The evolution of the most successful aircraft in history

The Cessna 172 has been a staple of general for aviation over the last half a century and it looks like it is not going anywhere anytime soon. The first went on sale in 1956, and today in 2022 new models are still being produced. (albeit there was a ten-year stop in production during the late 80s and 90s).
In this time over 45,000 have been produced making it the most produced aircraft in history. If you are a pilot or ever flown in a light aircraft, there is a very good chance you have flown in a Cessna 172. In this video we explore the history of the Cessna 172.

Thank you 👍✈️ Indeed and no obvious reason to replace it either. Does the jobs that is required of it, without any major flaws (at least it seems there are no major flaws. I'm not entirely sure as I am yet to fly one.)

No problem, I quite enjoyed the breakaway myself. I've learnt a lot about Cessna in general throughout the video. That's great, seems like good fun to fly. I've logged a handful of hours on its smaller brother the 152, but even that is good fun 👍✈️

@@AntiqueAirshow Indeed! Most of my flight training was in a 152. The first time I climbed into a 172, I felt like I was boarding a jumbo jet--so much space!!

That's great. I haven't flown in one yet, but have done some hours in the 152 and find it a nice, fun aircraft to fly.

I grew up in Wichita, Kansas during the 1960's and 1970's. Cessna helped make my hometown earn the title The Aviation Capitol of the World. To be fair, Beechcraft, Stearman Learjet and Boeing helped Wichita earn this title.

@@AntiqueAirshow Nod.. a little bit of extra icing to finish off the cake 😁 I wonder if you can keep going with that...a list vid followed by a feature on the winner.? A multi engine top production runs episode to compliment the, mostly.single engine aircraft in this one? Just a thought... Might not fit with what you are working on...but it's something that could mix in with your standard content occasionally.

That's a good idea, I'll have a look into it. I've got a few videos in the works that should see me through to the end of the year, but perhaps early next year I might be able to do another one. 👍✈️

@@AntiqueAirshow Good to hear . I know that keeping contentnt ideas going is like a diamond mine...the content is there...but you need a lot of digging to get to it. And alternate fallback just in case stuff can be a handy backup. No rush to drop it in the schedule...or ever tbh.. but will enjoy it if we see it🙂👍

@@solospirit4212 indeed it can be. I try to have some sort of plan, but it quite often changes. Sometimes good ideas just pop up out of nowhere, while other times I encounter issues with a topic (i.e. lack of information, difficulty creating a coherent script) and a project will have to be grounded and shelved. So yeah, always good to have a backup of sorts. 👍✈
