Here is The Escape From Earth playing on Jet-Audio (By COWON) using the Creative Labs SoundBlaster 16 on VirtualBox 6.1.
VirtualBox is emulating a multimedia PC with a single core allocated, 96MB's of RAM, and a VESA Compatible Display Adapter. A Creative Labs SoundBlaster 16 and AMD PCNET Ethernet Family Adapter is also installed. Windows 98SE is installed and running with the UniVBE display drivers. The virtual display is configured for the following screen resolution: 1024 by 768, 32-bit color depth. The host PC has a AMD FX-4300 Quad-Core processor running at 3.8GHz with 16GB's of RAM and a AMD Radeon RX570 GPU.

According to 86Box, it is possible for you to have dark mode in Windows 3.1 installation, while that wasn't much of a craze in 1993, but at the very least it's here to rest your eyes!

I know what you mean. Especially during nighttime, the bright background cause constant eye strain. Yet, when I look at a dark color scheme, and then I switch back to a bright display, it feels like my eyes getting nuked.
