It's amazing. I was in Thailand and children run around all over the place in big loud groups, babies are carried on the backs of mothers, and families typically live together for life. They would tell me "mothers in the West hate being mothers, and children are left alone inside all day". And that is depressingly true. I notice the Thai kids were super respectful, curious and smart. The most notable difference I can see is that American baby boomers embraced the hedonism and consumerism introduced in the "hippie" movement and became so resentful against the "perfect suburban family" image from the 50's that they literally started devaluing children and families staying together. I often wonder why anybody would go against the suburban family lifestyle when it looks idyllic compared to this idiocracy we're now dealing with

@mailill9 ай бұрын
I think modern industrialized society has ruined maternal instincts for several generations now. I think it started with the idea that children should sleep in a room alone and have to adapt to a set sleep schedule, and then came non-responsive sleep training. I just learned the following, and many things suddenly fell into place for me: "Non-responsive sleep training has somehow become the “norm”. It’s just what is expected of parents, and it is considered the gold standard in many circles. In our current culture, parents are pressured to ignore their own intuition which usually tells them to respond to their babies’ cries and keep them close. Parents are also made to believe that they are somehow harming their baby, or at the very least not setting them up for success and teaching them the skills they need to be teaching them, but responding to them and supporting them with sleep. *A child having their own crib in their own room was basically unheard of for most of human history, and is still unheard of in many cultures. And a child being left alone as they cry to “teach” them sleep? That wasn’t happening hundreds of years ago, at least not on purpose* " (...) It appears that a cultural shift began to take place in the 1800s during the Industrial Revolution that changed the way doctors and parents perceived infants’ sleep and feeding patterns. This is when the medicalization of motherhood and parenthood took off, that is- mothers began looking to the advice of “experts” (usually doctors or other self-proclaimed parenting experts) to tell them how to parent. It’s interesting to note that this is also around the same time when the medicalization of birth began, and birth began moving from the home to the hospital. It was with this shift towards medicalized childbirth that more separation-based practices between mother and baby were also occurring. It makes sense from a cultural perspective because a massive shift in the way humans lived occurred during this time. There was a shift from living intergenerationally and getting parenting wisdom passed down from their parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles- to moving to larger cities to work in factories, which essentially ended the intergenerational living for many families. Not only this, but people were often very overworked and exhausted with the introduction of shift work and women entering the workforce, so getting babies to adapt to the family’s schedules (including sleep schedules) was a welcome new idea. Some of the first literature about sleep training came about in Germany between the 1830s through the 1890s. This literature focused on helping babies get on sleep schedules and encouraging parents to not rush to comfort babies, but rather let them try to resettle on their own. However, these doctors and experts also recognized that some babies will not be able to resettle on their own and that parents should not be rigid in their approach to sleep. In the late 1800s, there was a rise in concern over germs, and parents were encouraged to not touch their babies so much to prevent transmission of infection. In 1891, Dr. Anna Fullerton wrote A Handbook of Obstetric Nursing in which she advised parents not to pick up their baby every time they cry."" From Taylor Kulik "The surprising history of sleep training" (The whole article is very interesting, I just quoted a small part)

Yes, as a substitute teacher, and former private school teacher, I have felt that too. It’s bad enough when a child acts out because they aren’t given the time and love they need at home. It’s even worse when parents criticize teachers for not going above and beyond for their child, when they clearly aren’t either. In fact, it’s usually the opposite, where they make their child feel bad for simply getting the parents involved in the child’s life, or academics at all. Even though the child greatly needs them to. I know that as bad as these parents have made me feel, it’s even worse at home for their children. They see their kids as burdens. And that’s putting it mildly.

