Then you probably got lucky and found someone you like/love, But let me tell you being alone while other people joke about it and shit, that seeping loneliness keeps closing in day by day and the weight of that fucking loneliness is fucking devastating. So other people find a mantra/habit/coping mechanism no matter how fuck up it is just to ignore/forget that loneliness even just for a couple of hours a day. I got extremely lucky too because 25+ years ago I was one of those now I'm married with 3 kids and living my life to the fullest, it ain't perfect and there's up and downs but god I love my family.

the biggest failure of streamers and the streaming industry at large is: not learning from the lessons that literally every other entertainment industry has been learning for the last 100+ years sure, streaming is a new area with sort of new dynamics, but nothing that happens within the twitch "community" is new everything from the goofy parasocial nature of it, to the pseudo-celebrity aspects, to the endless fake friendships/business relationships, all happen in every industry, big to small fact is, twitch just has/had no adult role models to teach and bring up the younger 'talent'; all you have are kids who took one philosophy class and/or kids who will do anything for more money

Pretty Privilege doesn't mean the person has no talent or skill. It just means, the notoriety one receives is far above the skill or talent one has. There are hundreds of other women like Pokemne who have similar talent, but won't be as popular and successful as her because they're not as attractive/pretty. So, no. She isn't "accused" of pretty privilege. She has it. It's not a sin, it's just a fact.

If she didn't call people out for calling her out for not telling her viewers to stop donating, this drama would have never happened. I don't think Pokimane isn't one of those who has their cleavage staring straight at the camera. I mean those Twitch thots are on a whole nother level. @@Wharbuckz7 So, you cannot play a 3 second music clip without it violating copyright, yet you can take someone's actual face and add it to someone else's body, make porn out of it and sell it. And that is somehow legal. How? If I took that same celebrity's face and made a deep fake car commercial, or soap commercial, ot any other type of commercial, that would automatically be illegal. No question about it. Yet somehow, the law does not apply to porn, even though it is also making use of someone's unlicensed likeness for commercial gain. How does that make sense? Ive been trying to figure out what the difference is legally.. but have not been able to. I found a pretty extensive article titled: *_Is deepfake pornography illegal? It depends._* by Russell, but it'snot very concise and Im still not clear on the difference. I feel like a lawyer needs to chime in and explain the difference.
@timesplitterlad
@timesplitterlad 5 ай бұрын
I have a hand in both legal and cyber matters so let me try to answer this for you. The difference you're looking for here is the industry in which the deep fake is being used in. What I mean by that is that the law has not developed well in keeping up with the digital age. There are a lot of things people have gotten away with on the internet that would be illegal if done elsewhere. Look at all of the digital coins, KZbinrs illegally advertising coins to their large fan bases to then dump them at peak (the SEC would have a field day if this was done in any other medium), NFTs, reaction content copyright drama, etc.. It's not that people are sitting around thinking that this should be a grey area or maybe not made to be illegal. It's more that, according to current law, these activities would be hard to nab someone for in a court of law. Our 900 year old politicians can't really even wrap their heads around constantly developing tech, so trying to encompass it all legally is even harder. AOC put up a bill years ago regarding twitch and the military using the platform to "manipulate" kids into signing up for the service and most of the politicians in congress literally couldn't even understand the subject enough to debate it. Point being that this stuff will probably all be illegal in a clearer context soon because like you said it would be illegal if done anywhere else, but you just have to give the justice system some time to develop laws around new tech (a lot of time actually). Also keep in mind that international issues will still apply even if they do create new laws that extend directly to deep fake stuff. If the person who made the deep fake is in China, for instance, it's going to be very difficult to stop or penalize the activity as it is with many of the crimes we face today. @@a_lucientes

She shouldn't but it comes with the territory. If your brand is based on sexualizing yourself, don't be surprised when you're sexualized. She sold her soul for views and cash, and got very rich doing so. This is just the consequence of this "trade". This is no different than being a prostitute and then wondering why your clients don't respect you. The honest truth is, if she was a male, she would be lost in the wind with zero viewership. At least streamers like Ninja have to rely on competence and skill when playing games to be famous. People watch him for example, for his skill and plays. That is how he is valued, while Pokimane is valued for her looks. Had she actually had any skill, she may attract a different fanbase. But unfortunately if looks is all you can provide, you will only attract a certain group of individuals to your content.

Misogyny is the most acceptable and commonly practiced form of bigotry in the world. I can’t tell you how many examples I have of men openly demonizing homophobia or racism while within the same half hour say very sexist things and laugh about it. I mean, look at the way words used to insult women are thrown around so easily, while similar words used to hate on other groups are banned entirely. I’ve been really surprised and disappointed in my life to see just how much living and working as a female woman in world has affected me and the outcome of my career, my efforts, relationships, etc. I never would’ve expected that when I graduated high school. I also believed it was a thing of the past. It sickens me to imagine how much worse it is in places like Saudi Arabia. Why is it that so many men hate the very people they desire most? What pathetic insecurity must they be filled with? But “might is right.” Even if it isn’t, it wins. How very sad. I appreciate patient, loving, respectful men more and more all the time.

