Thank you guys so much for watching, I hope you guys enjoy this Christmas video. I was sick when I recorded this so I might sound a bit off fair warning. Also, I just realized Alissa's video isn't out yet but I will link it when it goes live. I love Louise and this episode felt so right for her character. This episode was amazing and has definitely caused a strong emotional response from the fanbase. I just wanted to take the time to talk about this episode and hear what you guys have to say. Happy Holidays guys!

With that being said, Louise is my favorite, and as usual, amazing video. Please keep up the great work and please consider doing a evolution of Louise that isn't only holiday, ie: Louise protects Gene to play music, helps Frond, or helps anyone and is secretly nice ❣️

@@TersTrippyTV I really hope you see this. I love your content. It is so comforting. I really really think, based on why you like certain characters, you would really like the show The Great North. The dad in it is a really kind and gentle person and such a loving father and is a single dad after his wife up and abandoned him and the kids. It's such a great show and one I think is entirely underrated and overlooked.

I outright cried during this episode -Linda and Bob's willingness to be their for their kids -Tina stepping up because her parents were overwhelmed and her little sister needed her -Luise growing up and becoming more vulnerable (I know the characters don't really age, but her going from being more self centered to being more aware of others feels like she's growing up)

Absolutely agreed on Louise's development. She is really funny in the old stuff, but I can't imagine that not getting tiring over 15 years, and she's still really funny now, they just balance that with other character traits. I'm also just a sucker for sentimental sappy stuff, so episodes like The Plight Before Christmas and The Amazing Rudy are engineered to appeal hard to me.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to start watching YT content about Bob's Burgers. I've always loved this show to the point where I wrote a short act play inspired by the Belchers called "Dysfunctional" back in my senior year of Highschool 9-10 years ago. This show will forever hold a place in my heart and I can't help but cry in some of the episodes in the recent years whenever a truly beautiful moment happens. This episode literally broke me when the music came in at the end and I had to look it up and started crying even more.

It’s truly like we’ve grown alongside Louise and it feels like such a realistic depiction of having those “big adult’ feelings and thinking of your actions and consequences. Louise is a tough cookie on the outside but i love seeing her vulnerability, her care for others. She cares so much but worries about others knowing how much she cares. Such a great show 😭

The closing minutes of the Plight are just sublime. Mishima(closing) is playing as Gene's solution gets the music right, the audience(animated and real) is enthralled by this perfect moment, the Thundergirls play is now in synch with the music too, Stars are dancing, Louise teeters between sentimentality and crass but then Tina arrives, Tina has understood what nobody else has and the music plays on as Louise expresses her love for her family with poetry. The music winds down as we say goodbye to the harried substitute, Linda and Bob exchange what they experienced and Ms. Merkin gets a hospital visit, pan away as the Belchers share their Christmas. Queue the music "sit around the tree with me".

The Louise we have now I relate to .I was a 90s kid, a tom boy, still not great with my feelings as an adult. My love language is acts of service. Seeing a character whom I can relate to feeling that way is great. The season 1 louise I can't relate to. I may have been chaotic demon as a child but was never vindictive or mean, just too much energy.

I love that Gene was able to help with the music. I honestly thought he'd conduct since he's done so in the past but I forget that it takes time for him to create such bangers. Plus it's prolly what we all though so for me it subverted my expectation. For once it wasn't the Gene show and it was because it was for someone he really cared for and wanted to be part of it instead of standing out.

She’s literally who I wish I would have been as a 9 year old 😅 instead of the anxious one I was haha but the way she loves her family is the sweetest, her passion and conscience makes her such a lovable character. Louise is my favorite character. I think she has hidden talents, is extremely smart and complex. If I could write some of the future shows I d have her hiding her intelligence so she wouldn't be labelled a nerd. Gene, I would hope, gets better musically like when he and Courney did their show. Most episodes seem to revolve around Tina, but except for being boy crazy, what is her talent? She cant count toothpicks, she cant ride a real horse, she's the oldest Thunder Girl, she gets stressed out and freezes, making that annoying sound, she messes up if shes in charge (time capsule, babysitting, big fish,...) and she's mostly a follower not a leader. What will Tina do when she grows up? Its Louise that wins for her poem, Gene solves the concert problem, but Tina is just a star in a play. Yes Tina seems the most caring, but shes the oldest and needs a direction. She cant stay 13 for 14 years and be running after Jimmy Pesto. Jimmy should be running after her.

