In 2020 the World Economic Forum (WEF) published the world’s first integrated and harmonised ESG standard: the “Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics” (SCM). This effort consolidated the complex network of ESG reporting standards in a simple yet robust set of 21 core metrics. This initiative served as an excellent starting-point for small and mid-sized companies to commence their ESG journey. Socialsuite has helped over a hundred small businesses start their ESG journey with reporting against the WEF SCM core metrics.
When in June 2023 the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) released a new set of standards to provide a single global baseline for companies to report on their sustainability-related risks and opportunities, many companies - and our customers - wondered what the transition pathway from WEF’s SCM to the ISSB Standards would look like.
Earlier this year WEF and ISSB signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create a “Preparers Group” to drive the collaborative work of the World Economic Forum and ISSB to achieve a comprehensive global baseline for sustainability reporting. The Preparers Group noted that they will draw learnings “from the World Economic Forum’s Stakeholder Metrics initiative, which has served as a ‘readiness tool’ for companies interested in preparing for reporting on ISSB Standards.”
In the lead-up to COP28, the Preparers Groups has released illustrative guidance to demonstrate the alignment of the Stakeholder Metrics to the ISSB Standards. This webinar will unpack the guidance with the aim to ensure your ESG reporting continues to align with the latest global standards.
