The battle stats for that battle at the start is very telling the free navy lost 4 ships to destroy one UN cruiser and possibly one martian ship as its status is unknown. it shows that the belters are outmatched in open warfare as they have zero experience fighting a real navy with generations of experience in open naval warfare, the belters only have experience fighting each other in small tribal skirmishes and being Pirates.
@Riku-zv5dk3 жыл бұрын
Not to mention, on top of all that, majority of their ships are not dedicated warships, but refitted civilian ships. And those losses are still huge, that was with at least one of their Martian ships. 1/4 loss ratio while the UNN is disorganized and regrouping is dismal at best. Numbers are an advantage when they're used properly and they last, but if you waste them...
@paulmccloud93953 жыл бұрын
Exactly, giving someone an advanced ship doesn't make them any better. They are used to hit and run pirate action against civilian freighters, not open naval warfare involving multiple ships. The Mars tech will help, but experience still resides with the UN and Mars.

not really, 5 belter small ships vs two UNN cruisers and MCRN heavy frigate, it was 5 vs 3 and 4 vs 2 in losses, but considering the classes of the ships, Inners should be worried, but as it happened near Patroclus(Jupiter's trojan asteroid)that means that Marco is successfully breaking his way towards the Ring

I loved the scene where she adds Arjun’s name. She’s come so far as a character since season one. Remember when she tortured the belter or when she favored Errinwrights choice to nuke Deimos. And Souther called her out on it. Her arc is so big.
@Riku-zv5dk3 жыл бұрын
The best thing is, she still believes those actions were right, and she stands by them. Deimos was a military target and there was some sense to attacking it, it was a warning to the Martians, while it pissed off the Martians it also showed them the UN wasn't afraid to strike them where it hurt, home. Here, it wasn't a warning, and it wasn't a military target, it would piss of the Belters but it isn't a warning, the only thing they get out of attacking Pallas and saying 'Belters hurt us, now we hurt them in turn'. All it does is alienate any moderate and UN aligned Belters. I can understand their anger in lashing out the way they are, they're right to feel that way, but it needs to be aimed at the people behind it.

Paster is in a rough position, he knows he is not qualified to be SG and so does everyone else, but he wants to show he can live up to his speech and avenge the fallen. And worse, he let his emotions cloud his judgement and despite rationalizing it as logical and decisive, all he is doing is lashing out. He is an engineer and is trying to treat the situation like a machine, logical and without emotion (despite being emotional) and so he responds to the arguments that seem to be logically given to him, which is the military option.

@@taymoorarsalan7789 absolutely. It is easy for us the viewer to pull away and look at something objectively and with collected info of all the characters, it is another thing to put yourself in a characters shoes. Paster is not a politician, he only got into politics because he thought someone else was corrupt and he could do that role better, he is a minor part of a bigger whole and then suddenly the worst thing happens. Everyone above him in the line of succession is dead or too injured, he is suddenly the leader of a nation under attack, and he had to watch countless people die as while he got to live. It is a sad reality that he got thrown into the worst position that he wasn't ready for, and just couldn't measure up for it.

In most real world scenarios responding with a strike is the most common way of responding and the the first thing that would be done. Morality dosen’t really come into play in a war; if a country nukes another country, the enemy will respond with a nuke (and that is basically why MAD works). While it is the morally right thing to not kill innocent people, it rarely is done in practice. Historical examples from the eastern from of world war 2, bombing campaigns over France and London resulting in direct attacks on Berlin prove this. This particular storyline is pretty similar to the ‘War on Terror’ campaign by the US wherein an extremist faction’s attack triggered a massive counter attack destroying many countries and killing thousands of civilians in the process. This is exactly what would happen if such a situation arose in the real world.

Yeah, Oksana was so unfair to Drummer in this episode, asking your partner if they love you as much as they love someone else, that's a huge No-No in polyamory, that's super unethical, you're not supposed to compare and rank love. Drummer is honest to a fault, so if she says she loves you, she means it. Drummer is the one who should be questioning how much Oksana cares about her, because she has offered no moral support or affection for Drummer, despite the fact that Drummer has been making so many sacrifices for the family

On Ganymede, the Belters were going to "kill eachother like animals". Only two persons coming to an unlikely understanding, and deciding who got to leave, salvaged the situation. In this one, there were no mothers with children, only a dozen of adult civilians and two groups of trigger-happy gunmen. Clarissa was somewhat mirroring Naomi here. We could also say that the Belters spacing a bunch of civilians in an earlier season was a stunning critique of the Belt. That doesn't mean that the Belters/Earthers in general are good/bad. They are all humans, just living in a different culture and environment for a few generations.

I also would not have thought a malfunction would occur the same way four times in a row before failure. The message may have increased their level of urgency rather than dissuading them from approaching. Naomi realizes she needs to do something more...desperate. Steven hit the nail on the head with his evaluation of that joke. Earthers had always gravely underestimated the Belters, and continue to do so. Doesn't Drummer still have that gun she got from Ashford's stash? Was that a literal "Chekov's Gun?" Friedrich Nietzsche: “Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster" "I have killed, but I am not a killer. Because a killer is a monster and monsters aren't afraid." -- Clarissa Mao I think what Clarissa fears is not physical danger, but becoming a monster. And because she's afraid of becoming a monster, she is not one. Nor is Amos for the same reason. Holden had faced that chasm--he had even destroyed a ship of good people just as Clarissa had--but ultimately turned away. Even Avasarala came close. Paster has failed the test, so far.

