In Halo 3 you can tell chief felt defeated seeing Miranda lifeless in Johnson's arms. He wasnt able to save Captain Keyes, and he failed to save Miranda...chief fucked up the covenant with prejudice fs. Keyes was Johns friend, and although it wasnt his mission, im sure he felt responsible for keeping his daughter, Miranda, safe...poor john...his luck only saves him. But hes not lucky enough to be able to keep the people closest to him safe. This is a tragedy of our favorite warrior

On top of that, Spartan Two's are biologically immortal. During the augmentation, they were forcefully aged to peak human fitness (~~25) and had their aging halted, so they will outlive any friends they have unless they die in the line of fire. This is psuedocannon, so take it with a grain of salt. the reason they used cryosleep was to limit the Chiefs perceptual skew of time and maintaning his sanity (not that he was all that sane to begin with.)
@quentinhope75563 жыл бұрын
@@kinnlmk Indeed, so the things he loses hits harder and causes him to slowly become insane. Having the desire to end peoples pain...but at every end of an enemy theres the death of what little family, or friends he has left. His first loss was his childhood, next a dear friend who sacrificed himself to save the vessel john and the rest of blue team would escape on. As John drifted into space watching the purple plasma fires erupt on that very ship. And since then its been a rough road. Detachment from blue team to fight alone on a mission considered suicide, to meet heroes and watch them die to abominations, and the enemy that slaughtered humanity for nothing more than a lie. Then losing the last person, or rather thing, that made him sane. An AI that made him feel more human than anyone ever had...and he watched her become the villain. And die. Now hes truly alone in infinite. No blue team, no locke, nobody except one pilot, one spark of hope still driving John to fight on. Through it all hes beyond insane, maybe thats where his luck comes from

@@quentinhope7556 Show me a hero, and I'll write you a tragedy ― F. Scott Fitzgerald or Byron [not sure]. Beneath his unfeeling exterior is a heart that's breaking. @@kinnlmk I agree with both of ya'll, good points/quotes. It's why chief never runs out of enemies. Covenant, flood, banished, insurrectionists, moa's, etc etc : p it's because that's the fight everyone deals with, and can either succumb to, or fight for another day. No winning though, not for good, because it's the struggle we face dealing with our mortality. And it's why folks/characters like John 117 are so epic to us, they don't give up no matter what, they're a walking, talking (stomping, clomping) metaphor for knowing it's impossible yet continuing to do their best to finish the fight : )

@@dot606 Chief has a soft spot for all Spartans. Even Locke when they were fighting. There are many ways Chief could have killed Spartan Locke in his fight but they are ultimately "Brothers-in-arms". The same way modern-day Marines today will fight one another but killing isn't part of the plan. (Spoiler if you haven't played Infinite) In Halo Infinite whenever Chief found a Spartan dead in their armor he would rest his hand on every single one of them, as a sign of respect. Halo CE and Halo 2 definitely have aged graphics, although the anniversary editions did a good job. Halo 3 though.. Halo 3 still looks downright great, it was ahead of it's time in regards to console technology. I remember buying crackdown to play the H3 beta and being absolutely blown away by what I was seeing. Good memories. Go back and play Halo 3 sometime. I guarantee you won't think the graphics hold the game back one bit. 2007 was that unique time where games still looked "modern" compared to today just without the ray tracing and other things that are just icing and honestly aren't that noticeable. The art direction of Halo allows it to stand the test of time. The music too.. man. Imo the Halo series has the best music out of any video game series and it's not even close.

Lol not even close to Star Trek lore wayyyy to deep. But Halo lore is very nice, an aspect I wish the games would go more in depth on, is that the human government in Halo isn't necessarily the good guys, the Spartans were made to kill rebelling groups of humans. I think Cortana discovered that living organisms are corrupt and that ultimately a A.I is just and fair, this touched on much better in the novel for 2001 Space Odyssey.
@OhGodSorry2 жыл бұрын
No hate but everything you just said is wrong. Halo has around 30 books, it's less game than literature at this point, not to mention the movies and possible tv series. I love Halo's lore too but it's not even in the same league as SW and ST. We're talking about franchises that have been around since the 60's and 70's that have been growing in depth and lore since their inception with books, comics, tv series, movies, etc. Halo doesn't have more depth than either one, not even close. To say Halo has more depth than either SW or ST is to know nothing about SW and ST outside of casual fandom. It could not be farther from the truth. Like I said though, no hate. Dive deeper.

In real world Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (E-9) is held by one person at a time. What we have to remember is this isn’t real world. What would be reality for us doesn’t necessarily have to be the same for a fictional video game. Coming from a military background, it does irk me occasionally but then I remember this is fiction and shouldn’t read too much into it.
@beeman42662 жыл бұрын
@@LT489 That's what makes Halo so cool though imo. The universe is pretty heavily based on real life, especially the military structure and tech. It might sound ridiculous but aside from the slipspace technology the tech that humans have seems pretty attainable considering it's set 530+ years in the future. Is it ridiculous that they're still using a glorified jeep to get around metal projectile weaponry? Maybe. But if it ain't broke.. it isn't hard to envision the tech in halo as our possible future. Also it'd be damn cool to be a real life Master Chief Petty Officer.

It would make his character more interesting because right now he's pretty robotic.
@obanjespirit28953 жыл бұрын
@Trav Probably strapped them in or sedated them. That kind of little detail can be ret-conned or re-written without too much problem even if the cut-scenes we've seen so far say otherwise. We can just take them as loose re-tellings or even intentional deceptions on the government's part. As for Master Chief growing an actual character, I mean they could try to flesh him out a bit more, bit by bit. At least give him a favourite weapon or something. He's literally just a Space Marine boy-scout with no soul at best or a mindlessly obedient slave at worst. But then again, it makes it easier to implant yourself in the game when your playing a blank slate of a character. So it's a trade-off, i suppose.
@obanjespirit28953 жыл бұрын
@Trav Guess that's the difference between game cutscene storytelling vs literature. Logic takes a backseat when there's things like cgi to distract the audience. Wouldn't be very shocking if the kids had just stood up and fcked off. They could have at least strapped them in. `\ (-_-) /`

24:54 ok so a old ship with not many resources and 3 Spartans (the spirit of fire) can basically defeat the banished but not a high tech ship full of spartan 4s

I think its crazy that in some ways, Cortana was more human than chief was. She taught him to love I think.

What does Master Chief and the T-800 have in common? They can always make more high-tech versions of both, but you can't beat the original.

you'd think the master chief would feel used and have resentment for the people that took him away from home and made him into a weapon. what exactly is john's motivation? he gets put into cryo and wakes only when he's needed, well after a lot of his friends are dead.

Wouldn't it be something if thats what Infnites plot was? I mean cortana went rogue for "unknown" reasons ... and we ARRE looking for her with a new AI who was programmed to eliminate her .. 👀

Man, if only Halo 5's campaign was done better. Cortana going crazy and becoming the enemy due to forerunner intellect was a cool premise too bad they fucked it up with a bunch of nuances. Also surprised you didn't mention the librarian here.

What's interesting is that out of 150 childs 117 died. The same number that our master chief bears on his suit.

Love your videos, they're easy to listen to and great to see as well, not too technical or bogged down with too many details that can become word salad. I'm subscribed! 👍🏼😄

I actually never understood how they dealt with the flood threat on earth
@henrymartinez4433 жыл бұрын
When the elites arrived they actually averted a major crisis on earth since they have first handly fought the flood before and know how to contain it. As lord Hood said they did glassed half of the African continent to contain the flood while the human forces made a perimeter so the elites don't accidentally glass human populated areas
