Brothers and sisters, there is a disease in the Ummah. There is a huge issue that we are suffering from. There is a big epidemic that is hitting the youth and that is the epidemic of pornography. Brothers and sisters, O you who believe - its not just, you know, the non Muslims, it's the Muslims, its not just the non practicing Muslims, its the practicing Muslims. SubahaanAllah, I was studying and listening and going through, doing some research and I found a research, a brother that actually took, ya'ani, some interviews, and samples. People who are going and frequenting the Masjid five times a day, people who are actually praying, people who are doing Dawah, who consider themselves that they are involved in the Masjid and so on, these people, some people are watching pornography. Husbands, wives, are watching pornography. Children, youth, students, students of knowledge are touched by this disease. SubahaanAllah - it's something that has really hit the Ummah hard. I was also doing some research, the top countries by name that are watching pornography, or is searching for the word sex, and a lot of them came to be a Muslim (country), I am not gonna name those countries but you can look or do a little research and you'll find that yourself on Google, that is based on the statistics of Google, the searching engine. So, SubahaanAllah, I wanna share with you two stories that have really hit me really hard, SubahaanAllah, and you know, this is something that is affecting, you know, splitting families, is destroying lives of people, people are losing their jobs and not just that, people are losing their Deen (of Islam). You are watching something that is haraam (forbidden), you are watching some images, some videos, that SubahaanAllah are forbidden and not just that it causes you to loose your Deen, SubahaanAllah, as if that'll be something little, but its actually, changing your Psychology - The way you think about sex, the way you think about the husband-wife relationship. The way you see the opposite gender, in reality, it's really rampant, it's changing a paradigm shift, in the terms of homosexuality and lesbianism.

This bad deed is hard to avoid... On the streets, half naked women, at school, girls with tight clothing, on TV, same thing, on the computer? Same thing! Even my cousins and aunts wear tight clothing! And I'm a high honors student taking extremely strenuous courses that require 60% of my time. 10% is spent praying and eating while the other 30% is spent sleeping. I just have no time to pray supererogatory prayers. I listen to Qur'an in bus and pray obligatory prayers, but that's it. :(

7 years later things may be different but if it is the same situation let me give you some advice. Allah loves consistent deeds even if they are small. As long as you are doing your fard duties then don't fret too much. Remember excessive (overburdening) worship is not apart of the deen. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Religion is easy, and no one overburdens himself in his religion but he will be unable to continue in that way. So do not be extremists, but try to be near perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded. Gain strength by worshipping in the mornings and afternoons and during the last hours of the night.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (39) and Muslim (2816). According to another report: “The best of your religion is that which is easiest, the best of your religion is that which is easiest.” Musnad Ahmad (3/479). It was classed as hasan by the commentators.

In Surah Al Baqarah it stated Talut was delegated as the king of Banu Israel owing to his wisdom and athletic physique, hence we must strive for physical strength and fitness

Salam! This is one year too late but I hope this finds you in a good place where you have given up this habit already. Please know that porn violates your soul. It takes away all the purity and the goodness inside you. Allah Ta'Allah gave every human a light in their heart. On the day of judgement, when there will be complete and utter darkness, the amount of iman(faith) we have inside our hearts and the good deeds we did will be with us in the form of this light that we will use to get to Jannah. Watching porn and all the filth, it takes away this light and hardens the heart until we stop thinking of doing bad deeds as something bad. Satan beauties these bad deeds for us and makes them look appealing to us and we justify it to ourselves. We make excuses like, "this is the last time. I won't watch it again." Or "just one video and then I'll quit" or "this isn't so bad. At least I'm not watching the filthiest videos. " And before long, you're doing exactly that and you spend hours and hours and you can't control yourself. You feel guilty and ashamed and Satan comes to you and says, how will you face Allah ever again? Consequently, you leave salah and all good deeds and you barely feel like you are human anymore. You feel like you are the worst person on the planet and when you persist in this sin, you stop feeling remorse and guilt completely. Giving up this filthy habit is possibly the hardest thing ever but with Allah's help, you can do it. I have full faith in you. Here are some guidelines that you need to follow without fail if you want to get rid of this: 1. Don't stay alone. Don't sit alone in your room where Satan can easily come and tempt you. Sit with your family and in company of good friends so that you stay away from this sin. 2. Keep reminding yourself that Allah is watching you at all times. He knows your inner most thoughts. He knows what is in your heart. He knows everything. Then, shouldn't we be ashamed of doing this sin when Allah is watching? The angels are watching too, those who are there to protect you and those who write your deeds. The devil's and the jinn watch you too. Imagine the audience that you have while you are committing the shameless act. 3. Remember that death is near. You can die any second. What if, God forbid, you die while committing this shameful act and your family finds you dead in the most shameful of positions? Imagine the embarrassment and the shame. Imagine how hurt they will be. 4. Exercise, go out for a jog or run or a walk to work off the excess energy. 5. Find good ways to spend time. Stay away from watching TV shows and movies because you'll inevitably find a trigger in them because of all the nudity and shamelessness. A good alternative would be watching the Turkish show based on Muslim history, Dirilis Ertugrul. 6. Be in the company of good friends and completely cut off all contact with people who enjoin you to do bad deeds. You don't want to be raised on judgement say with them. Protect yourself. 7. Whenever you get the urge to do this shameless deed, immediately block the thought. Think of putting up a mental wall against the thought or maybe visualize sucking it into a black hole. If nothing works, IMMEDIATELY do wudhu and sit on the prayer mat and seek help from Allah and tell him how helpless you feel. He will surely help you. 8. If you find yourself doing the shameless deed still, immediately without any delay, get up and do wudhu or take a bath. And pray two rakat of taubah and sincerely ask Allah for forgiveness. Satan will say, Allah doesn't want to see a filthy person like you, that there is no hope for you, that you are a lost cause, that the regret you feel is fake because you'll do the deed again sooner or later, why bother doing istighfar, that Allah hates you, that you should go and die. Astaghfirullah. And he can trap you many many more ways. But please my brothers and sisters, I beg you, don't let Satan win. He is our enemy. Our biggest enemy, he made Adam and Hawwa disobey Allah and that ended in them becoming naked. Let's not fall into his trap. FIGHT, FIGHT BACK TILL YOUR LAST BREATH, FIGHT FOR ALLAH. FIGHT FOR JANNAH, FOR ETERNAL PEACE THAT YOU WILL HAVE THERE. FIGHT BECAUSE YOU OWE IT TO ALLAH AND YOURSELF. Tell me, Allah, the ghufoor ur Raheem, He who loves us more than our mothers, He who protects you, feeds you, clothes you, gives your heart peace whenever you ask for it, He whose mercy is so much greater than His anger, can He abandon you? He who loves to forgive, He who forgave a prostitute for giving a thirsty dog water? He loves you so turn back to Him.

I understand you, brother. People are telling me "make dua!" but how can I make dua when it will not be sincere? I just don't feel a connection. If I read Qur'an, I feel filled with iman for a few minutes, but what happens when I'm finished reading? I think of sex again. I can't listen to Qur'an all day, I have HW and stuff. Then people say, be sincere in your dua. How does one just become sincere? I can't take it anymore; this disease is tearing my life and spirituality apart, but I can't stop!
