My main is a tank and I started playing ESO as tank, which meant all my first dungeon experiences was as a tank. Running a DLC dungeon for the first time as tank will earn you a lot of scorn and abuse from people who already know the mechanics and have farmed it over and over. Always specced 100% into tanking tho and never faked my role. Now I know every dungeon and do my best to help new players, especially for the vet hard modes. But that's after almost 3 years now of playing, and taking a lot of abuse when I first started out.

On PC EU I've joined a guild called "Story Mode" that has strict rules about dungeons so as to allow a full team to run dungeons at a pace that allows everyone to do the quests and enjoy the story. If the group members have all done the quest for a particular dungeon, we divert to "Chill Mode" instead where we all just take our time and wait for each other in the dungeon to find all the loot, explore and clear all rooms at an enjoyable pace instead of speed running dungeons just to get to the end. It's really a breath of fresh air, and it's a shame that the great stories and quests tied to dungeons just get skipped or sped through. It also kinda forces you to actually communicate with your group, and it makes you feel like you're playing together, rather than all just individually doing a job as fast as you can.

Surprisingly, I’ve had some of the best, most wholesome dungeon runs during this Undaunted event. Lots of laughs with randoms. Lots of deaths due to unknown mechs. Epic confusion in Frostvault with the mechanical mice. I’ve also had some amazing tanks as well - my favourite was the one chap who introduced himself as our tank for the dungeon and went on to give information. It was like being on a tour with a side of mass goblin murder. I loved it. Of course, it’s not all wonderfully pleasant, but it hasn’t been as horrible as I was expecting. I think my biggest peeve is when people don’t wait for everyone to be loaded in before running off ahead. I don’t mind speed-running dungeons. I’m happy to do it if that’s what we all want. Even when I’m doing the quest, I’m not a lore reader. Accept; skip; skip; complete. But for crying out loud, as someone with sub-par net connection (and ok, probably too many add-ons), let everyone load in properly before you start speed-running off. Trying to play catch-up while on a character with a standard sprint speed is already annoying enough. But when you’re left running through the aggroed mobs throwing down traps and shooting you in the back with arrows? It’s a nightmare, and I end up using half my resources to sprint and CC immunity myself and then tumble into the first boss fight completely unprepared.

I wish I could put more time into ESO but there’s only so much a casual player could enjoy. I’ve tried to get a better understanding of the game and try to learn what makes builds viable and such. But I find it to be overwhelming and boring. I wish there was a content creator that made quick and simple videos that don’t drag on for 40+ minutes.

On the speed running complaint-it's totally understandable if some want to speed run. The problem for many of us when this happens is we load into a dungeon, and right away all the monsters are forming a pack growing larger immediately behind the lead runner. As soon as we try to catch up, they all aggro on our character at once. Anyone who wasn't in the initial clump of runners gets instakilled. This is worse with dungeons like Blackheart Haven, with tons of ranged monsters who will focus-fire on whoever is the slowest if the party doesn't stay together (running or not). One solution would be a Run Ready Check: someone messages in Group "Are you ready to race for the final boss?". Party confirms, everyone's good.

@@Arttea the problem with this is that often people start to run immediately upon zoning in and making a plan doesn't exist. Everyone has different zone load times and those who come in a few seconds slower get pounded with all of the agro. The only solution is for everyone to wait just a handful of seconds longer to make sure everyone is ready ... but that would rely on people playing with a modicum of respect for others.
@Valeryu_Minka
@Valeryu_Minka 2 жыл бұрын
Yes!! This is what I just commented on. I'm more than happy to race through things (time is money!) but at least let us all load in properly first. It's only going to add 10 seconds or so to the start of the speed-run, but it's going to save time later. These people don't seem to realize that a DPS arriving at a boss fight not actually ready to DPS (because they've been getting shot in the back the whole way there, and popped pots to keep them going, and is still playing resource catch-up) is going to slow things down even more.

