Great review! I remember reading the Epic of Gilgamesh and appreciating the story as being the oldest known. I always wondered just how big a "global" flood would have been. There are other ancient cultures with flood myths (China being one) - makes me wonder if there was a continental one (like a massive ice sheet melting), various local big ones, or one really big regional one and the story spread out and was adopted by other cultures. Who knows, maybe it was possible that enough water vapor entered the upper atmosphere (vaporized by a massive volcanic eruption) and it actually did rain for 40 days.

I do find the topic of the flood fascinating! The topic is discussed in many of my Mesopotamian books that I read, and there seems to be a variety of opinions on what happens. Thank you for the comment, I appreciate it!

I’m doing well thanks!! Just been a busy last few weeks and I haven’t had a chance to read - so I have nothing to film! Book reviews should resume soon. :)

I believe in the Bible so it does not surprise me that nearly every ancient culture has myths similar to what is recorded in the Bible. The chronological priority to Gilgamesh is not really an issue in my mind and is not really evidence that the Bible lifted it from that story. As to the story of the wild-man, I really don't think there is a parallel, the wild-man was created wild and beastlike. King Nebudchadnezzar became mad and ate grass as a part of the judgement upon him to bring him to repentance. You could say the "made hairy" is a parallel to Esau. I think a lot of false parallels or "literary conventions" can be conceived as a result of the human tendency to map or perceive patterns, e.g. seeing a face on the moon or mars.

A very good point! Humans do have a tendancy to see patterns, even when there is none. Thank you for the insightful comment as always, I really appreciate it!