It seems theese pills lower the production of serotonin according some experts, it changes the gut microbiome.. Therefore men dont want to take "birth control" pill, because it creates gain weight, acne, and mood swings. When Tammy Peterson started to use the birth control pills again she said it completelly changed her personality, she had more risky behavior, because it changes the woman´s hormonal balance. Jordan Peterson also noticed the changes. She said that she noticed about modern women they have more risky behavior, maybe because of the pills. That the brain of the woman doesnt realize it. Maybe because of less serotonin. Maybe people should use meditation as a tool to reprogram the mind, to be more calm and happy. Meditation creates an alpha or theta state of mind which is healing. Or amybe women should do exercisea nd sport to increase the happy hormones as serotonin.

In my experience, the people in my life who’ve called others narcissistic are the narcissists themselves. And that’s why they burn so many bridges around them whether it be friends, family, romantic partners, business associates, neighbors, members of their community, etc. I choose the path of walking alone now because I have endured enough BS, drama, future-faking, gaslighting, outright lying, victim-blaming, invalidation for a lifetime. The narcissists will actively choose to stay around and stir the pot of drama while the real ones walk away from such bad situations. Narcissists love drama, even if they claim they don’t. They need to punish those who’ve wronged them, no matter how cruel. They need to manipulate others, no matter who they hurt. They need you at all hours of the day and year, to the detriment of yourself. Matthew 13:36 Context 33Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. 34All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: 35That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. 36Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. 37He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; 38The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; 39The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. We may wear the same dying flesh but our essence is not of the same Creator . Tares walk among us, hidden in the plain sight of flesh... they are here for souls. To separate us from our Father. If we search for meaning of narcissism in dictionary, it usually says "excessive" admiration for self etc etc. So basically the very definition of narcissism is an excessive or 'malignant' form of selfishness, which manifests in feelings of extreme entitlement, lack of empathy etc. When someone who is an expert in the field of psychology starts playing fast and loose with the very definition, by defining some contradiction-in-terms such as "healthy narcissism" (cells do grow but unless the growth gets uncontrolled you don't call it 'healthy cancer') it becomes hard to continue to listen. I wonder if the tendency to distort standard definitions of terms - which definitely obfuscates the meaning - without any clear benefit, other than sounding intelligent, has something to do with narcissism.
@purpessenceentertainment97598 ай бұрын
I agree with you. We are all on a sliding scale of narcissism. That is why it’s important to step outside the self and become present. Only in presence can we connect. We connect with ourselves during meditative practices or flow states, we connect with others when we try to understand their point of view in life and not think about what we’re going to say or do later. Slowing down can help us see clear. We’re primitive beings in an advanced society. We don’t need anything but each other. We’ve lost spiritual practices. The spiritual journey is what makes you find yourself. Whatever that road is for you, it is the path you must follow. For me, it’s knowing that my life is futile, human existence is a blink of an eye, and that I know nothing. I am you and you are me.

No, we don't live in an era of narcissism and anxiety. We live in an era of a system that forces us to have narcissistic and anxious traits. There is a difference between a root-cause in the population itself and a root-cause in a system that is forced upon us. Our biology hasn't changed since thousands of years, roughly spekaing, but we develop these coping mechanisms because something is wrong with the world, and not ourselves. We have to stop pathologizing humans and start pathologizing systems. Seeking for the guilt outside and not inside. Psychologists and the whole "science" of psychology is so flawed. Only 39% of psychology studies are replicable. That's like playing a guessing game. And people like this psychologist feel morally entitled to call an entire population whatever they intuitively feel like, based on some criteria that other people have also intuitively set, because psychology is a pseudoscience and there are committees playing god. Personally working in a scientific field I sometimes think even the easiest experiments will generate predictable outcomes, but there are so many covariates and unknown factors that are hard to control. True narcissism cannot be cured although the facets or symptoms can be managed IF the narcissist sees value in doing so. You cannot fix their inability to have true human connection and healing. She is telling a group of people who anyone in the know condemns, that "it's not their fault", and I assure you they already whole heartedly believe they are not in the wrong (even if they admit they know they are different, they believe often that their difference is truly correct or proper and everyone else is weak or faulted), aka exactly what they want to be told, what they are already convinced of, no healing will occur. However many relationships with those people may suffer as the narcissist now has professional support that "they" are not the problem. This is sick.