I used to be a pvp main. One of the vet dungeons I remember doing before getting into PVE big time was ICP about 6 years ago where I ran into some players who I noticed were just burning through bosses significantly faster than I have seen before. So I asked them how my DPS was, they said not great. Instead of getting upset - I looked into ways on how to improve my DPS by looking online and asking people. Now that I am a pretty alright DPS and have pretty much all of the trial and dungeon trifectas in the game when I try to help others, the majority of them who ask for help, they seem to be unable to take any advice they are given. Some people in MMO's just like life I feel are unable to be helped or maybe you have to put in an insane amount of effort in order to help them that maybe it's not worth it? Even though I have a lot of really good friends in this game who are S Teir PvE, I would rather pug vet dlc dungeons on a tank to help players learn mechanics. The problem with this is that 50% of the time you are queued with players who honestly are just hoping for a free carry and want to put in minimal effort or not learn simple game mechanics and will get upset the minute you try to help them, they really have no business even being in vet DLCs and probably would have a hard time with base vet dungeons if not being carried. Honestly I have no problem helping people who are willing through a 20 minute Kjalnar fight in Unhallowed grave, resurrecting the entire team 10 times, as long as they are learning, but these players usually are outputting ~20% of the total DPS they should actually be doing in the dungeon and stand in the red AOEs and they are queued up for DLC vet dungeons and are oblivious to how they are performing, they have zero awareness. I can't help these people even if I wanted to.
@dredgendorchadas6770
@dredgendorchadas6770 2 жыл бұрын
This problem isn't unique to ESO, it's in all games. It's one of the reasons why simple "easy" games are so popular (such as COD, battlefield, and such games) the players don't want to hear what they're doing wrong and just want to get all the "good" stuff. It's so bad that some people can make money off of account recoveries! That being said, someone who does take the advice, even if they implement it wrong or are still getting stuff wrong, are the players who you want near you. Those players are the ones who will get better, don't give up on them because only then will they give up.

@@0xskar if you play as a tank in this fight you must keep aggro of Deadroth he summons on you. The longer the fight goes the more Daerdroth he summons. If you have competent DDs they will kill him quickly (I'm quite sure it is possible to burn him down quickly enough to have just 1 daedroth). If you have bad DDs you will have a horde of Daedroth you need to keep on yourself. In decent 4 player groups, healers and tanks should account for around 5% of the dps so there were some people not pulling their weight and most likely not optimizing their builds to do their job so I would call that a fake dps. My favorite flavor of the fake tank/healer is the one who tries to gaslight the group as to why we aren't able to complete the content. You keep dying from a powerful dot mechanic? It's cuz you don't have enough healing, did you really expect someone else to heal you? You seriously need someone to carry you? Slot your own. The boss keeps killing the group? That's your fault for not dodge rolling the heavy attacks. What? The fight is taking longer than it should because there's noone to debuff the boss and keep it still? Well if your DPS was as good as the fake tank's and not reliant on ground dots we could clear this easy. The world revolves around me you expect me to have to wait in queue for 5 minutes like you? Lol nah I'll just fake tank and if this group falls apart I'll hop in queue again until I find a group that does work.

I just got back into ESO after a year and a half absence due to me having to budget and not able to afford ESO+ anymore. Now that I'm back, I do see why I loved it so much. What mind-numbing repetition it is that just makes me feel content. Rejoined my old trading guild and I'm making money, hand over fist. But wow, the amount of fake roles I've seen. Not even new players. I've been around since beta and I can still tell the difference between who is a newbie learning the ropes and who is just a highly skilled yet arrogant vet. I've run into fake roles before, but they were rare. I've been actually actively tracking my times and getting a ratio down, but I'm sitting close to a 72% of the dungeons I've been queuing up in to have a fake role (more data needed). If it's an easy enough base dungeon, okay, I might stick around if this player doesn't run too far ahead. But if they're half way across the map before I even get a chance to load in, I'm not sticking around. I honestly prefer to play with newbies who don't know what they're doing over some self-inflated ego. I'm very patient and I have fun showing players the ropes. I like to give them advice, maybe craft some gear for them for free, and just let them know there's players out there who do respect their time and want them to have fun. My expectations for PUGs are low and they're simply just thus: You que with random people, show a little respect for them. They're also people, all with their own stories and problems. Stick together and try to support one another as best you can. You don't have to be great or amazing, just do your best to show that little bit of respect.

Ah yes toxic interactions in dungeons and such. I've found myself defending and teaching mechs to players who are either having a hard time or are just new like every day. Everyone wants to kick the person who doesn't know what's going on instead of telling them what's up which btw would be more efficient than waiting 15 minutes or more to get another player. I understand getting frustrated but berating someone isn't going to make them play any better.

When you understand boss meh everything becomes easy mode. For random que I always use my tank and sometimes is very frustrating. Like when low level players playing something they are not ready, or totally ignoring meh, or run in front of me and making chaos for me with adds..and even worse is when you trying to explain someone boss meh in dlc content and than he just leave group. Public groups are worse, best to play in prime time so you actually have chances to find good groups.

