Paulo for sure did an airflare. To me the other ones pre-Ivan were either airtracks--an even more impressive move to properly land, such as the one Kujo almost lands in this clip but for sure could land back in the day--spindle flares, or hopping flares.

Great video Man! Thumbs up as always! I appreciate the raw 80s footage very much. However! I also have to tell you you left something out. Since the video includes 2005 you should have included the one hand elbow-to-hand-combo from The End/Gamblerz (IBE 2005 Korea vs. USA). Claiming that this airflare variation was a milestone back then might be a huge understatement. Because in 2005 he was the first known Bboy to do it. I remember me and my homies watching in disbelief... Even today you don't find too many beeing able to pull this off.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this. Unfortunately the ability to video tape (or even watch VHS/ Betamax tapes at home) wasn't wide spread in the early 80's, so this is a treat to see how it evolved since then. I know the first attempts were around 83', but the video shows how it became a "move" by the 90's! HIP-HOP YA DON'T STOP!

I remember in 1999 as a kid moving to Mexico and being at a popular club ( Yes, that was a thing. Especially when it was organized by a school event exclusive to middle school students ) and seeing a guy doing multiple flares on the dance floor. I remember at the time imagining if it were possible to do Airflares ( the high angle type like Benny, Moy, Ruen, Boy, Tuff Kid, etc... ) without even knowing they were already being done and without even knowing there was a name for them. It wasn't until I came back to the States and in 2003 I saw My doing them on the FSS 5 vhs 📼 that I saw the move being possible. To me, all the early forms are the equivalent of an Airtrack ( horizontal form ) and being combo out of a flare and/or windmill. But that certainly was the beginning of the Airflare.

The first complete airflare I remember witnessing was at Tribute to the Elements on August 30 1997 BY BBOY Ivan in San Francisco, California. Ivan hit his signature front flip into the cipher for his showcase. Then he busted an airflare to a windmill and everyone went bananas!!! Bboy Gerald (RIP) (R4C & KHAOS CREW) and I looked at each other like WTF what that move!?😂 Stylelements also battled Roc Force at that jam before they went to Germany for BOTY ‘97. The win was considered “questionable” at that time. Bboy Pablo was the first person I saw doing continuous airflares.

네 위즐형님이 한손에어를 위로 치는 방식으로 2001년 말 2002년 초겨울부터 친걸로 알고있구요 치코도 보티 2002에서 시도했던 기억이 있네요! 찰스가 구사하는 리얼 원핸드는 03~04년부터 리버스 크러쉬형님이 성공했다고 알고있는데 실제로 세션 코리아 04나 UK챔스04등에서도 구사하시는데 완벽하게 성공된 장면이 없어서 고민하다 찰스의 완성도에 조금더 의미가 있다 생각하여 찰스의 원핸드를 픽업했습니다.
