The facts are, with no exaggeration, that our health is being destroyed by chronic illness. Illnesses that are preventable and treatable with things you can change in your life right now.
Some statistics you may not be aware of:
Life expectancy here in the U.S. is the lowest of all developed nations, yet we spend twice as much as anyone else.
75% of American adults are overweight or obese
52% of American adults have type 2 diabetes
30% of American teens have pre-diabetes
Autoimmune diseases are increasing by 12% per year.
Cancer rates in young adults are up 79%, and it continues.
Well that's the bad news, but there is good news.
Chronic illnesses, at their root, stem from just 4 things: diet, lifestyle, environmental toxins and the overuse of medications.
Highlighting some simple things you can do:
Diet - eliminate processed foods, those that contain seed oils, high fructose corn sweeteners and those that are highly processed. Certainly limiting alcohol consumption can be added to this list.
Lifestyle - I think the 3 main ones are exercise, sleep and water consumption. Of course there are others, but we want to keep this simple with actionable steps you can take today, tomorrow and the next day. Resistance training and striving for 10,000 steps per day is a great start. Sleeping a full uninterrupted 8 hours and drinking filtered water, at least 6 cups per day can make outstanding changes.
Environmental toxins are abundant - limiting your plastic exposure, avoiding toxic cleansers in your home, pesticides in your food and investing in an air purifier in your home are simple, yet highly effective changes.
Overuse of medications gets solved as your health improves. Here at Root Cause Medical we pride ourselves on our ability to decrease the amount of medications our patients take by utilizing Root Cause Medicine to restore optimal function to the body. As you start to normalize your body's tissues and organs, your need for many medications decreases. We assist you to make those changes.
You don't have to be one of the above statistics. And you can help your family and friends to avoid them as well. Simple steps truly lead to big changes.