Thank you for making this video. I played Vanilla on PS4 back in the day and was very active before the Tamriel One update. After they changed Vet 16 to CP160 a lot of things changed, a lot for the better. But as someone who WAS the dungeon runner for my guild, I was deeps/heals back then and have always loved the slash roles since. I am forever trying to do more GROUP oriented things. I was CC and AoE damage and heals with my original Sorc. I had a Wood Elf Nightblade that was magicka heals. Lol. Once I started leaning into classes and started doing more Vet content I started getting more and more into the harder content and getting better gear. Then I lost interest... I recently started back up and fell in love with the Necro class. I made another Deeps/healer character and loved him so much I made a healer tank. On both Necros I provide so much group function it's insane. My healer has more deeps than most randoms, so if we're just taking down trash mobs I can clear the room and use the bodies to keep my team up. But deeps get mad I'm out deepsing them at heals and they leave. If I'm tank healing the group on Vet content the healer gets mad and quits. I've had deeps mad that tank isn't doing more deeps and asked me why I have group heals in my "kit". I've joined Vet content as tank with an Oakensoul build queued as Healer calling me trash cuz we wiped on the first boss cuz he queued as heals with one mediocre burst heal. Frequently even on Normal the deeps can't stand I am trying to keep the healer and other deeps alive before they can race me to the boss, skipping all the chests and heavy sacks in the dungeon. Even when I go to random Vet content the supposed HEALER runs off and grabs aggro and is mad at the tank for not speed running. If you're on Sony that wants good heals and good tank, lmk!

Yeah I tend to stay in my lane and avoid dungeon/trial groups these days on ESO for 3 reasons... Reason 1:Grouping is too much hassle. Due to the hours im available. I found myself either waiting endlessly for trusted guildies to sign on or praying to the divines that I get smooth PuG run. Reason 2: Bullshit and drama. Being a Brit on EU, I've had my fair share of times where I have been randomly vote kicked late into a dungeon by 3 French or German players, despite playing flawlessly and not being rude or obnoxious. I also hate seeing and hearing people sperg out and being toxic to a specific group member for failing a mechanic. Some of the shit I heard(not aimed at me) when I used to PuG'd Vet Mazzatun when it was new still sticks with me today. Reason 3: Everyone knows that fashion and player housing is the real end game.

Haha, I fake tanked during this entire event, haven't had a complaint yet. 100K+ DPS on Normal Run, typically means things don't live long enough to kill anyone in the group. And I am slotting inner rage to taunt the bosses and stuff on me. I can keep myself alive and I pull the heat off of any noobs. I think I died once during the entire event so far. FWIW, I'm only doing this once per day to get my tickets, and I'm not fake tanking after that one run. I'll run with guildies when the ask for it, but queue as DPS (unless asked to.) And I'm not fake tanking in a vet dungeon.

Okay I understand everything that you're saying but still would like to make this point. If you queue up as a Healer heal if you queue up as a tank tank. The DPS really does not matter. Unless you're in trials! The most annoying thing is cueing for DPS having a glass Cannon build and your healer is busy doing damage to the boss instead of healing. The same could be said about tanking but if you have a Healer that's dedicated to Healing even the crappiest tank can tank. LOL But that's just my opinion and it's not going to change anything

I fake tank on content that doesn't require a tank, example is nfg1(normal fungal grotto 1). But normally on most vet content i wouldn't suggest it. Depends on what vet content it is and I may queue as a healer as a dps but only when I can throw out a solid heal. Example of this is as a sorc with twilight matriarch. It all varies and depends on what kind of healing will be required but normally I like 3 dps and 1 tank.

the solution is to have strict tank and healer and dps role requirements with item level requirements and make all sets specified for said roles like ffxiv.. it may take away from the copium sense of freedom eso provides, which isn’t true especially now that you really have to play a certain way to perform decently with this crap update. the game hasn’t been doing amazing with patch 35, the constant influx of new players and the nonexistent sense of direction when it comes to proper gearing and role requirement.. it may need to stop acting sandbox and implement some theme park elements to preserve a healthier community and to have a shared guideline and group content etiquette all players may agree upon. handholding isn’t a bad thing in this case, at least when it comes to group content, otherwise you can play the game naked if you want to

