I've made so many local friends from small vagator. It's where I stay every time I come. I think it's the best place to stay in Goa. It's very clean and quiet. But it's changed quite a lot and I do feel for the locals who have to put up with the very loud parties that go on all night.

Excellent interview. Being from Assagao a village very close to Vagathor I spent many happy holidays in a bungalow on the beach that my father would rent from the landlord Dr. Armand Braganza the doctor of our village. Still have some beautiful shells picked up from the then pristine beach at low tide. Sand was white, water crystal clear, tiny shellfish could be collected in a handkerchief as the tide ran out and boiled for an incredibly tasty mid morn soup. Indeed those were the days my friend. Thanks to the Italian couple for organising this interview and to Antonio and Janet for the clear picture they have provided for non Goans of the way it used to be. My village has also been taken over by the "Delhi people" and has lost its soul.

A very thougtful video to b asking d local Goan of their comparative views of life before & now. And I can truly say, they were 200% absolutely correct. One could see through their (every Goan) sadness in d present deteriorating scenario, with outsiders literally grabbing & taking over, but they can never ever get d unique goan culture into them, which makes all d difference. Imagine train loads from uncivilised lands coming in daily with migrant labour, & who r mostly notorious with shady backgrounds resulting in rampant chain snatching, house robberies, rapes, murders, drunkeness, encroachments. While on d other hand r d North Indians & Non Goans with plenty of ill-gotten money, who r into buying & selling property & destroying d green cover & Portuguese-styled houses etc to construct wildly, destroying d flora & fauna, d language & d very culture. And, so out of disgust all these mis-behaved non-goan migrants r locally termed as Ghantees. A state which was a 100% crime free is sadly not today, with d influx of dance bars, massage parlours, casinos, restaurants with blasting music, drugs, prostitution etc etc. It is requested that all non-goan Indians r most welcome to come & enjoy nature, d food d culture and return, but if one is to continue with all d misbehaviour of driving on beaches, sitting atop vehicles, throwing empty liquor bottles etc & all other nonsense, d locals wd surely know to forcibly correct them. After liberation of Goa from d Portuguese in 1961, unlike India in 1947, Goa was forcible attacked by Indian forces & attached as part of India, Goa was still peaceful till around d1990's, but all this nuisance has started & grown with d Politician-Police-Judiciary-Bureaucrats, Hotel-Builder nexus with each grabbing d flesh of Goa & Goans.

@@albertmckenna7091 Practically everyday there is a opposition or an agitation or a representation against someone or something to d concerned authorities or d chief minister, but as d entire nexus r all involved there is no effect & often risk of one's life. At present there is opposition to a mega housing project of 700 villas with 700 swimming pools atop a hill whereby d very hill is being cut along with d flora & fauna. The very locals there face water problems, & with such projects, d water, sewage, landslides etc Just google 'Goa News' - Bhutani Infra. Goa relies on its eco tourism & what if d very scenic beauty is destroyed, with uncivilised from other Indian states just enter to make money. A priest Fr.Bismarque Dias was killed, and now another priest Fr.Bolmax Perieira who takes up ecological issues too comes under threat. A massive bungalow built on heritage site under d ASI protection, and despite great opposition/agitations/representation & d Panchayat & Courts hv issued demolition orders coz it is owned by a non-goan of d ruling BJP minister of another state. One can go on & on but it is sad for my state of Goa, & d unique identity of Goans truly going.

@@albertmckenna7091 It happens day in & day out, 24 x 7, 365 days. And there r complaints lodged daily, but due to supersonic strong nexus in-between d Politician-Police-Judiciary-Bureaucrat-Builders-Hoteliers & various lobbies, literally nothing happens. And, if one is in d forefront, d main culprit d Politician barring a few r bound to target u & d entire family too make it hell. Most of these high ranking officials, d Governor, d Chief Secy, d DGP, etc r all non-goans deeply involved, & so with strong backing criminals r emboldened. Earlier times, d Police were so strong & independent that none even dare to think of committing a crime in one's own house, but at present they have all sold their souls to Lucifer himself.

Pls do visit but not even think about hvg a villa to yourselves as my Goa is unsafe & sadly not d same unique Goa of yester year hvg been infiltered by non-goans from other uncivilised Indian states who hv taken over & made it literal hell for d locals. In fact, crime has just increased a lot. These uncivilised indians want their females all covered up but r there to ogle, touch etc at mere skin sun-bathing or not, as they r indeed sex-starved, lecherous hypocrites, showing themselves to b extra religious in their own housed & communities & r extra irreligious out, d Dr.Jekyl & Mr.Hyde type. Everything here in Goa has gone literally topsy turvy. Prior to liberation, d christian population was 74%, but at liberation many Goans hvg Portuguese Passports opted to move out reducing to 34%; at d 2011 Census, it was 25%, and today it cd probably be a mere 12-15% or less, while d Muslims from 2% rose to 15% in 2011 & now probably around 20% with muslim vendors from neighbouring states entering. It is not about religion, as d local hindu christian muslim who existed, blended well with eachother having imbibed d culture, which is now nowhere in these dishonest non-goans having infiltered in 2 decades from neighbouring indian states & d domestic tourists too r uncivilised each thinking they can do & behave as they please. Earlier d hippies & foreign tourists needing a break from their fast lives abroad, wanted to b to themselves, close to d sea, sun & green nature, while it has all gone. So come, see if things hv changed before everything goes.