I loved the point you made about Louise and the rest of the Blecher family becoming more empathic as the seasons progressed. This is like the one adult animated show where characters have been given character development instead of being flanderized. Hell there can be an argument that season one, possibly two of Bobs Burgers where when the characters particularly Louise and Bob were their most flanderized.

Excellent analysis. Louise certainly has grown. One thing that bugged me was Tina's teasing Louise about loving the family. Gentle it may have been, it still shouldn't have been done. To me, it felt like Tina rubbing it in. I thought it was difficult enough for Louise to have read about admitting that she had a soft spot for her family, but did Tina have to remind her about it so blatantly, especially in front of the rest of the family in the car? I could easily see Louise reading her poem BECAUSE she thought her family WASN'T there, to get out her feelings in front of strangers, THEN perhaps say that she read her poop poem to her family, or try to play off reading the real one if she was called out on it. Unlike her siblings, Louise doesn't express her feelings very well unless she's called out on it, which she usually is then forced to admit them. Obviously, she deeply cares about her family, but she generally tries to hide it, putting up her tough exterior, or at least that's how I see it... 😏

Both this episode and the episode where Louise has to give a presentation on Amelia Earhart are my favorite episodes of all time. I relate to Louise so much, and when I look at my own life, I realize how much the dynamic between the belcher siblings reflects the dynamics of me and my own siblings pre-my mother remarrying. Even after she remarried, that dynamic was still kinda there. I’m definitely a very creative person who feels things so deeply, and if we’re close enough, you will feel the way that I feel things, but when it came to my feelings getting hurt, I would definitely brush it off like it was nothing. My parents often missed things that were important to me (I.e. my show choir and theater performances, my student of the month speeches and nominations, academic awards etc.,) but I always felt like I was going to my brother’s football games. I kinda just had this mentality of “oh well. You deal with it,” and so it really touches me when just one person makes an effort to support Louise. I just relate to Louise a lot, and I’m glad she gets the things that I was always wishing for. :(

THANK YOU, it’s so good to see this episode get its rightful flowers! This is my second favorite episode they’ve ever done just slightly behind “Some Like It Bot Parts 1 & 2.” I love that this episode acknowledges that the holidays are stressful as you try so hard to make sure nobody gets left out, and as someone from a family with 17 cousins (and that’s just one of my families, it’s more like 20 if you include both families), that really resonated with me. But the moment that REALLY resonated with me the most was that TINA was the one to show up for Louise, not Bob or Linda (although Linda was close behind.) To me, the message here is almost about found family, like it doesn’t matter who shows up for you, even if it’s not even the person you or society would expect. I’m so happy to see the writers take this direction with Louise’s character. She’s always been my favorite and I love that they let her be both a little chaos gremlin AND a kid with one of the biggest hearts you’ve ever seen. I don’t know if this is correct, but I’ve heard rumors that Fox told the Bob’s team not to do as many holiday episodes because they don’t do as well in syndication. Not sure if that’s true, but I wouldn’t be surprised. This video was an amazing Christmas present, thank you!

I’m back!!!! I loved this episode with my entire heart. Her poem absolutely made me cry. It really hammers in how close the family is, but we see that consistently. Bob and Linda each have their own little moments with all of the kids, and they are very supportive parents. I love that the kids are all besties. They eat together at school, they look out for each other, and they go waaaaay out of their way to support whichever one of the siblings who is in need. I feel like the episode where they try to heist the dune buggy said it best. “Mr. Fischoeder: if you wanna knock off family fun time, you need a crew Louise: WE *are* a crew Tina: yea, the Belcher crew. We come preassembled” Louise is a complex character, and I love the way she’s written. Nobody is 100% perfect, but Louise is written in a way where you understand her flaws and still root for her success. ❤

I love your breakdowns of Bob's burgers characters! You do such a great job of understanding the tiny eccentricities of each character. I love the early epsiodes of BB, that we got Art Crawl, Bad Tina, and Mother Daughter Laser Razor in the first three season is nothing short of epic, but i love how they've evolved the characters, given them more depth, and kept the show KIND. If i want to watch mean spirited humor theres no shortage of it in other shows, I love Bob's because they acknowledge people being a little weird, but don't make fun of them for it. They let their characters be who they are unapologetically. I have such a soft spot in my heart for this show because it's a crazy accurate reflection of my own family. My mom is a hilarious person who is goofy and sings everything. My dad has always been too serious and played the straight man to mom's comedic personality. My sister is an edgy little firecracker, my brother has always been loud and out there, and I have always been just as awkward as Tina. My ninth grade school picture i even LOOK like her. Big glasses, same haircut and all.

