Embolden being a LV2 decoration is insane for Lance. It means that all you need are three LV2 decoration slots to have the blocking power equivalent of Guard +5 on your character. It also means that you no longer need to be bound to Violet Mizutsune armor pieces to have Embolden on you.

only problem with that is I like doing multiplayer. SO embolden doesn't proc every time monsters doing big attack 😓

It's worth noting that when adding anomaly slots to raw/status lances, you end up with 30 raw and 10 sharpness (as opposed to the 15 raw, 21 element and 10 sharpness on element lances). Just thought I'd point out that you don't miss bonuses but instead get different ones. The way you explained it in the video could be misconstrued, possibly leading people to think that raw lances miss out. Otherwise, awesome video and explanations. Thanks for putting in the time to keep us informed and hunting efficiently. Also, the armor skill, "Furious" can now be rolled on augments and synergizes exceptionally well with dragon conversion as it provides +20 to all element resistances on red scroll.

Really solid summary of how things are. I'm gonna have to try some elemental lance builds for multiplayer given that summary at the end, it wasn't something I was aware of. I use a mix of multiplayer and solo, however since Followers have been allowed in all quests I typically run with followers since they provide some good healing support or a distraction for the few times I mess up, although that being said it has been a good while since I played purely solo so I may try that again too.

Wilds weapon trailers got me back into playing Sunbreak again (left off around title update 2), particularly the charge blade one! So I'm "catching up" and watching some vids from my favourite smaller channels again. And of course twiddling my thumbs in lance trailer waiting room 😄. First encounter with new monster is always solo, and then strictly multiplayer with randoms afterwards. Doesn't change for lance!

Heck yeah, been waiting for a breakdown on the lance stuff in TU4 from you! As for the new stuff, i've really been enjoying the full elemental meme with Dereliction, augmented bloodrite, augmented +2 furious & dragon conversion 3, and surprisingly no offensive guard due to the HEAVY focus on elemental damage. I almost exclusively play Multiplayer, so whenever the monster actually targets me i get tons of uptime between enemy attacks and never really stop attacking no matter what. It's been somewhat competitive on damage, but i cant compare to elemental gunners and Dual blades so far. It's also just been nice to get some variety in actually elemental countering monsters and changing loadouts.

This is the TU4 video I've been waiting for 😊 I'm planning on building up the frostcraft set and lance as I'm working my way through the master ranks and I'm nowhere near the level to take on the highest level monsters. Will give me something to work on while I'm on my way up. I play this game pretty casually, so I use lance for everything. I tend to play solo without followers, but when I play multiplayer I'll use a agitate deco so they're going after me more often. Keep up the excellent content! Cheers

I usually do both follower quests and solo quests depending on if I want extra heals. I also do multi player hunts alot. Nice video! I'm really glad that embolden became a decoration, and a level 2 one at that!

I've always been a multiplayer type Hunter, although grinding to AR200 after TU3 has opened my eyes to how much easier the game can be when you're the only player. Even so, I try to turn Join Request on as much as I can for certain investigations because 90% of the time, people are looking for those quests and I want to make it easier for them to find them.

Pretty interesting insight on what playstyles favour raw or element, I have never thought of that. I take more difficult hunts solo, and “farming” hunts multi. The new armours weren’t to interesting to me and my lance. However the new jewels look pretty juicy, I have been waiting for some good lvl 4 jewels. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the video. I always play multiplayer, and I find my DPS dips with ranged classes in the quest. As a result I tend to bring Twin Vine in one of my scrolls but I really wish the range for the tether could be extended because half the time the monster aggros someone too far and I'm stuck having to sheath and run or use a charging attack.

I’ve been playing solo with followers or with a friend lately. And i tend to use a mix of leaping thrust spam with wide sweep when there are openings and counters/instablock

I mostly play solo, be it material grind or anomaly grind, but not necessarily by choice. Most of my friends that play MH are of much lower AR than me so that plays quite a huge factor. Interesting to hear that element augments might be better off used with followers/multiplayer, now I don't regret augmenting 5 lances for full ele and attack as much as I did before this video.

