I'm sorry. It was written on Wikipedia that Phil sang lead here but I'm actually a member of a group dedicated to the boys. One member who knew the boys personally said Phil himself told him it wasn't him who sang lead. Honestly, when I first read about it, I was overjoyed because I never really get to hear Phil doing the lead but my heart sank when I learned the Wikipedia entry got it all wrong. I actually prefer Don's singing to Phil, but it's really a treat to hear Phil sing lead especially in this very beautiful song. I was kind of disheartened... I couldn't find a footage or a recording of them singing this live to prove it was Don who sang lead but everyone who knew them is positive it's Don who sang lead.

Check out "Like Every Time Before" so beautiful. All Phil's gorgeous voice fr their "Two Yanks in England" album in '66. You can even dance Salsa to it as it grooves.

"It's All Over" is one of the few Everly Brothers songs to feature Phil Everly on lead vocals, with Don Everly doing the harmony❤😍🤩

Don't worry, radio stations here in the Philippines still play it. Doesn't matter if it didn't make its way to no. 1. It's immortal, that's what matters. The Everly Brothers' legacy is immortal.

Love this song; thank you for sharing. But you got some of the lyrics wrong. First stanza, 3rd line: "it's all over, didn't feel a thing." Also, it's "Hair of gold like leaves in September", not "light leaves". Nice that someone else likes these sorts of songs. :)

The best ! Too much echo on this remix. You’ve got to hear the original 1965 vinyl. Their voices are beyond remarkable. Great harmonies on this tune, selfed penned by Phil I think .

@@judeward5341 thank you . I was thinking of when will I be loved apparently. Glad to see someone else is aware of how inspirational the brothers were . When McCartney was interviewed he was asked who he thought influenced them the most. H said Phil ,and Don. He even wrote about them in the song “ let em in “ ,and wrote “wings of a nightingale” for them.
@judeward53412 жыл бұрын
@@jacquescousteau217 Great endorsement from McCartney. You’ve probably heard other tributes such as the one from Keith Richards, who said Don was one of the best rhythm guitarists he’d ever heard - Don was hugely innovative with riffs and stringing his guitar differently (his famous ‘dropped G’), as well as being a great guitar player. And Bob Dylan - “without the Everly Brothers, none of us would be here”). And Paul Simon who totally revered the Everlys. And Wally Wachtel (hugely respected lead guitarist who toured with Stevie Nicks) who said Don Everly was one of the greatest lead singers in any rock band, and that you wouldn’t find any musician who’d disagree with that. And…and…well, there’s so many other musicians who line up to pay homage to the Everlys. They were absolute legends. Phew - sorry, I adore them!