Agree very much with how Season 4 is when they found their style and character in the show. Seasons 1-3 are good but the show flourishes afterwards, and it’s so refreshing to see a show with so much development of the entire family. Also, it wouldn’t make Bobs any different or special is it was another raunchy wild family show like its networks other shows. If I want edge and dark humor, other shows provide enough of it. The belchers though, that’s my familyyyy and they’re funny, witty, caring, emotional, and full of love

Yeah, the way some people talk about the new seasons and especially Louise it makes me think they don't actually watch the show. the show is still really fun, funny and crazy when it needs to be, but also gives us episodes like plight before Christmas and moments like the end of the bleakening, hell a lot episodes have both the sentimental and the the silly/ crazy comedy in the same episode which is what makes it might favorite show right now, that it does both so well and the same thing can be said about Louise as a character, she still has and hopefully will never lose that fun, rebellious and devil may care layer to her personality, (thogh im glad that part of her has become less mean spirited and more for when she's out to have fun, is standing up for herself, or is standing up for her friends and family)but she also has the layers we see as her character progresses and grows to be more well rounded through her relationships with her friends, family and the rest of the world around her. Sorry to ramble, it just irks me that some people talk like the show went from one kind of one dimensional to an other, but the show has been anything but one dimensional pretty much from seasons three and four onward.

Make you wonder from the perspective of a 9 year old Louise is probably slowly shifting from child in the single digit age to becoming a tweenager. Make you wonder how an episode when she turns 10 years old would play out Would she be excited to finally be 10 Or She unsure of turning 10 and may have some insecurity’s about that approaching age. Louise has been asking questions about her self as well like why she doesn’t like stereotypical little girl stuff or why she needs to destroy things girly The idea of Louise actually growing up as a character shows

I was always taught that the best comedy comes from writing a good story and letting the jokes fall where they may and I think the writers of Bob’s are leaning further into that. I miss some of the more adult humor that the early seasons had, but the show would be so tired by now if they didn’t let it evolve.

i dont know, the first season was probably the funniest in my opinion. there are so many iconic jokes in it and from my perspective, the conversations seemed more natural. i dont catch up with the current seasons of bobs burgers because it got a little too cheesy for my taste, and the jokes just dont land as much for me. this is coming from someone whos been watching this show since 2014 and when i rewatch the show once in a while, i find myself falling out of it past season 6. and generally, i dont get how you think the early season episodes were bland. even compared to other shows at the time and current shows, the early seasons are still entertaining and really fun. especially on the kid focussed 'adventure' episodes. though yes, the heartwarming parts can be nice and its very refreshing to see compared to other adult cartoons, but in my honest opinion, they really overdue it. and this is in no way to hate on you, i love your content a ton and i can see where youre coming from.
@TersTrippyTV
@TersTrippyTV Ай бұрын
I think you've misunderstood what I meant a little. When I say early season I mostly meant season 1 and some of season 2. I never said season 1 was bland and not funny. I even said I liked the first season but compared to the rest of the show I think its the weaker seasons. Yes I do love the iconic jokes in the early seasons and the improvised scenes. But those handful of funny moments doesn't make it a strong season overall in my opinion. Bobs burgers was almost canceled season 1 because it lacked structure. But season 2 saved it because the episode structure were better, then season 3 came back strong. So while the improv was funny and unhinged, I don't think it can carry a show by itself. A show has to be more than funny to stay on this long consistently. Beacuse honestly in season 1 I usually only want to rewatch 5/13 of the episodes most of the time. So I don't consider it a great season. So when I meant weaker seasons my criteria isn't just how funny it is. I personally like characters development and fun stories more than just humor. So while the new seasons aren't as chaotic and dysfunctional as they used to be, I think now the characters are better developed and the storylines are more creative and meaningful. I never saw it as cheesy, because it implies that its boring and predictable. Which to me, It isn't. Plus the past couple of seasons have given us some of the best and most creative episodes in the show. Amelia, The Amazing Rudy, They Slug horses don't they, Fraud of the living dead,Radio you didn't, Show mama from the grave, and a plight before Christmas as just a few top tier episodes that's came out in the last 3 seasons. The Amazing Rudy won the show an Emmy for how beautiful it was. So while it may not be as laugh out loud funny, I appreciate the artistic storytelling and level of creativity they've been having lately. So, I don't think its fair to write off the show past season 6 because its not as chaotic. There are so many good fun episodes past that point. Especially this new season that's airing right now. This video was in no way trying to convince everyone that the first seasons were bad by any means. If that's more your humor than that's good. I didn't want any of this to come off as me saying your wrong for your opinion. Everyone's different and we all like different stuff. I just wanted to explain what I meant. I truly do like the 1st and second seasons even if I prefer season 3. I never said the first 2 seasons weren't entertaining and not funny. I find the early seasons to be a lot of fun and free spirited. I just think people write off the new seasons because it's not the exact same as the first seasons. But ironically if the show would've stayed the same exact way for 15 seasons people would be calling it boring and repeative instead. Its kind of a no win scenerio. You either change with times and evolve or you stay the same but risk becoming complacent. Bobs Burgers chose to evolve while shows like family guy has played it safe. And judging by how poorly family guy has been doing lately, I think Bob's Burgers made the right call. Plus it gives me something to talk about because I mostly do character analysis. If these characters don't grow I won't have anything to talk about.