I would definitely agree that finding a guild with the same interests is probably the best way to go in terms of wanting to get through content. I say probably because (and this is only on the psn side of the game) I've joined countless different guilds that have specific mentalities when it comes to running group content (veteran especially), and at least 50% of them (even some who were just fun made guilds) had a click of people who catered towards meta-related topics, such as having a class, skill, and gear set up to join this and that, already having knowledge on this and that without needing help, and etc. You could just go find a new guild, but who's to say other guilds aren't like that; only one way to find out really? Point is that joining guilds to find like-minded individuals most likely works out best in the long run, but may eventually backfire the more you realize that the guild you joined may be full of secretive toxicity. Other than that, I mainly play as a tank (an actual tank) mostly to deal with the issue of "fake tanking" (a dungeon goes a lot smoother when you actually have someone who can manage to stay put while everyone focuses the taunted target(s) down and knows how to survive while doing so). I also do prefer to have a healer in groups as it really helps out survivability and relieves a lot of stress for the tank and dps, but sometimes I get backlash for having that sort of mentality in my groups verses a group who runs 3 dps and 1 tank. Funny thing is that they are doing Stone Garden HM without a healer and are wiping constantly because they're so focused on meta, but my group with a healer manages to get the full clear (all HM's with the speed run and a few deaths on the last boss). I'm not against the term "meta" by mean when it comes to finishing content, but if someone wants to get jealous of me not doing stuff the intended / "meta" way, then that's where I'd draw the line there. I play the game my way and I (and my groups) have done just as good as someone (and their groups) who follows meta. Anyways, been loving your content. Keep up the amazing work as always, and for anyone who reads this, I hope you all have a good day.

I main a healer, but when I'm doing randoms I find myself out dpsing the dps more often than not AND tanking. At this point my standards for pugs are so low that if the tank has a taunt and the dps use abilities, it's a good random. I kind of wish there was a ranking system like for bgs where queue can prioritize matching you with people with similar experience levels. I know a lot of supports that have gotten burnt out from pugs that take half an hour to clear Tempest. It's not fun when just about every single dungeon, you get stuck with players who have never done content before. I do a bunch of mech & story runs in my guild that have a great reception because (most) people want to feel like they're contributing to the team and learning mechs is a great way to do that. I've heard FFXIV has a queue mode for "teaching runs" that I think ESO would benefit greatly if they stole. A lot of the new players I encounter are either scared of group content because they don't know it and don't want to be a burden, or had a bad experience with pugs that didn't want to teach that content. A lot of kore experienced players I know don't want to run content because they're tired of teaching the same dungeons/trials to randoms. ESO has very little immediate incentive to teaching new players and I think that's one of the things that causes the greatest skill disparity between casual and end game players, since most of the burden of teaching new players falls on the community.

My biggest problem is finding a good group to play with, as someone who is happy being an "intermediate" player. I don't enjoy chasing meta or grinding. I join "casual" guilds and am met with "must attain 60k+ DPS to participate" so the trials and veteran dungeons I can't duo with my partner are locked out. We aren't exactly total scrubs either, we can duo portions of Trials and over half the vet dungeons, I run with a magDK wearing Grothdarr, A Mother's Sorrow, and Law of Julianos. When we tried public queuing, every time we'd end up with people who wanted to sprint through the content we were playing for the first time. If we asked to slow down, we'd either get attitude or they'd just drop. So I guess, my question is, what's the best way to find a guild that's actually chill and wants to run content with players who are experiencing the stories for the first time?

Unfortunately, not every guild is going to feel like "home", and finding that "home" in ESO may take you some time. I've gone through my fair share of guilds in my 4 years of playing; some of those guilds had really unpleasant people in them or even unkind guild masters that imposed these kinds of ridiculous rules and requirements (for me, it was that I wasn't allowed to attend trials because I played a stamDPS). I would encourage you to continue seeking out that home by reading some of the guild descriptions in the guild finder (and applying to ones that resonate with you) or asking around among your groups of friends to see if they have any recommendations. What you have shared with me is more than enough damage to be able to comfortably complete vet dungeons. ESO U's (linked in description) "project vitality" initiative may also not be a bad idea if you are keen to get into raiding but are struggling to find a raiding community that will accept you. Don't be discouraged if it takes you a bit of time, but there really are great communities out there!

