I just discovered Giles and have only watched 2 of his videos so far. He has great training tips and breaks things down so well.

I tried this tip yesterday for the first time on course with very little practice, I've never compressed the ball better, such a simple swing thought, thanks Giles.

Excellent "EUREKA" swing thought Giles! I started pushing the club down with my left heel pad when you first introduced it sometime ago. It does flatten the left wrist and bends back the right wrist as the arms get into a great position. I'll have to remember to do this with my short irons as well! Thanks for the Reminder Giles!
@Gilesgillgolf3 ай бұрын
Exactly that! You can do that move with all clubs and you’ll learn the correct feeling to get the left wrist flat
@pbode13 ай бұрын
Agree as well, seen the tip on another channel as well, to me it feels like early wrist set. It helps me avoid a inside/shallow swing path with irons, but with driver I tend to get a little too steep, which was so unnatural to me that I had no idea anymore on how to properly shallow it 🙂and started going over the top and slicing it too much, so stopped applying it to driver.

Good one Giles , lots of us guilty of picking the club up Moe Norman always said the right hand was a passenger

Thanks Giles for a great instructional lesson. Great to see your technique implemented on a range of clubs rather than just a focus on say the iron or the driver. Do you have a lesson on the takeaway in terms of the arc that the club head follows?
@Gilesgillgolf3 ай бұрын
Hi Evan, I got plenty of takeaway videos that talk about the key checkpoints of the takeaway including the arc

Got to listen when someone like Ernie Ells gives a tip! I’m glad this aligns with what he said

This technique helped me a lot with irons, as I used to take it inside too much. One major warning: focus focus focus on that extended trail wrist, because it's sooo easy to cup the lead wrist when applying that initial heel pad push. And that's a real killer.
@Gilesgillgolf3 ай бұрын
Yes, I always say it takes 2 to tango and it’s just the same in this move
@ArgentTIc3 ай бұрын
Hey gill I’ve tried this today on the course and it went great. Was wondering why so many people say to minimise the wrists in the takeaway? This seems to be promoting the opposite.
@Gilesgillgolf3 ай бұрын
It’s a balancing act. Not a single good golfer on the planet has no wrist use in the takeaway. You need to use some wrists but it varies golfer to golfer
@9418matthew3 ай бұрын
Wow! I'm gonna try this...I have all sorts of issues with my takeaway - P2 my clubface always leaks open...this should help, right?
@Gilesgillgolf3 ай бұрын

@johnsheehan64843 ай бұрын
Great video. In the first part of the takeaway should the wrists be quite passive and let your shoulders and hips rotate to about just past the thigh and then push down on the club to set it? I find if I do it straight away I am putting the club in that position with just my hands and arms without the body rotation. I also feel quite tense when thinking about this move In the takeaway. Should you have a light grip when doing this move? Thanks
@Gilesgillgolf3 ай бұрын
Grip pressure depends on grip strength. The stronger your grip strength the lighter you grip it. Do it too late and you can compromise your shoulder tilt
