I can't agree with you guys more! This movie was a cultural phenomenon when it was released in 1973. Not many movies that are almost 50 years old have the power to frighten like The Exorcist did, and I still know people to this day who refuse to watch it because of the visceral effect it has still to this day. Once you see this movie you never forget it that's for sure. A masterpiece in my opinion.

If you saw the exorcist in the theater in the 70s like i did as child it was very disturbing and intense this generation is very naive to such classic films and I hate the idea that they find films such as the exorcist funny