Been playing for years and have always played tank but I still have situations where people leave the group or something because I like to test builds and playstyles. I’m on console so I don’t exactly have all the tools pc has with addons for testing so I have to run content for my testing. I have had issues with running double frost staff because people who don’t tank think you have to have sword and shield. Also I have many times tried off meta sets like azureblight or other random damage sets and I even have some tank builds that out damage most dps and I get called a fake tank a lot even though I’m not. People don’t realize how little health and resistance you need as a tank, the most important thing is sustain and block mitigation. I have even had issues trying to run defensive sets like a build I made recently running grave guardian, imperium, and lord warden because the groups wouldn’t stay in my auras even though I told them to

So long as you can get the job done, I don't see why anyone should have any issue with how you go about doing it. I wouldn't give two shits if the tank in my group pulled up naked (owo) and tanked with dual bows man, so long as they could actually hold aggro and stay alive (bonus points if they can group shit together), then I'd be a happy camper. Ofc, this is an exaggeration, I'd be amazed if it was possible to tank efficiently like this lmao, but ya get the point ;p It amazes me that people care so much about the methodologies of other players, especially when there isn't an issue present. If people have that much of an issue, again, I'd really recommend running with friends instead.

the fake tank or other jsut do speed run leaving the rest of the party behide is why they should make all dungeons ware you can pick to go in as a solo player and still be able to get everthing you need to get done in the dungeons. if they make it ware you can go into the dungeon as a solo player then this will all so cut down in the time for some one is waiting to go in a dungeon too even if you are a vit player that has more then one character you are playing in some games that i have played i remember waiting like 2 to 5 days in real time just to do a dungeon. with a vit player he may have friends that could help him out to do a dungeon run. for i new player that do not knows any one and all so like to play solo this becomes really hard to get into a group for you to do your quest that you need to finsh. yes when i first started play these types of games i use to get in guilds all the time only to find out that the leader of the guild has stoped playing the game and no one else had permission to do anything in that guild and the guild fell apart or you get into a guild and there is to much bs in the guild in wich now ddays if not all but most have some type of bs in it. i can do with out all the bs if i want that then all i need to do is go to work and get paid for the bs i have to put up with. so ya like i said i am a solo player and would love to see them make a option to go into all the dungeon as a solo player would be great.

Just catching up here. From my perspective ESO is toxic by design. Not designed to be toxic, however. My perspective is shaped by the genre's long history. I'm in my 70s, designed and produced what would later be called the first MMO 40 years ago, and developed community designs based on the original goal of using the consensual managed conflict of online games to accelerate the development of meaningful bonds among former total strangers. Why else connect gamers to servers in the first place? I wrote and lectured extensively on this in the 20th century, there are books on this but that's a world long in the past. Although people want the same fundamental things in every generation, innovation comes in bursts. World of Warcraft ended innovation in MMO design, not by intention. The cost of making MMOs increased tenfold, it became monetized in painful ways. Grind became a feature unknown in MMOs of the past. The experience became 90% toil for 10% fun, and the genre essentially died. The mainstream moved to different online experiences. ESO was originally designed to be a very different game with an informed community design until it was forced to chase fans of a single player game franchise in general, and Skyrim in particular. But ESO, especially in Cyrodiil - based on a design 30 years old when it was released - can be very exciting. I've truly enjoyed it off and on over the years. But the ESO community...uh...less so 😂 That and I love to doll up Dunmer gals. You either find them the hottest thing imaginable, or you worry about the mental health of people who do. Ugh...forgive the long comment...this sort of shit is the *last* thing 99.9% of ESO players care to hear. Now, if you want to see a wonderful community design in a 21st century MMO, try Lord of the Rings Online. A dead game now, true. But oh it was *brilliant!*

NO-THING has even remotely come close to how bad it was in WoW when I quit, the elitest toxicity in WoW dungeons is what actually made me quit it. It was at least every second dungeon someone was telling someone else how 'bad' they were. FFXIV community was so nice and accepting when I tried tanking again, sure I screwd up...a lot, but that's ok and the group didn't mind, they even told me what to do and what I was doing wrong. Dungeon a-holes exist in every game. Happens in WoW too from time to time. The best ones are the ones that pull half a dungeon in one pull and then whines that the tank doesn't tank. But one cannot be put down by that, it's sadly a part of PUG experiences, be it PVP or PVE. Either way, if you wanna try another MMORPG outside of the mainstream games, you should really try Fallen Earth, available on Steam. Just like the Fallout series, it's based on a future apocalypse in a destroyed world, but it's very old school with skill point allocations, deep and advanced crafting that takes time to master, and first person (or third person, you can choose) combat where headshots towards enemies and creatures deal extra damage. Add to this background ambience that is godsent and very dire and you have a classic. It's a pretty old game that got closed down, and became resurrected by someone about a year ago, so it looks pretty old in it's graphic design but holy F* is that game charming. The biggest design different from the Fallout games is that whereas Fallout is mainly futuristic, in Fallen Earth, humanity has taken a more "Cowboy"-ish form, complete with horse riding and cowboy clothes to boot.

