Thank You for the Video. Well done! I grew up in Montana during the Evel Knievel times. So difficult to describe how exciting it was and the impact to the motorcycle world. As kids we would remove our fenders off our Schwinn Stingrays and make our own jumps with planks and concrete blocks. Lots of cuts and bruises no broken bones! Amazing we did not get injured seriously! It was even worse when we got enduro motorcycles. He was a icon and a genius promoter. You and your wife are a lovely couple enjoying your life, thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much for sharing and the kind words. Yea, I sure remember those days, watching him or when I wasn’t able to watch, waiting to hear the news of Evel Knievel succeeded in his jump!!! You’re so right, lucky, the injuries were worse for us kids! My younger brother flew over the handle bars once in a jump and only had minor scratches. I once had a sprained ankle, I could not imagine all the broken bones he sustained. He was one of a kind! Thanks again for sharing your thoughts - they are so spot on!!!!

When reflecting on Evel Knievel it raises emotions in me that I can't even explain, there are no words for it. 55 years of riding, 40 motorcycles later, several broken bones and several weeks of cumulative hospital time over the years, I guess you could say that Evel Knievel was and always will be a major influence in my life. Ride on.

Yea, I heard something similar. In a way its a little sad it is moving to Vegas. it is nice that small cities/towns have larger than life pieces of history, such as this museum. It was a fun visit and the staff were terrific. I am sure Vegas will make it "bigger" in every way - but not sure that will mean it will be better. I'll have to make a trip there and see once it is up and running. Thank you for your comments sir - have a terrific weekend!

@ 9:43, look at the rear tire of that bike. I believe it's a Trials tire which is the worst thing you could put on the rear if you were going to jump a bike. They are a very soft tire and hold a lot of air. They provide a lot of bounce, something you don't want. It helped throw him over the bars when it bounced back with a lot of force as the rear tire came up just short on the landing ramp. Think of putting a Super Ball on the rear of the bike.

Thanks for the info...yea, I think a lot of what he and his advisors did was flying off the seat of Evel's pants.

Its crazy the stuff he done on heavy bikes with very little brakes or suspension .Most dont realize early that early on he road Triumphs.Love the Mack f model hauler.I think it was found in the weeds rotting away and someone saved it and restored it not that long ago.

Thanks for the comments! Yea it sure is crazy...you're right, many people think he only road Harley's, but he did ride other bikes like Triumphs (and they were the better bike for jumping in those days).

Evel was a true American legend and an icon,that man lived one hell of a life that was for sure .. Evel literally was Elvis on 2 wheels .. although i admire him for his skill & showmanship, I've read & seen lots of stuff regarding his personal life that makes me not like that side of him .. back then though it was a different time .. we had Eddie Kidd here in the UK .. these guys were superstars back then
@ABM6596 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comments - I completely agree with your assessment. He is. man on one hand, to be admired - he had the old fashion "grit" but on the other hand, he was not always a good husband, etc. On one hand, he could be generous - especially to kids, and on the other hand, self centered and obstinate. I have heard - that his last few years, he was a much better man - I hope so. Thank you again, I think you nailed his life and how one can be found of him and his accomplishments and on the other hand, not try to live their personal life like him. I'll look up about Eddie Kidd - sounds fascinating. I did not know the UK had a version of Evel. So cool! I learn something new and humbled daily. Thank you!

Was Elvis perfect? No. Was JFK perfect? No. Was Muhummad Ali perfect? No. Am I perfect? Far from it. Is anyone perfect? Yes, Jesus Christ is perfect. None of us reading this are perfect. People look up to others that have fame and glory, but they seem to forget that these people are human just like the rest of us. While we may be a little disappointed in Evel and they way he was, we should also remember that he asked for forgiveness. A little too late? No, it's never too late. After all, as Robbie said, there's a little Evel in all of us!

They put the time and money in it. I visited Robbie and Evell's grave last year in Butte. Got me a little pine cone while I was there. It seemed very peaceful there in the cemetary, even though theres a big WALMART across the 4 lane. So, if you ever go, its super easy to find. Also the Clark House is a good visit. It belonged to the copper magnate William Clark, whom Clark County in Nevada was named after. It's the county where Las Vegas sits. Las Vegas is where Evel became really famous. Kinda funny how things go round and round. If you like reading about people, research Hughuette Clark, Wm Clarks daughter. She owned mansions on both coasts. One of them she never laid eyes on. She owned 3 floors of a Fifth Ave apt building in NYC . The apt was a time capsule. CRAZY. She was worth MILLIONS and last i heard, her lawyers and cousins were still fighting over the money. Henry Bloch just so happened to have a painting of Hughuettes that had went missing. ( Henry Bloch of H &R Block). Just fyi.

What a boring video, Evel was great so quit making it about you and the sound of you voice
@ABM6597 ай бұрын
It sure isn't about the sound of my voice, if you notice, most of my videos over the years, I don't even talk. Not sure where in the video I made it about me, after all, I show his history and his abilities, not mine. Most of the video I am not even speaking - and at the end I show my stupid mistakes with my voice. You made an assumption - and a non-sequitur. You have a good day just the same and if you take the time to make an Evel video, I'll be sure to watch.
