Poly Bridge 3 (pb3) is finally here, and with 10 years of professional civil engineering experience, who better than to take you though the evolution of Poly Bridge games as we look at the differences between the trilogy of bridge building games!? (Yes I'm using this as an excuse to wait for you clever bridge builders to fill the gallery!)

So Poly Bridge 3 releases in just under an hour from when I'm writing this, I will be going through the best gallery replays of the first two worlds so if you want a chance of your bridge appearing in my next video then you have around 24 hours to get it done!

pritty sure in the first game with that physics thing you were talking about, when you ramp up to 300 % view speed, your car would actualy travel more distance, very anoying to find that out after an hour of dicking about at 50% trying to get it just right

OK off topic but I'm praying you/someone can help. At 5:48 there's one of those circular shapes made by the negative space between lots of equally placed lines/vectors crossing a square shape, the sort of spirograph effect. This has been bugging me for years. Is there a proper name for a shape (in this case a circle) made by straight lines like this? The circle doesn't exist, we see it because of all those straight lines at very close angles, but it's illusory. The closest thing I can find is 'spandrel' in architecture, but that's not it. Anyone know? Please? Edit: it's the shape RCE says 'whatever that's meant to be' of.

Heya, thank you for all the really kind things you said about PB3! I had the opportunity to work on five of the levels, one of which is TBA post-release! I threw in a few easter eggs to each of the five I made, I hope you can find them all!

There is one more thing in pb3, in this game the materials can stretch from pressure a little, just like in real life.

If you want to be comprehensive, you're missing some changes in hydraulics and springs: -the compression of springs can be adjusted in PB2, but not in 3 -hydraulics got stiffer and more reliable from PB to PB2. (I'm not sure if anything changed in 3)

hey that's me at 5:42! that ran at about 8 frames per second and all those 10 million dollar ones with a bunch of falling physics calculations would've turned my computer into a puddle I was actually thinking about a sort of cracked out extradosed bridge, with the dense network of steel beams meant to visually evoke plate girders

I still wish they would allow users to like/dislike each other's replays and give you the ability to sort by popularity instead of just stress or budget. There's some truly impressive stuff in the replays of Poly Bridge 2 but they're buried under dangly roads or people adding tons of material just for the sake of running up the budget.

I love the new art style and level concepts for PB3, but one thing that rubs me the wrong way is just how tiny all the levels are.... Both PB 1 and 2 has ginormous levels with grounds that were thicker than the actual bridge. It created a sense of grandness and scale that meshed really well with both the bridges and tiny cars, PB 2 especially mastered this. Most of PB 3's levels are tiny in comparison and it feels just like there's a lot of wasted space... When I open a PB 3 level, I'd often see more void than actual level which is really disappointing. I guess the best level in that respect is probably the sky scraper one for me.
