In the early days I built a steak house with a cow crusher on the roof, and I would lure them up there and flip the switch. And my friend would laugh on open mic as the hoppers and chests filled up with beef and leather, while hearing screaming cows. Customer: I'd like a porkchop please. [pig squeel] Me: There you go.

What a coincidence I was just building my first (legitimate) Iron Golem farm. Also yes, I was raised playing Minecraft. Also Iron Golem farms are relatively easy. Here is a list of the bad to worst farms to make in survival mode: 1. Sea Lantern (Guardian) Farm 2. Gold (Zombie Pigmen) Farm (Though it does look like a cool UFO after you're done) 3. Wither Skeleton Farm (This is horrible! I also have a video on my channel of what a completed one should look like)

i feel like minecraft doesn't particularly abhor or endorse the faustian pact of progress so much as it makes everything into a means to an end. every piece of ancillary minecraft media like story mode and legends depicts the player as someone who comes into the minecraft world from somewhere else instead of arising out of it, and so the world is man's dominion to tame and use, and the value of anything is what it can do for you. yeah the little guys suffer when they're stuck on a spiderweb of floating beds but that suffering never comes back to hit steve mechanically, steve's not from here, steve just works here. steve is just making numbers go up because the only alternatives are being a vagabond or not playing.

Sugarcane was more common in the Caribbean. It can be grown in Florida, but that wasn't part of the USA until pretty late, and in the Coastal Plain of Louisiana. Southern USA slavery was mostly about cotton after the cotton gin was invented, though more diverse crops (rice, tobacco, indigo, etc) were grown less profitably beforehand.
@boobah56437 ай бұрын
Sugarcane, however, was much, much worse on the people stuck harvesting it. The sugarcane plantations in the Caribbean had to constantly import new slaves, because the work (at least the way they did it) killed them too fast. Meanwhile, the population in the Cotton Belt kept growing even after the US banned importing slaves.

@@OverlordShamala The big bang theory is a religion.. your right about that.. science has become one too for many.. (I used to be a science disciple as well.. also refuted anything not proven imperically.) Though decades of so-called "coincidences" have helped me see through that fog of youth. Much more is going on down here than 99% of the population have a clue of.. or even care to. (It's how a small few control so many.)
@OverlordShamala7 ай бұрын
@@theWarVet All I got from you is, you don't know what a religion is & probably you don't know what's science for you to conflate them. And... never said anything that the big bang theory is a religion. Putting words in my mouth? Why? I should have clarified a bit more, the 'everything came from nothing' claim is uttered by fundamentalist Christians, then they project it on other people. Science has not become a religion for no one. How did you come up with that? Science posits explanations for a natural observed phenomenon, based on objective evidence. If there is evidence that puts that explanation into question, that explanation will be discarded & a new one will be posited that will take into account not only the old evidence, but the new evidence as well. Science is always testing their old explanations again & again when new evidence is discovered. Always asking questions. Science advances & we often take advantage to create things. Like computer or laptop, you use to demonize science. Science in the end is a tool that can allow us to create things or find new medicine to cure a disease, but man is known for misusing tool & ergo, we have atom bombs. Religion works like this… it pontificates & preaches proclamations, it demands these proclamations be accepted by faith alone, no questions asked or the loving god will cast you to hell for all eternity. God will utter a commandment not to kill, & in the next breath command his followers to kill people not like them. Now, you think science is a religion... maybe the problem is you & you're simply projecting your beliefs on other people. I don't know what decades of 'coincidences' you are talking about. You didn’t give an example, so it sounds like a red-herring.

I think the big advantage scientific horrors have over those caused by religion, is that scientific advancements built upon one another, while the arrays of religious ultra-fundamentalists trying to bring about nirvana are largely interchangeable. As for the role of Christianity in outlawing slavery, I do think that it is as Chris pointed out, a case of changing morality and finding justifications for whatever is most sensible at the time.

Is that an advantage though? The CCP is advancing organ transplant techniques and technology but it’s by massacring innocent people like Uyghurs and Falun Gong practitioners and harvesting their organs. That might advance science but at the expense of humanity.

I was concerned about time, footage, and audience interest. I could go into that a lot but I don’t know if people would watch. Dominion is a pretty decent book, but even if you look at the Bible, you’ll see a radically different view of slavery compared to the ancient world. Consider the story of Hagar. Yahweh appears to her at one point and she’s kind of blown away that He knows her name. This doesn’t hit modern people the way it would have to the original listeners of this story. The gods dealt with the elite, the kings and emperors. They had no time or interest in the ordinary man. But here we have a runaway female slave, basically the lowest thing you could be in the ancient world, and God appears before her and knows her name. It was unthinkable. This was the beginning of a cultural shift that took millennia, but that did ultimately lead to a rejection of slavery.

Yes, let's go for the Protestants and their belief in the Bible as exact holy writ, who then promptly translated the book into every vulgar tongue. I'm not saying Luther was wrong, mind. I'm just saying it's weird that the group who didn't hold the Bible as the whole of their religion held the book constant (don't talk to me about iotas!) while the group that did immediately splintered the Good Book into a multitude of variations.