Fake roles are really an eso thing. That's the problem. Other mmos you have 1-2 options from the get-go to specialize in. Kind of on eso to allow that much flexibility on the fly. If there was a role spec npc to allow for a change that might alleviate some of the problem. Free of charge, you just need to go seek them out to switch. Just forces the trolls to do more work to screw with others. Some won't even bother and just do they're assigned role or just constantly put up goose egg performances, until it's not funny anymore Like i've played a decent amount of mmo and fake roles werent really thing or at least lesser known. In swtor, the builds are curtailed to a spec you choose, and out of those, you can do 1-2 roles. So it's harder to even fake role in dungeons to begin with.

This is still an issue in 2024. I run RND daily for transmute crystals. Don’t mind playing with lower level players who are learning. But if you’re a healer, have some healing spells. If you’re a tank, have a taunt. My worst experiences have been with high CP players not low level. Recently ran with a vamp “healer” who never cast a single healing spell and would run past all of the trash mobs that the rest of us had to fight our way through. When we go to the final boss, they were sitting on a throne waiting for us. Grrr… After that I made a healer build and do it myself. If there is a straggler, I stay with them so they hopefully don’t get over run. I know the dungeons are random but why be an ass? At least wait for everyone to load before you take off. On the flip side, I’ve also run with some really cool players who worked as a unit and it made the whole run flow quickly and smoothly. Probably faster than the eff everyone else approach. It’s a game, it’s supposed to be fun!!

I do have an Idea As of now, random dungeons force you to have 1 Tank, 1 healer and 2 dds. What If There is a new Register, where you can choose any role and its about "Speed-running" (Just getting through quickly)

Apart from fake tanking, it also sucks having to do the base game dungeon quests with random PUGs because they can go any direction, unlike with DLC quests where you just go from point A to B without having to stop for an NPC most of the time. For example, I literally had a wonderful run a while ago in Volenfell where somebody was doing the quest and before the steam room with the sphere boss, the quest player decides to go fight Tremorscale instead of following the quest path to go and pull the lever in the steam room, which the rest of us did. I figured if I pulled the lever, the quest would proceed, but no, the quest doesn't progress and the other player gets frustrated at me for not going to them to fight Tremorscale, like wtf. I did wish the quest would proceed if I were to pull that lever, while the other can save time and defeat the boss outside the room. I want there to be some sort of overhaul to the base game quests because they are janky and buggy af, and leads to all sorts of rage.

I had a CP 11 and a CP 145 DPS's in Vet Crypt of Hearts 2 yesterday. Definitely not enough DPS and they loved to stand in stupid. But me (the healer) and the tank just figured out how to carry them threw it. It was frustrating, but a good learning experience at the same time.

one thing i would recommend to ZOS would be to update the finder to allow you to queue with 2 people and 2 companions. Reducing the number of people required from 4 to 2., since the game hasnt really been updated for the addition of companions. Other thing I think the Dungeon finder should be split up into base game normal, base game vet, DLC normal, DLC vet, so you can choose the "difficulty" level of your random....aka if I am gonna "fake tank" then I queue up for base normal only.... where as properly formed team could queue up for other options.

I had some shitty experiences running solo random dungeons back to back at low level on my first toon. Have not run a dungeon outside of guild until the current undaunted event. I’m now almost 1400 cp. I’ve learnt to run my own shields and constant healing even as dps as I’m in Australia on ps4 with terrible lag so I get instakilled a lot if I don’t. Until I learnt this my guild mates called me squishward lol

I often "fake tank" in normal dungeon queue, and i would just straight tell the group that yes, i'm not a tank. Some are cool with it, some asks to slow down for them to quest, which i'm happy to help. But some just call me toxic, scumbag, ect. Meanwhile they just run head first to the boss, have 0 idea how the mechanic works, got owned, leave more hateful chats before leaving the group.

I started playing a few months ago and have really enjoyed the game. Seeing build guides and putting together a list of equipment to get and researching how to get it has been very fun but when it comes to running the dungeons the experience has been overwhelming. I've only run about 30 of them so far and every time has been a speed run where I often miss the quest or get lost/left behind. On the few times I have been paired with lower levels I still feel way out of my depth.

Doing veteran hardmode dungeons with appropriate build among with leveled undaunted 9-10 and veteran trials is pleasure. LEVELING UNDAUNTED WITH RANDOMS IS A TORTURE, THAT LASTS UNTIL YOU COMPLETELY GET TIERED AND BORED.

