or something of "the art of standup" that makes them rigid and weird. On podcasts or doing crowdwork they are more authentic and funnier. Mitzi liked to discover comics and make their name in The Store. She didn't like already established acts who were independent and knew they could get spots anywhere. Seinfeld was already established when he met Mitzi soo she had no reason to put her enegery into supporting his career, he simply didn't need her. Louis CK is another example. Oh good lord. That show had a lot of amazing writers on it. Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld, Larry Charles, Peter Mehlman, etc. The idea that you think Larry was the show is just shitting all over the other brilliant writers that show had. Larry and Jerry went over every single episode together that the others wrote when they were there. Also, some absolute classic moments happened after Larry David left...the Yada Yada, the Serenity Now, Elaine's dance, etc. Because of Curb, people seem to have revisionist history when it comes to the quality of episodes after Larry left that doesn't actually match up with reality.

Just look at the fact that Larry David had his own very successful show after this and Jerry Seinfeld never really did anything of note after Seinfeld. It is true that the show still had good episodes after Larry David left. It could have been due to following the formula Larry David already established though. I feel like the people that say Jerry isn't funny and say his show is better than he was as a stand up might be the same that look at rogan as a great podcast host but not as much a stand up. They have a point with both. Seinfeld made a show that has stood through decades and still hits , his stand up isn't as well known. Rogan is known as a host. Personally not a huge fan of his stand up but again his show has stood through the years.

Yeah, I really hate the negative comments about Jerry Seinfeld in these kind of videos. There's always comments like, "Seinfeld was only good because of Larry David," "Seinfeld sucks. Curb Your Enthusiasm is better. Remove the laugh tracks and then see how funny it is," "Jerry Seinfeld can't act. The show should've been George, Kramer and Elaine." I don't know if it's just younger generations who are trying to be edgy, or who don't know the impact Seinfeld had, but Jerry Seinfeld is a legend in my books. Sure, he may not be as great a stand up as Dave Chappelle or Louis C.K. (his stuff might be a bit too clean or dated by today's standards), but that show alone is enough to put him in the comedy hall of fame.

Larry carried that show, if you’ve seen any of Jerry’s more recent work (like that ghastly Poptart movie), then you know I’m right. Jerry is an egomaniac and a narcissist. His takedown of Mitzi at the comedy store, instead of having a funny set, is proof. His interview with Letterman (I think it was, some late night guy) where he got super offended and went off because they had the AUDACITY to say Seinfeld was canceled. “It was the most successful show of all time! You think the executives didn’t want more?! Hahaha! Yeah, we got canceled! No! It ended when _I_ wanted it to! Me! The show has my name so it’s all about ME!” Jerry has had his ego stoked for way too long. People have said he’s funny for decades when it was compliments of other people. All of his standup is trash. “Oh his out vs. in joke is so funny! Hahaha if you wanna go out, you gotta go out to war! And then once you’re out, you’re worried about getting back! Jerry was right. Mitzi did need to have the “oh your a new comic let me take you under my wing” type attitude. She would often straight up reshape a comics entire personality or cadence to whatever she preferred the comic to be. Everyone there in that time depended on her and needed her approval to mentally feel good about themselves. Jerry was already selling a ton of tickets and didn’t need any of that. Mitzi knew this so she never wanted him on. Jerry buying that house above her was a serious boss move.

Was she holding a gun to anyones head? No but she also gate kept a LOT and took advantage of her position as owner. Where tons of comedians were desperate to perform at so would listen to anything she told them to do. Idk why this is shocking to you. This is the least worst thing she’s done. She straight up didn’t pay any comics for years despite raking in boatloads of money. She even attributed to one comic killing himself right in front of the comedy store. Not saying she was an evil person by any means as she helped a lot. But jerry was right. Comics are inherently f’d up people for the most part and during the 70’s and 80’s a good chunk of them had drug issues and some even stayed at mitzis house above the store.