It has been a hot minute. Welcome back and let's get grinding. EDIT: Hello, I am a gen 2 lance main that primarily hunts with friends. I got tired of solo hunting after Tri, because I wanted to prove a point to a friend that believes everything Escapist Yahtzee said was god and he wouldn't shut up about MH being a glorified offline MMO until I did a naked run with lance. Sunbreak has been a lot of fun. I've found a new lethal joke build using mind's eye and other non-weakpoint skills to just shred monster parts and let my friends take the glory on head weakpoints. I will skill swap if I see the enemy switch aggro to me early for Anchor Rage, but generally am trying to maintain position with simple 1-dash Spiral Thrust or Sheathing Retreat. The amount of movement optimization possible in Sunbreak makes Iceborne feel like child's play and it's made the grind hilariously fun for me. On occasion I'll try to knock out some solo hunts for followers, but that's more for completion's sake. I do not like using followers outside of those quests. I'll take my palico and palimute but I have not spent time optimizing them or figuring out how to get the monstrous double palimute mounted crossbow wombo combo going that I've seen from other hunters on youtube.

I play multiplayer more often than not nowadays. Even if you stay focused on solo hunts, mentioning what skills are not so good in multiplayer is great to adjust builds accordingly. I find myself using sheathing retreat a lot just to give chase in multiplayer, so using that I can try fitting in frostcraft to get a bit more of a boost.

I end up playing solo more often than not but multiplayer factors in if my friends are playing. Frankly, multiplayer was more of a big deal with World but less of my friends are playing Rise and the ones that do aren't really seeking help in the first place.

I played World exclusively multiplayer but was dedicated groups of super fun people. Running solo with followers in Sunbreak, I run the twins with HH and Lance often and 2 palicos. I'm able to just go ham all day, barely sheathing to heal and they stay very close so I'm not running around chasing the monster often. Hybrid hop/guard lance and just getting to end game looking for builds

Pretty much exclusively a Solo Hunter, with the followers being added on, I have taken with me Hinoa and Utsushi as support Horns, along with 2 dogs

I've been using Velk Lance with a 100% crit gimmick set so I just slotted in Master's Touch instead of Handicraft

I mostly do solo with followers and buddies, using lvl 1 diversion deco makes sure I don't have problems losing aggro to them. In multiplayer diversion doesn't work, so I rather use another weapon since usually I end up with gunners as teammates who run around the place when they aggro the monster making it difficult to maintain offensive guard and anchor rage buffs and dps in general.

Multiplayer in the 140+Endgame still feels more like anticipating someone to faint every few minutes. A good 30% of quests straight up fail. That's why I tend to stick to solo. I take Followers with me on ordinary quests but will switch to full solo for hard endgame challenges.

What would you think about a Frostcraft, Crit Draw, Off Guard -> Instablock Counter playstyle? Too gimmicky? I haven't had time to farm out parts yet to test something like that.

i usually go multiplayer and practice the monsters solo, this makes me an incredibly high risk high reward player since i'm trying my hardest to punish ala speedrunners would even if i'm not that good yet also for the grank valstraxs i enjoy skyward thrust more than anchor rage due to how much it punishes his wings during a lot of his attacks since when charged they are a bigger hitzone than their head

I'm about 50/50 split between multiplayer, and solo w/ followers. As some others have said in chat here, it seems like in my experience solo w/ followers is pretty close to normal solo, since the AI companions don't really pull too much aggro... outside of the random mounted monsters they might bring to an encounter.

I'm a Solo Lancer but I like bringing followers for free extra healing! I've just completed my build using a couple new TU4 decorations. Equipment: Valstrax Lance Kaiser Crown Archfiend Baulo Armor Golden Lunebraces Rathalos Coil Onmyo Sashiko Skills after Qurious Crafting and my God tier charm: Attack Boost 7 Critical Eye 7 Windproof 3 (no decos) Peak Performance 3 Critical Boost 3 Weakness Exploit 3 Guard 3 Offense Guard 3 Recovery Speed 3 Stun Resistance 3 Flinch Free 3 Defiance 3 Sneak Attack 3 Burst 2 (no decos) Resentment 1 (no deco) Guard Up 1 Spiribird's Call (no deco) Intrepid Heart 1 I'm having lots of fun hunting with this build! I always eat for Dango health recovery, and if I fail the 80% activation I'll swap the 3 Defiance for 3 Kushala Blessing and just deal with it. I feel very powerful and my health bar is usually full!
