this is an honest question, not an attempt rip them. Metallica goes from songs like Metal Militia and Fight Fire With Fire to songs like Until it Sleeps and The Memory Remains and they are called sellouts. Voivod goes from songs like Warriors of Ice and Blower to songs like Panorama and Twin Dummy and they an not considered sell outs. both bands seems to have gone from unbridled thrash to clean radio friendly songs, yet only one is considered the sell out. what is the real difference here?? again, not trying to rip the band or be edgy, just curious.

I’m not sure if you have ever seen the Cliff Em All video, but Cliff Burton himself essentially “warned” everyone it was going to happen this way... furthermore, just because Voivod didn’t successfully hit the mainstream doesn’t mean they weren’t aiming to do so. You don’t drastically change your style unless you’re looking to cash in