Thank you. I've played eso on and off since launch. I enjoy soloing a lot, but sometimes I feel like some social. In solo play, I die maybe once a year if I don't understand a boss' tactics. Anyway, I fking hate dungeons. Years ago I seem to do okay in them but something has changed in the last few years. I tried one the other night and after a few people died, everyone just left. Why they didn't resurrect? Maybe it's my older age, but I feel many players who don't get their way immediately, just quit and look for another instance. jmho

I'm new to the game and afraid to join a group or guild because of those reasons. Never played MMOs before. I've finally reached lvl 50 and prefer tank style playing but I'm worried I'll get in and muffin everything up. So, I just look up tuts for solo tank build and slow crawl through all the content. Seen a lot of experienced eso creators that are straight A holes when it comes to nubs.

The MAIN TESO Trials n Dungeon problem to date is just one: PRO ROLES. A number: the last year (if i am not wrong) Berhesda release a statistic and nobody commented about it on youtube: aprox 70% active TESO players NEVER EVER landing a foot on a dungeon or trial. Yeah some of them entered to get the achievment but go out inmediatly. Why? Cuz the insane requirments: you need weave perfectly, u need have the perfect armor weapon mix, u need hit 90k dps or have 50k health or healing like a pro real doctor, u need run like a kentucky derby horse, and u need save the day if others fails. GIVE ME A KINGFU BREAK! This is a game! How u can learn about a dungeon or trial mechanics if u need be MR PERFECT BEFORE ENTER THERE for the very first time? And all "guild dungeons skools" advertising on guild list are JUST FAKE, they never take a noob group and teach how to run a dungeon or trial. This is killing TESO, just now is full with old moms and dads with no time to teach, and 70% player runaway from dungeons and trials.

I found that sad cause has a SWTOR vets I used to do litigious zones on master lvl (donjons) solo with every class cause I could adapt my buid 😅 like with my cousin on his first ZL I was his tank healer and dps therefore I used to focus on making him dodge the AOE and in ESO I can't really do that because I used to use guilds only for pvp the rest I was doing it alone. And regardless of the comunity or activities for me ESO has the big lack of not having illusion magic or conjuration magic and that the sorcerer can only use lightning has elemental class 😊

I have always loved healing and tanking in other games, but I have been in that group that told me my dps blew so figure my healing and tanking would be too. Plus most healing and tanking builds I see are with trial gear. I mean come on guys, if I am looking up tank and heal specs, I am probably new to it...., but I am still farming gear to give it a shot, but those nerves! Bottom line, still going to give it a shot but actually doing it will be tougher.

Look, it's not on other people to play the game how you want to. It is crappy don't get me wrong (Healer main, having to work over time to counter dps tank with no taunts sucks), but if you want to play it your way find a pug, don't do random. Expecting them to wait for you is no different than them expecting you to keep up. And inb4: They don't have a defined roll of tank/healer/dps that you can say "he's fake" because you have people who are RP builds playing dps and doing 3k damage. My Vet Trials healer can out dps that, so in my eyes that's a fake dps? Should you kick everyone who is not a 15k dps at least? No. So since you expect people to deal with bad dps then who's to say it's not just a bad tank or bad healer? (around 15k for a cp160+ toon is minimum imo, less is like having a tank that taunts the boss 75% of the time, or a healer that keeps HoT's up 50%) The issue at hand is there is no lanes for characters/classes. No one cares when they're the one inconveniencing the group, bad Dps, or floor tanks never get flamed as being a hinderece to the game in mass, because the part of the community that complains about toxic players, are in reality, the toxic players. No one complains more than casual/RP'ers who think they should be aloud to be bad/need to be carried because that build is how they want to play, yet those people have no sympathy for people who want to clear dailies and move on. My TLDR is this, Until the time that there is a roll check, which I promise you the people complaining about queues would not be able to pass/ would have to adjust their build (and flood the forums with tears), this will not go away. So you can A) complain like you have for the last 4-5 years with no benefit, B) stop doing the content/playing the game or C), my personal preference, play in pre made if it's that big of a deal for you. It's really annoying that people only see how others impact them, and not how they impact others.