I think there's an inherent problem with a lot of websites/platforms. Degrading societies. People need to go out more, have a healthy social life and focus on themselves, instead of being stuck on screens for hours, giving so much time, attention, money and power in the hands of a few people (so-called "influencers"), who don't give a damn about them. Yes, you could argue they're providing entertainment, but honestly watching all of this is just a new low of how sad and tragic our society has become.

*this is coming from a woman who has also been in the gaming industry:* if you're a woman and thousands of people are paying you just to watch you / hear you whilst you're basically doing nothing but average human functions, then you are delusional if you don't think that it's because you're being "simped for", and that obviously comes from a sexual motive. THERE IS NO WAY that she is surprised by the fact that somebody clarified that. And it baffles me that she is enraged whenever somebody is pointing out the truth, because she is big enough in the industry to carry on and not comment about it. Let's be real, to be popular you either have to be funny, skillful, unique, or pretty. In Pokimane's case, she's popular because she's pretty.

I guess all the big male streamers are being watched purely because they are oh so funny and skillful, not like Poki who is just pretty. Every time one of xQc's streams ends I sit there, in awe, looking at the silent black screen, trying to process how incredibly funny and skilled he is at... watching YT videos and being permanently involved in drama. Those guys totally not take advantage of lonely men and pretend they are old time friends, to the point a big streamer once had a fan cross half the world to come live in his house because he genuinely thought this streamer knew or cared he exists, look it up, it's true. And yet, the male ecelebs are not harassed or judged for taking advantage of their audience. Really activates the almonds, doesn't it.

There are benefits and drawbacks to any job. No one is forcing her to be a streamer so I don't really feel bad for her. She has plenty of money she could retire, go to university, do whatever she wanted to do. She just CHOOSES to stream. Just like if she had chosen to become a nurse like me dealing with illness and bacteria is just a drawback of the job. I currently have covid and am home right now. The thing is, even if that level of sexism and sexual harassment *is* currently the reality of streaming doesn’t mean it *has* to be (and I’m a bit disappointed Ludwig went that route because from the bit I know of him he seems like a good guy and that kind of mindset reflect poorly on him). A culture has obviously been curated where people think that’s okay but it’s *also okay* to challenge that being the norm. I’m not saying she’s innocent or in the right or whatever, I don’t know much of her, but I do think it’s despicable to just throw your hands up and be, “well shucks, that’s how it is, no changing it.” Just because something is “normal” doesn’t mean it’s okay and we often don’t do better without people challenging these negative norms we have.

Yeah but woman shouldn't have to worry about getting harassed in public but they do. Ludwig never said it was unfixable. Just that until things change it is the reality. The best thing Poki can do in the short term is just moderate, moderate, moderate. Keep them mods working. We shouldnt have to worry about sending our children to grade school and them coming back alive. But until something seriously changes we do.

i hate the fake outrage from female streamers. women do this thing they find male spaces and want to insert themselves into it. no one begged of forced any e-thott to start streaming on twitch or to dress half naked on streams or bend over pretending to pick things up, they know what they are doing when they go live full make up and all to "play games" to a predominantly male audience. if poke w/e doesn't like being sexualized by viewers or fellow streamers she should show her partner and or tell her male simp audience that she will never do sexual favours with any of them ever. but we all know she wouldn't the same girl who can say the N-word on stream then pretends to be a victim by simply being a woman is ridiculous, if she were more ghetto no one would have had an issue with it and she wouldn't have had to appologize. if she doesn't like the money she's making from her simp army she can simply refund it too.

its weird that you say women are fed up of being sexualized when they (pokimane & other streamers) wear seductive cloth that might make some kids feel aroused by them they bring it on their selves instead of dressing modestly they chose to get sexualized.

Idk if you just didn't want to touch the topic, or completely forgot about it. But there was huge incident with another streamer where the streamer was being very manipulative, and inappropriate with Poki's circle. And for some reason everyone turned the whole situation onto Poki just because "she led him on" as a lot of internet would say. Just completely ignored the guy that did the obviously worse things, just to hate on her.

if people want to give their money to anyone fine let them its their problem, it would be good to tell them that its wrong and how will they manage afterwards but its wrong when you try to demonize or create a villian out of the person who received the money, in the end Poki or any other stream can't force you to subscribe or donate

They can't but they should make it clear there is no chance, not even 0.0000000001% chance that they will ever get together with the donators. Because that is the sole reason some guys will donate the last pennies from their bank account to a streamer. Just because they think they will be notified, maybe even today.
