He’s talking about liability, liability is exactly why they will never reverse their stand on carbohydrates and fats. if they did the US government the AMA, diabetes Association all of them would be liable. Which would mean the largest class action suit ever brought against these corporations. Could you imagine 140 million Americans suing them saying they got them fat, got diabetes, heart disease possibly cancer and a slew of other elements. I’ve been pre-diabetic for over eight years and not once did my doctor mention that. He did tell me to lower my carbs and exercise but to me it just meant I was healthy I can do better. Considering everyone in my family on both sides were diabetic if he would’ve mentioned prediabetic to me back then I think it would’ve woke me up to do something. It took KZbin to educate me and to look into my labs and find this out for myself. I’ve been on keto with intermittent fasting for seven weeks. My glucose levels are still jumping around a bit from normal to a little over 100 but my blood pressure has normalized. And I’ve lost 18 pounds all around my middle and chest fat. Keto diet is everything I’ve always eaten minus the carbs and sugars. If you can make that sacrifice and it’s pretty easy if you’re not hungry constantly then you will benefit.

Yeah, Just like Jay pointed out in order for the new paradigm to get established, all the proponents of the old one have to die, similarly, the establishment has to wait for all the people adversely effected by the old paradigm to die. Or stall long enough that everyone forgets just how devastating it all was.

Dr. Wortman tells it like it is. I like this more aggressive approach, very refreshing.

Great presentation. I used to be 500lbs+ and am now 200 and dropping by diet alone. I've started my own nutritional consultant side business and this is as good a primer to share with my clients as any. There is so much outdated information in the nutritional space that the inertia is almost impossible to overcome. It's truly about hormone (insulin) modulation and the excess body fat and other factors fall away once you know specifically what you're trying to control. Thank you.

34:45 The biases of vegan & 7th Day Adventist researchers may come from good intentions, but we don't have time to coddle them just because they mean well.
@LauraB.335

7th Day Adventists started being vegan because their leader had a vision of God telling her to stop eating meat. John Kellogg (who was a 7th Day Adventist), the creator of Corn Flakes and Kellogg’s Cereal, created Corn Flakes to dissuade sexual impulses and masturbation. These people don’t have good intentions. They are among the religious freaks who think what they do is best, so everybody should do it.

By the way it was Senator George McGovern who pushed through the U.S. dietary standards that started this epidemic NOT Donald Trump or those who supported his candency. I enjoyed your enlighted presentation other than the one misplaced joke.

I did get that and a good Trump joke is fun for me also. I do understand that being Canadian he might not be fully up on our politics. Here's the thing, the senate committee that pushed through the dietary standards IS (in my opinion) why the US, Canada, Australia and likely many other countries are in the health disaster we are in(me included). So making the joke he did detract from his fine presentation. I believe that Trump is the best chance we could ask for in government to make a real change to the bad dietary standards and look to LCHF which would make real positive changes to our healthcare system. None of the previous administrations seemed in the least interested and I've been paying attention since JFK.

Dr. Wortman and everyone involved in Adapt Your Life are well schooled in the origins of dietary guidelines. You are absolutely correct in that. Given his affinity for McDonalds, I highly doubt Trump has any interest in -- or even knowledge of -- the debacle surrounding dietary standards. Those standards are heavily influenced by corporate interests, and so is Trump, after all. Effecting change is up to us, which is why Adapt Your Life, the Nutrition Coalition, and other grassroots organizations are working so hard to do so.

Darla I have no doubt you are correct that Trump is generally unaware as I habeen my entire 64 3/4 years of life. If only someone has the ability to contact him and share this video any of the other fantastic videos offered by Adapt Your Life much quicker change could occur. It's my believe that changing to the keto diet would be the biggest positive change to the humans life and health certainly in my life time. My personal experiences over the past 4 1/2 months are more than my doctors can believe, briefly A1C 8.2 to 5.9, 42 lbs lost, reduced most of my diabetic drugs and stopped insulin completely. So I am a believer in Keto, Adapt Your Life, Dr Eric Westman, Diet Doctor dot com. I just want so very much for those who are unaware of this way of life to be enlightened. Changes to the governmental view will allow more doctors and nutritionist to provide the information for LCHF to their patients with out fear of negative repercussions the "Standard Of Care" officials. Thank you for your response, Mike

He just had to make it political. So tired of everything and everyone taking political sides. If u r really trying to help the most people possible don’t say things to alienate any who you might otherwise be saved from horrible disease and disfunction. So u sacrifice a lot of the good u might do for a few moments of laughter and accolades from roughly half the audience.

Please sack the terrible amateur videographer! Had to switch off at 31mins due to that horrendous effort which spoilt an excellent presentation for me unfortunately. And I never heard a single swear word in that time period but who's that over-sensitive about such things anyway? We're all adults for crying out loud! If you wanna moan about something moan about the awful camera footage!

Nice presentation. However I didn't like the Donald Trump joke because most people who voted for him are the working class they watch what they eat they pay for their medical insurance they try to stay healthy. Most Hillary lovers are on Medicaid and disability they could care less about diet cause the taxpayer pays.

You should educate yourself on which parts of the country have the highest percentage of people on Medicaid and programs for low-income families. You might be surprised to see how closely it resembles the map that Dr. Wortman referenced when he made the joke.

@@darlafitzpatrick8770 I am a nurse, I work with health insurance all day. I could tell you not one Medicaid or SSI patient wants to be helped or get better. They dwell on their sicknesses meanwhile eating cupcakes. As far as the map maybe. However he made this political.

I was happy to see this come up in my suggestions this morning, and clicked on it immediately. Then I got up to 8:28 That's where I stopped listening. So sad because I have always enjoyed Dr. Wortman's talks. I'm not sure why he felt like he had to take that swipe. The truth is that the blue states are generally the states with the most militant vegans -- you know, those people who want to outlaw your ability to consume meat. So, Dr. Wortman was exhibiting a disconnect there as far as I'm concerned. I no longer see him in the same light. Here's one thing I know: *I WILL NEVER EAT INSECTS.* P.S. I had to give it a thumbs-down. Sorry, Dr. Westman.

Yeah, well, if you actually study the deregulation of the food industry and the spread of veganism, the strongest influences have been the 7th Day Adventists (religious freaks) and Republicans, especially starting with Reagan. Not to mention, Donald Trump is a lying, cheating, scumbag!

I so wish I could get my family and friends to see the Ketogenic/Low Carb Healthy Fat way of eating as the way that can and will help heal so many illnesses the are suffering with. And that the illness they have are caused by the bad foods they are and have been eating for years. Sometimes I just feel like I am batting my head up against a brick wall. I have been full keto since November 2017, started investigating and researching in November 2015. I have lost over 75lbs from my heaviest. I am totally amazed everyday at how awesome I feel and my energy level. 🙂 My husband has lost 45lb by osmosis...but has begun cheating with bad carbs. Ugh! 😖 He was pre-diabetic but brought his A1C down to 5.5. His Cholesterol levels are still a big high...so his Dr who is supposedly now a Keto/LCHF Dr (said suggested) a low dose statin for him. I would rather he not be on a statin and I know that it can take up to several years for the cholesterol to level out when living keto. But because my husband is carb cheating I don't know that he can level out his cholesterol. I just hope more people will do their research and begin to help themselves heal their bodies. It saddens me to see and hear that people would rather take meds and or go under the knife to supposedly get relief from an illness that is totally a food caused illness ☹