Also have to consider that the belters don't have the weapons to execute a precise and clean war against Earth and Mars to end the atrocities that have befallen them for years. So striking back in the way they did given their position and treatment isn't exactly the worst thing in the world. The treatment in the first place is what caused this reaction. This is another detail that most people missed, but the UN attack on Pallas station actually occurred in the previous episode. When the secretary general called in Delgado to ask his opinions on a possible strike, if you flip the image and zoom in on the tablet in his hand you can see that he's already reading a report of the strike, listing total casualties as well as the immediate after-effects. The Secretary General went behind everyone's backs to order the attack by himself, and then brought in Delgado to justify it afterwards.

5 betler ships engaged two UNN cruisers and MCRN heavy frigate, beat heavy frigate, destroyed one UNN cruiser, other ran, 4 belter ships destroyed..Inners shoud be worried actually, but that battle occured near Patroclus i.e. near Jupiter, that means that Marco is breaking his way towards the Ring

a group of extremists do something, then you punish them all, why is that so familiar today... Christian did not give a plan, she is stating don't be extreme and don't be consumed by emotion, she is asking for more info and strategy, again wow, why does this seem so familiar in these times

" she'd have to go out into space...that seems risky."? Where do u think Naomi went, in her final scene? She on da float, barakna!

I think Drummer will meet up with the other 2 Marco ships and then as they are attacking the Roci, she will have her 3 ships switch sides and fire on Marco's ships

Why does the scene with amos looking at earth through the window of that ship reminds me mass effect
@JnEricsonx3 жыл бұрын
Because it practically looks like the one at the start of Mass Effect.

I guess the family didn't go to Luna that often, because they would have to completely rebuild their house every time ;) hehe

Normally the ship would have probably used teakettle propulsion or chemical rockets to clear the area. I also feel like maybe the bay doors worked in tandem with blast shields like on an aircraft carrier, and they didn't give it enough time to fully deploy.

This has been a very strange season - excellent acting, nice character backstories, but it seems like not much has really happened, at least in comparison to Season 1-3. Holden has kinda moped around Tycho Station and finally the Roci, Alex and Draper have spent most of the season in the those Razorback seats. Amos has had a bit of an adventure, but Baltimore feels very undeveloped, and his old buddy is completely miscast as a bad ass. I guess the Naomi/Marco plot is really the only one that has hummed. Yet I'm still REALLY enjoying it. Haha. Episode 4, was absolutely unreal, and the high watermark so far this season.

I see what you're saying, this season (and book) is fantastic for the character background/growth and the devastation of earth, but it's not as action packed. Also the really crazy stuff happened right back in episode 4, and the protomolecule takes a back seat. Erich isn't meant to be a tough guy. He was a tech/computer guy for the real Amos Burton in the churn Novella and somehow he found his way to being in charge, I like his casting.
@rdevries38523 жыл бұрын
@@garethneller8239 Yeah, I was about to say the same about Erich. The guy was never supposed to be a "bad ass". He is, as you said, a tech guy who used his knowledge and smarts to scheme his way to the top. And for that kind of character, I think Jacob Mundell is a really solid casting choice.
@jaimebergner3 жыл бұрын
I disagree about the Erich casting - he is cast against type, which I find very effective.

I hope Drummer would realize that there is a reason why she become friends with Fred, Ashford and Naomi. To borrow Amos simplification of people, these are people you follow -- leaders, because Drummer herself is a leaders too. Her current family are people you need to protect from bad guys like Marco. Stop listening to them and their fear of the aspiring space Hitler. Yesterday, they were scavenging off the carcasses of their fellow belters who stood up against Marco. Now they are on the hunt for the Inners who sympathize with belters. WTF is next? If Paztor (so disappointed in him) didn't get booted, it would be Marco who would order them to nuke or throw rocks at Ceres or Tyco. Take the lead and give her family courage to basically go F Marco.

What if she's about to collect more ice to smelt into water and try to short circuit the bomb or something? Since she pulled out open wires. I've been wracking my brain on what it could be that clicked in her head at the end.

It's hard to break regular brainwashing much less when the parent is brainwashing their child. On the topic of drummer either she switches sides on the next episode or when Avarsarala starts reaching out to the different factions. It would be interesting to see Avarsarala and drummer in the same room

What hit Naomi was that her tear fell onto the display because the Chetzemoka is accelerating so if she cuts the fuel to the Epstein, the ship will stop accelerating and definitely communicate more. And I expect that something will trigger the sixteen-year-old to remember his mother saying "sometimes all you can do is walk away."

I believe Drummer and her crew will get asylum on Earth and help get factions against Inaros to help them defeat him.

Look at how bad things were for Naomi on Illus. And that was WITH treatment. Drummer and her people would be fucked.
