In the 1970's when I was in Sunday School the teachers would give you a presentation Bible if you attended church 3 Sundays in a row. I treasured that Bible for many years. Thanks for the great reviews.

This kind of Bible has never really appealed to me before now-all such “Bible in a Year” programmes have felt too rigid or arbitrary. I read through the KJV start to finish in order, usually two to three times a year, picking a different annotated/study edition each time. But I picked up one of these new Everyday Bibles and intend to use it in 2024 for morning devotional reading. We’ll see how it goes. Appreciate the review as always, and wish the channel well for the New Year.

Very good review as always - and I do find your uploads very calming to listen to - sometimes just in the background as I work. This is not a Bible I would buy or own really but interesting concept - I just dont like set reading plans even though many do I know. I work through the Word in my own way. That Bible is very good idea. For daily chapters I use a United States Catholic Bishop's daily Bible reading site. BUT if you didn't have power you could use this as a back up. (obviously it doesn't have the apocrypha but the site I mentioned, barely ref. it anyway).

No, sorry -- I'm not very familiar with the different editions of Enoch, Jubilees, Jasher, etc. Regarding the Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical works, there are a number of good translations in English: The Lexham English Septuagint, Brenton's Septuagint, the New English Translation of the Septuagint, the RSV with Apocrypha, the RSV2CE, etc.

I'm pretty sure that those missionaries left it behind as a gift for me. It clearly is from some economical printing for the purposes of free distribution. The flimsy binding is similar to the B.o.M. copies that the L.D.S. missionaries also leave. There is a separate leaf inside that states very prominently that ""This Holy Bible is a gift from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". The paper is of poor quality, like that glossy-looking paper that Xerox machines used to spew forth in the early 1960s that would harden and turn colour from its sheer acidic content (although this Bible does not show much of that just yet). It's dimensions are similar to the "thin line" A.V. Bibles that Zondervan puts out (but, in Zondervan's case, on better paper and bindings). @@RGrantJones

@@geraldparker8125 I have a hardcover copy of the LDS BoM, D&C, and PoGP, and it's just like the paperback version you speak of that the missionaries pass out. To my understanding, they intentionally reserve the good paper and sewn binding for their leather edition; I don't own their leather edition so I can't comment on its quality.

The cover of this slender K.J.V. Bible that the Mormon missionaries left on my porch is rather thin, not much more than typing paper in thickness, but it is not made of paper, but rather of something synthetic. Yeah, the L.D.S. crank out zillions of copies of such books, which tend to look alike even if the materials vary.@@treeckoniusconstantinus

I would mention the ISBN of this edition if there were one, but the volume does not display an ISBN anywhere upon it. There is a copyright date of 2000 and a printing date of 2006 to be found, and it was printed within the U. S. of A. The L.D.S. publishes all kinds of things for its internal use, like these Scriptures intended to supply mission outreach with copies for free distribution, various educational items, etc., but I suppose that since they are not meant for sale or commerce, there is no need for an ISBN in their distribution. Why there is a copyright date is not clear, but I surmise that what are called "chapter summaries" could be copyrightable; at any rate, those little summaries somehow may not be identical to the ones that commonly appear in the A.V. (K.J.V.) from the British university presses or the like, but I am not bothering to check this out thoroughly. The elaborate footnotes and comparisons with Joseph Smith Jr.'s "Inspired Version" that appear now in many L.D.S. editions do not appear in this economy edition, which has no such or other study notes. The pagination is continuous from the O.T. through to the end of the N.T., amounting to 787 pages as indicated atop the facing sides of the centre "gutter". The thin paper of the book's pages is not so inferior as I implied elsewhere; it would have been a poor idea to attempt such thin pages with more acidic, interior paper than this. I hope that these comments help a bit.
