Just because someone is bad doesn't make them a Slytherin. If I remember correctly the sorting hat sorts people into Slytherin because they are cunning and ambitious not because they're phsycopaths.

Is this about Mafalda Prewett? (watches video) Yess..... Mafalda (to me) wasn't an "evil Slytherin," she was just a nosy busy-body. She was born into a Muggle family and finds out she has powers--of course she's going to see herself as "special." And when she learns she isn't all that special in Hogwarts, she got pouty about it. At least that was my take on the character. She got slightly better when she grew up. (again, in my fanfic.)

Strangely enough this news makes me feel better I've started and stopped chapters because I introduced ideas or characters then couldn't find anything interesting to do with them. Hearing that Rowling essentially rewote two or three books because she couldn't make Malfada work makes me feel better about my own struggles

I knew about Mafalda. It would have been nice if we saw her in the movies, or if she was at least in the books. However let's think about it- Rita Skeeter was a pro liar. Did we really need another liar? Because this story has enough of unreliable characters.

I've never seen Rita as a liar. Sure she exaggerates the truth and when looking for skoops she uses any means necessary, but has she really lied all that much? I think every article she's written has been a version of her truth, but maybe I'm wrong.

@@backonlazer791 Look I understand. But let me tell you- With Rita she would take one fact and the rest will be false. And when it comes to opinions like on Dumbledore- She wrote on him without understanding the full story that not many knew. She sometimes made things up not just making an Elephant from a Mouse. I remember from the books cases like these.

Hmmm 🤔 I think, what I would have done is keep both Rita and this young girl. This young Slytherin could act as a informant for Rita. Explaining how she knows so much as to what goes on outside of the school. Plus Rita seems the type to have a mole planted in the school. When she’s too busy to infiltrate the school in her animagus form.

I think if a (HARRY POTTER) show series got made someday; Than maybe the character (Maphalda) could appear in it a few times, and maybe her character could be a girl is conflicted with the aspects of morals, and trying to achieve one’s goals. In addition I Imagine that sometimes (Maphalda) tests certain individuals if they are capable of keeping their morals while trying to achieve their goals.

Why do people have a deadline when it comes to writing a book, or making a movie? Let them work things out instead of putting them on the clock, so they can make things work out the way they want them to.

It's not that simple. If the author is given infinite time that might lead to the book never being published or the hype dying before it does. However, the main reason most likely is due to the contract made between the author and the publisher.

@@backonlazer791 Probably yes. I think a flexible deadline is the best way. If you got three months it's a mad rush and will fail miserably, and if you've got three years you have too much time, start second guessing etc. The best solution: "Right, start writing now, the book must be in the stores in 15 months".

so... we are to believe that a, only once mentioned, ninth weasley would go to slytherin on harry's fourth year and be, at eleven years old, a miniature Skeeter? it could be a theory, I can't say no, but it's as beliable as Tom Riddle wanting to marry a muggle.

As an aspiring writer, I'm a little irritated at your comment about Rowling's poor planning. I understand that she talks about it that way herself, but to any outside perspective you have to realize that this is how writing goes. There is absolutely zero fault in an author who makes a change because the direction they went didn't pan out exactly as planned. It's part of the craft, not a flaw in the storyteller.

Good going JKR Make another EVIL Slytherin...... Well at least we know that what Scabior said in TDH wasn't sarcasm about Slytherin not having many Muggleborns. Although is a child of a Squib and Muggle a Halfblood or a Muggleborn??? To me they should be a Muggleborn Sense neither parent is Magical, and in my opinion Muggleborns are those that have magical blood because both parents are descended from a Squib and it just took the right combo for the "M" gene to show itself. But for real ENOUGH of this damn English Predigest against the Irish that JKR has. And there is no deigning it. Slytherin was Irish and Gryffindor was English. There has been bad blood between the two nations for centuries, ever sense the Irish stopped the English from taking over Ireland. Look at the other two founders. One is Scottish and the other is Welsh both "Nations" were defeated by the English and are Ruled be them and those two founders are good and fall into line with Gryffindor on all his decisions like good little concurred people, BUT oh not the Irish founder. He doesn't want Muggleborns allowed into Hogwarts for obvious reasons. Muggles were hunting down and killing Magic users at the time and how easily it could be, and I'm sure was the case, that Muggleborns were convinced to join in the hunts to keep their Muggle family safe from persecution and whatnot. Slytherin was the only one that could open his eyes enough to see this could be a problem. This is also why, IMHO, he created the Basilisk. Not to rid Hogwarts of Muggleborns like it is thought nowadays but to keep Hogwarts and those in it safe from outside foes as well as those from within. It was only those of the Later Gaunts, Those known to not be all there in the head as it was. And then By Tom Riddle who was even more effed in the head then his Uncle and Grandfather that perverted the reason for the Basilisk even further. I might be talking out of my you know what for some or even most but look at the facts not from Harry's eyes about Salazar Slytherin. There is what I said above about the bad blood between the English and the Irish. Then there is the fact that Slytherin could have destroyed everyone at Hogwarts with the Basilisk. All he would have had to do was stay in the CoS and send it to do his bidding and it wouldn't take long for it to be over and done with. Yet he left, never to be seen by the other founders again. Does that sound like someone that is evil? Not to me. Sounds more like he felt that is Hogwarts problem and all those in in if it fell to Hunters and Muggleborn , He did try to warn them that it could happen, and maybe it did to a small extent but didn't work fully. Then there is his wand, the wand that was buried in Ilvermorny that grew into a new species of snakewood that resist cutting but its leaves have a high healing property, does that sound like a wand of an evil person? Not to me, it sounds more like a wand of a healer.

@@luciusmalfoy7778 Yeah to one on Pottermore has a lot less questions then it did in the beginning. They simplified it after a year because too many people were complaining that it took too long. Then when they moved Pottermore to the new Wider Wizarding World site they shortened it even more. I think you might have been sent to the site that has the original Pottermore test. I've done all of those tests and a few other unofficial tests, I've only ever gotten Slytherin. Have you ever played the original HP board game where you pick a colored stone to determine your house? I've played it about 20 times and I've only ever gotten the green stone, that makes you a Slytherin. So yeah I'm definitely a Slytherin.

@@luciusmalfoy7778 The original Pottermore one. It was the most indepth one of them all. Yeah it took a long time to do but it was much better then the new ones. Yeah it was my niece that got me to read The Philosophers Stone. It did take me a few years to go back and read it. The first 5 books had come out and the 6th one was only a month away from coming out when I went back to read it and I kinda binged read all of them. I set them aside and didn't touch them again till book 7 was about a month away of coming out that I re-read them all again one after the other and finished book six 2 minutes before midnight on the day the last book came out. I was waiting in line to get the seventh book.