What turned me off of PUG dungeons was what I call "do-everything" healers. I generally gravitate toward the tank role. I found that in slightly under half of groups, maybe around a third, I could be effectively negated by a "do-everything" healer. And they were everywhere. They would run ahead of me, pull everything, completely take the lead. Pull bosses, and there was nothing to really stop them from basically just doing the dungeon in the way they and only they wanted to do the dungeon. Initially, it scared me off of any non-DK tanking (this was prior to new classes being added to the game). Because while certainly, non-DKs could tank and tank fine, DK's had the easiest time and the easiest tools to make for an easy time. Trying to do it as say, a nightblade, was an exercise in frustration. So I played as DK tank. At first I enjoyed it a lot, because I had so many more tools and they where much more widespread, more easily accessed, more consistent, and it was just something I enjoyed with friends. But then my friends quit about a month later and I went into PUG'ing. And I found that while I had way more tools to deal with everything than my previous attempts at PUGing regularly, I was once again utterly negated and useless by do-everything healers. Once again, a healer that did enough damage to win fights alone, was able to keep themselves alive through nearly anything, and the exact same situation repeated at around the same rate. Eventually I stopped trying to tank. I hated being totally invalidated repeatedly and regularly because it was such a high chance I would end up grouped with a healer that just steamrolled everything. Why? Because they could heal through anything. They had way more DPS than me, so they could hold aggro. When I did hold aggro, they generally focused on DPS, and only healed when they had aggro back, or if the DPS had aggro because I guess they wanted the DPS's damage. It was an experience I had in slightly under half, maybe around 40% of the groups I would run, 30-40%. This was the off and on experience I had for several years. Eventually, as it was my partner's preferred game, I gave ESO shot as my "main" MMO and it stayed that way for around four months during this particular shot. I knew tanking when I wasn't with my partner to back me up was something I just didn't want to deal with anymore. So I moved on to a DPS sorcerer and found that I freaking loved the class, had a blast. Refined my build, build something specific for dungeons, and around 60% of the time I was number one on damage, and often by a fairly wide margin. It was fun....for awhile. But I like to tank. And DPS queues are long. Much as I enjoyed my DPS sorc.... I still like to tank, at the very least tank some of the time. It's the thing I like to do, it's the role that I enjoy most. But nothing changed. Maybe the specs did, but I kept running in to the same people. After a few months of that I just couldn't deal anymore. And I got quite far with my sorc, so it wasn't like I barely tried. When I finally threw in the towel was during the Skyrim expansion. I had done most of the DLC dungeons on veteran hard mode (I was missing two, if memory serves). TL;DR I get the whole join a guild solution, and it works, sure, but it also sort of makes the problem worse. Because all the kind, patient, non-dickhead peoples become guilded and primarily run with guild groups. If I were to guess, the way many functions (such as trade) are centralized on guilds is probably kind of what lead to this, and lead to what is sort of a community of cliques. If you are a drifter, as I tend to be, you're left with an unusually high rate of dickheadery. It's not that the wider ESO community is necessarily bad, it's just that the game kind of fosters insular gameplay habits. And that ends up leaving people like me out. And I'm not saying that's "wrong", even, from a game design philosophy. Not every game has to cater to me. ESO will be fine without me, probably? I guess I'm just expressing some lament because I enjoy the gameplay of ESO, I REALLY enjoy the dungeon gameplay of ESO, it's just that the way things are set up makes for unusually frequent negative experiences for me. It just feels like in general for quite a few people, it's not a game (on the PVE side) you can play casually outside the realm of soloing and have a consistently good time.

There is actually a big difference between "Fake tanks" and "tanks that aren't good" and that can usually be reflected in the CP level. I have had MANY "fake tanks" adamantly declare that they knowingly are not geared to tank. They die, the bosses chase groupmates, others die, people rage, the group quits. It happens more than it should. I don't put these players in the "new tank" category just because they HAVE "fake tanked" FG1 before and thought Vet FrostVault would be just as easy. No, they have learned bad behavior and are continuing that bad behavior. I have also seen new tanks trying to play and being crushed by DLC bosses. USUALLY, this is reflected in their CP lvl being dangerously low and other group members need to see and understand this distinction. Don't rage at a new tank that looks to be struggling. Be helpful and point out mechanics or assistance. Again though, I really think this difference is glaringly obvious 95% of the time.

Im relatively new to ESO, only about two weeks under my belt. Im a WoW player, so Im very used to those types of mechanics in dungeons; Tanking, especially. That being said, I'm very confused as to why seemingly every dungeon I run, the tank doesn't.. Tank? Half the team will run past every mob, completely ignoring the people they left behind, pretty much walling them back. Then when I obviously die due to being ganged by every mob in the dungeon, just trying to catch up to them, they leave. Why? How is this tanking? I know AoE taunts aren't a thing outside of Sets, but is this normal/a good thing to do? Why? Id like to tank but I'm very discouraged as I feel I'll get flamed for actually trying to tank mobs and DO the dungeon.
So I asked people why they are quitting ESO
