A silly short featuring a lot of bad puppetry, action figures and mayhem. A video created by the performance group The Opera Dogs.

The voice acting from Joker is excellent! His cry of despair especially.

If this was actually made in 1992 (as it genuinely appears) and edited on a LINEAR system, then daaaaaang this thing is really well done! Hope you and those involved all ended up in the television and film industry in some capacity! Or that this was at least shown on public access.

Wow. Thank you so much for the kinds words. Back then, distribution was much harder. It did play a few cable access shows, and it was screened at the 1992 Mill Valley Film Fest. Unfortunately, it was hidden away after that. I finally had time to restore it this year, and now, it's probably getting its widest audience - 28 years after the fact! And yep, it was made by doing analog linear editing on a 3/4" tape. Ugh! Those were the days. And indeed, several of us stayed in this nutty thing called show business, going on to do radio, TV and film. (Here's a partial list of my credits post-Expensive Guy www.imdb.com/name/nm2275363/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3 ) Thanks for watching and thank you again for the kind words. And keep up the great videos that you're doing. Very funny stuff! (And if you'd like to know more about the Opera Dogs, here's a pretty good piece on Brett Berg's Museum of Home Video that explains things www.twitch.tv/videos/737055152)

@@rexdoodle Yep, digital production and distribution is certainly a different world from the early 90s. I'm just old enough to have shot some projects on TAPE formats (VHS in high school, UMatic 3/4" in college, BetaSP and DVCPro in early "real-job" career) and did some of the first earliest editing via linear deck-to-deck. And, man, this video has some quick edits and is chock full of sound effects, which were pretty dang laborious to produce and cue up on linear. The simplest visual effects needed a ton of pre-planning. These KIDS don't know how good they have it with the non-linear setups! (the last link you provided doesn't work for me, sorry). Great work! Excellent to hear you're working on Big Films (including... hey, Speed Racer!) and keeping active!

@@ZappahVideo Thank you, Zappah Video! You've got great stuff on your channel. Bravo! I especially love "Oh no: Not Again." I've been sending it out to people. Folks really need to see that. It's great. (And I'm assuming the title is a reference to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?) As for the old days of video, it was pretty crazy doing everything with assembly edits, back then. (You should check out the Mr. Styrofoam Pants video on this channel. I don't know what we were thinking, but that has some seriously crazy editing toward the end and it was all assembly). These kids today! Get off my lawn with your all your digital ones and zeroes! Again, keep up the great work and keep making those jazz hands!

@@rexdoodle Thanks for the kind words (and for sharing my stuff!), it's much appreciated! I'm certainly a big fan of Douglas Adams & Hitchhiker's so that did factor in to naming: I made a simpler version of the Oh No Cats a few years ago that was just "Oh No", and knew that a sequel with the subtitle "Not Again" would be not just funny BUT ALSO REFERENTIAL TO SOMETHING GREATER! I've also done short ident/stinger graphics for friends and my love of Hitchhikers is evident there (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIvcfIehrLCtmMU) I watched and enjoyed Mr. Styrofoam Pants a great deal! Lots of quick cut gags there too that I'm sure were really difficult to pull off! More fast-paced than anything you'd see on broadcast TV at the time (aside from maybe MTV, but that's technically cable). Also the opening title sequence is noteworthy... that sort of CG was VANGUARD digital stuff. Were you using Video Toaster, by any chance? Maybe not.... that was out for a while by that time. But someone had to have had an in with a TV studio or something by that point, right? Anyhow, great stuff! Take care!

@@ZappahVideo I"m so glad you enjoyed Mr. Styrofoam Pants! That one is a bit wild. Although Video Toaster was around, it don't believe it was used for the titles. The lovely and talented Joe DuVall was handling a lot of the technical stuff. He had connections with corporate and TV news stations around town (The town being St. Louis). If my memory serves me, the graphics were done by Tom Rigs in Photoshop and we just cut them so they fit the music. By the way, I really dig the logo you sent. Boy, does that take me back to the Moog synth days. I rewatched Tron recently and looking back it's really evident how much that film created the look for the 1980s. (Backlit neon against a black background) Again, a very cool logo. Great stuff! Keep up the excellent work and, as always, so long and thanks for all the fish!