I honestly think the earlier seasons really suffer BECAUSE Louise felt like such a caricature and not a character.

I didn't like Bob's during the 1st season when it originally aired. I only watched a couple episodes and stopped. I didn't give it another try for years and I have to say happening to catch some later stuff was what made me consider giving it another try. I really love Louise. She is my favorite, and I love her growth. She's a little chaos goblin who grows a conscience and learns to accommodate the needs and feelings of others in her schemes, or at least tries to. She's allowed the room to explore her tendencies and learn to use them for good to protect her family in her own weird little way.

See i love the early Seasons of Bob's Burger's for their chaotic nature. But i really love how it's mellowed out in recent years. Do i sometimes miss Chaos Gremlin Louise, absolutely. But i kind of prefer who she is now, we still get some of that chaotic energy but it feels more special and fun when we see it now. To be honest i'm bored of edgy humour in adult animation now. It could just be that i'm older now, but things like Family Guy, and even South Park, just don't do much for me anymore, like they'll be the odd snicker or giggle every now and then, but more often than not it feels like i'm forcing myself to laugh. With how many adult animated shows rely on edgy humour it just got stagnant and a bit boring. So to see at least one of these shows (for the most part) evolve out of just being another edgy adult animated show and become something more wholesome that will still get chaotic if it needs to, is nice to see. Again it's probably because i'm older now, and i am not knocking Family Guy or South Park, and i am not going to say they aren't funny anymore because that's not true. They just aren't for me anymore, and that's fine. The fact that Bob's Burgers has mellowed out actually lets me appreciate the earlier 'edgier' Seasons more because i can see how much these characters and the show have grown. Edit: also since you mentioned it, as a child of the 90's. I hated Bart Simpson as a kid. I hated the way he treated Lisa. Being a big brother myself i couldn't imagine treating my sister that way, like yeah we bicker but some of the stuff Bart does is borderline evil. And i am so glad that Louise was allowed to grow out of that where Simpson's just never allowed that for Bart. He's definitely mellowed a little over the years but he's still very much a 90's 'Cool Kid Edge Lord' character that was never really allowed to grow out of it properly. It's hard to believe Bart's sentimental moments when he goes right back to being horrid the very next episode. Louise's growth has only been a benefit to the show. It's okay to miss her more unhinged moments, but her growth can make you appreciate that allot more.

17:00 I have to disagree. I have watched and rewatched the series but for me the unhinged nature of the first season stands head and shoulders above the others. I understand why some enjoy the more tempered style, it is a deeper look in to the characters and usually there is more content to mine in dramatic and character driven stories but pound for pound the wackier nature of the first season is more enjoyable to me. The new tone while understandable seems far too safe and has shrunk the show's universe which I understand many enjoy but it is not my cup of tea

I will say The Simpsons did have some family oriented episodes, even if they were rare, beofre bobs Burgers. I do love how they have even more now. For me, it's true that the cruelty is bad, but more than anything, making the same jokes over and over again is boring. That's why I love American Dad. We get the crewd jokes but also loving ones more than any show before it. I like Stewy and Brian forward episodes in Family Guy because we get a break of the same old same old. That's why I was sad that the Cleveland show didn't continue.