Also, the real connections with people will draw your attention off yourself and onto so much more….. but we are the psychologists 🤪

Made me think of the possibility that it’s a lot easier to treat a phobia, in theory, than a general sense of anxiety. The specificity alone anchors us to an object that allows for a discernment of a course of action. Whereas a general sense of anxiety forces us to identify feared stimuli that are approximate (so we think) to the actual concern at hand. Not that a phobia can’t be an approximation, but the fact that the feared stimuli can be readily identified is certainly helpful!

If we don't wake up soon, we'll all be singing, "Bye Bye Miss American Pie" - Welcome to the United States of America, owned and operated by Communist China with easy access to all from our Mexican border. 🇺🇲 Bringing manufacturing back home to the USA and protecting own southern border is going to end up being not only a key to restoring our economy, but to maintaining our national security as well 🇺🇲 🇨🇳 SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUES MATTER 🇨🇳 CHINESE TRADE WAR VIRUS MATTERS 🇨🇳 🇺🇲 MADE IN THE USA by US CITIZENS MATTERS 🇺🇸 We need tariffs that are proportionate to the inequities in wages, regulations, subsides, taxes and tariffs in the country where the goods were actually produced and or where we’re importing them from - Including country of origin, even when imported from another 3rd party country - We could then use the money raised by these tariffs to help companies build state of the art manufacturing plants here in the USA, which would create more jobs here at home for US citizens, which would then in turn increase our income tax revenue. Humm - Let me guess - Oh, here comes the Old Tariffs = Socialism / Trade war BS - Sorry, they're right removing them has worked out so well for the American People and the Real American Economy. Oh yeah right - Here they come with the old Smoot-Hawley myth. Smoot-Hawley is a notorious deliberately fabricated classic FreeTraitor excuse, based on an act from way back in 1929 no less. Hello it's 2024 - Why not base your economic thoughts on the Fred Flintstone era? We should not allow this mythical excuse to paralyze our policy making in the present day modern era. Nothing less than an actual tariff or the equivalent is ever going to get Beijing to stop gaming the international trading system to America's disadvantage. What about the tariffs and VAT that other countries use on our products? - Not to mention the foreign industries that are subsidized by their governments, including communist China. No matter how the globalist-free-marketeers and FreeTraitors try to spin it - Our huge trade deficits and indebtedness to foreign countries like communist China are obviously not in the best interest of our country or the American people. It's Not Rocket Science - Since the FreeTraitors have had their way of it, our largest export has been American jobs and money. Wake up America - China is where way too many of our food products, medicines and supplements are being processed and manufactured. Bringing manufacturing back home to the USA and protecting own southern border is going to end up being not only a key to restoring our economy, but to maintaining our national security as well. The people with all of the excuses as to why we can't, shouldn't or aren't willing to manufacture products here in the US are the same people who have provided us with the very same shortsighted thinking that's gotten us into this mess in the first place. If more people would have listened to Ross Perot back in 1992, America wouldn't be in this mess - Turns out he was right. We don't need homes full of cheap foreign products, but we do need jobs that will allow us to keep up with the mortgage, healthcare costs, higher education loans, etc..... - If it wasn't for all the outsourcing and insourcing taking away income-tax-paying American's jobs and driving down wages, we would have bank accounts cluttered with cash, instead of homes cluttered with cheap foreign products and buried in debt. Wake up America - We've become a consumer driven debt ridden society. Wanting trade and immigration policies that will put the best interests of our own US CITIZENS first and foremost, especially our veterans is not racist, fascist, or socialist - It's common sense, if you're an American of any race, creed, or gender. Let's face it, China fought a trade war using a biological weapon, the corrupt manipulative NWO backed US media and US puppet politicians. If we don't wake up soon, we'll all be singing, "Bye Bye Miss American Pie" - Welcome to the United States of America, owned and operated by Communist China with easy access to all from our Mexican border. 🇺🇲 We finally had a president that was doing something about our traitorous trade and immigration policies - But the corrupt manipulative media, establishment puppet politicians and their masters blatantly fought the American People tooth and nail every step of the way. 🇨🇳 Joe Biden is not just totally corrupt, but incompetent as well - It's about time that America starts holding globalist establishment puppet politicians and the corrupt manipulative media accountable. If we don't have the funds to build the wall along our own southern border - Then let's stop sending American tax-payer funded financial aid to foreign countries, stop financial aid to illegal aliens, stop importing cheap labor, stop allowing and enabling US jobs and industries to be outsourced to foreign countries and do not import foreign fuel, steel nor electronics used in our military weapons, national defense systems and power grids - Build the wall and guard the border using our drone and satellite surveillance systems to find and turn back unauthorized intruders - Also, hire our veterans and former law enforcement officers to monitor and minimize visa over stays. NEWS FLASH MEDIA PROPAGANDISTS and GLOBALIST ESTABLISHMENT POLITICIANS - Our leaders are supposed to be elected by the citizens of the United States of America to represent the interests of those citizens and the country itself - They are not supposed to be representing Wall Street, lobbyist, international corporations, the globalist-free-marketeers (WTO, NAFTA, TPP, KORUS, NWO), foreign citizens, foreign interests or illegal aliens - And it’s about time that all of our so called leaders start honoring that fact. One thing that became obvious during and after the last two presidential elections, is that establishment puppet politicians, the corrupt manipulative media and their globalist masters just consider the American people to be collateral damage in their game of globalization and cheap wages. It's about time that America starts holding globalist establishment puppet politicians and the corrupt manipulative media accountable. SPEAKING OF SCIENCE DENIERS 🇨🇳 COVID-19 PLANDEMIC 🇨🇳 WHAT A COINCIDENCE 🇨🇳 🇨🇳 Yes media propagandists and puppet politicians, we should all just close our eyes and accept the results of a blatantly obvious fraudulent presidential election, after listening to four years of Russia, Russia, Russia, false racism, media race monger and paid agitator inspired riots, the blatant cover-up of the Biden family's corruption, and then the false narrative and optics of a fake insurrection, just so the NWO Elites can keep making everything in China 🇨🇳 🇺🇲 ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ALREADY 🇺🇲 TRUMP WON and WE ALL KNOW IT 🇺🇸 Even most actual Biden voters with even an ounce of common sense. The corrupt politicians and media propagandists that covered up Biden's corruption and the blatantly obvious stolen presidential election are just as bad as Biden himself.

