Yes, being a Belter probably puts him at a disadvantage, but also, he was not recently a poster child for healthy living. Recall Octavia's "For God's sake, Miller, eat something."

I always found it a little odd that the end of seasons in this show doesn't always line up with the end of each book's plot, but it certainly helps keep the story tense from season to season! I particularly like it here - the escape from Eros is so intense and harrowing that it works as a final act for the season. You might recall one of the Belters Miller spoke to when he was tracking Julie saying that after Julie went down in the mines with some other Belters she'd have to take anti-cancer meds for the rest of her life. That's the fate that awaits Holden and Miller, but at least they made it to the Roci instead of dying a horrible death by radiation poisoning. Edit: To give you a sense of how big Eros is, you can look it up - it's a real Asteroid! 433 Eros is kind of shaped like a potato, but if it were spherical it would be around about 10 miles across. Of course, in this series humans have showed up and built a space station onto/into it as well. Ceres is also a real place, it's a dwarf planet in the asteroid belt. Ceres is more-or-less round, and is a little under 600 miles in diameter. For comparison, if Earth were the size of a nickel, Ceres would be a poppy seed.

So... that last scene. The blue sickness spreading through Eros is maybe just a little more sophisticated than your typical epidemic. How sophisticated is an open question at this point.

Amos = Murder Snuggles. Apparently the film crew gave him that nickname since his character is so violent and someone who is capable of extrem sensitivity. Also the actor who plays him (Wes Chatham) is a super nice guy.

I think the scene where Holden and Miller have to silently kill a guy while radiation sick is underrated. It's such a desperate struggle, and the show does a great job earning that.

I loved the fact that after the struggle was over, they were all lying on the ground, two breathless (and one REALLY breathless), and as the camera pulls away, you see an "Everyone's a winner on Eros!" banner flashing on a screen. Nice juxtaposition.

Naomi is one of the best depictions of an engineer on TV. Characters have lifespans on this show so not going to spoil how long you'll get her, but for while she's on the show she just gets better.

Great reaction and analysis! Good catch about how the radiation was affecting Miller more than Holden because he was a belter! Chrisjen is our Queen! She is always the smartest person in the room... Always! One thing I love about this show is that the female characters are amazing! They are written and acted so damn well! It's done so organically. It's not this " I am women, see me roar! " Mad respect to the show! Looking forward to the next one!

I think one of the neat things this show does is to name the last episode of each season after the title of one of the books in the "Expanse" book series. For this first season, this episode was named after the title of the first book.

I love chatting with people about whether you would want someone like Amos on your ship if you were a captain. Even if they were more loyal to your engineer than you. I personally think you do need someone like him, to do the crappy stuff that needs to be done in this chaos that they are living in. Amos saw Miller's friend as a threat and took him out, there wasn't much else thinking to it, where as Naomi and Alex had the more normal response of trying to get him to see reason to not leave their friends behind even after he was threatening deadly force.

I think when someone you've seen kill before points a gun at point blank range, finger on the trigger, at the head of someone you hold dear and says, "Don't think I won't kill you," he is saying "Do think that I will kill you." At that point there is nothing more to think about.

@@kirkdarling4120 Not saying Amos shouldn't have shot at all though. I'm saying most normal people would have still hesitated, the guy was an ally till he pulled the gun. Even if you were to shoot him, and felt justified in doing so, it would still bother most people. Amos on the other hand did as you say and thought nothing of it. Or like when Amos was ready to just start shooting the Martians that were gonna board several episodes ago and James was trying to stop him.

Chrisjen seems smart, acts smart, on the other hand, conspiracy and side project in her own government for past half decade, including government, private corporations, money, resources, stealth tech (that Earth doesn't have), military ships, propulsions, weapons systems, etc, and during all that time, she who is 3rd in line in UN government, had no clue about any of that.. Seems that: "seem" and "act" aren't necessarily "is".. 🤷