I recommend you spend more time with Ayn Rand with an open mind. Her core philosophy is about earning your success through creating value for other people. That’s how she (and I) understand the free enterprise system to properly work. You’re not wrong that her basic focus on “selfishness” does start with the premise the one must love one’s self and no undermine your own self worth in the name of other people. Taken to an extreme, that can be toxic narcissism. But we all recognize the need to value and love yourself to some degree. You can have a narcissism score that’s too low. Empathy and compassion can easily become smothering, toxic and destructive too. Erica says as much. So did dr. Drew. Two things can be true at the same time. We are all individuals with desires and potential and unique dignity that should never be used as an instrument for someone else’s designs and whims… AND we are a social creature who finds meaning in voluntary service to others starting with our own families. We crave community. But we are individuals, not the Borg. The Borg was a villain in Star Trek for a reason.

@nemurerumaboroshi9 ай бұрын
@@niibarnorsaba narcissism is a basic social instinct that makes us care about what other members of our tribe think of us. All healthy people are narcissists. There is no such thing as good narcissism or bad narcissism. In fact people with narcissism not working are sociopaths. Sociopaths do not care what other members of their tribe think about them. What Erica is telling us is outdated speculation about how human mind works. Basically psychoanalysis was shown to be unscientific long ago and that's why they don't train at universities. However, this nonsense still circulates in society and often repeated by scientists and clinicians probably because they have nothing better to say.
