Technically it wasn't a viking settlement because it had been set up by Farmers not Raiders (vikings). Also it quite likely most of them had partly or fully converted to Christianity.
@sandyhenderson441 Жыл бұрын
@@dragoninthewest1 Actually the vikings were farmers/settlers. Their boats certainly went raiding, but one reason for leaving their original homes was the need for land that could be farmed. They settled & farmed Scottish Islands, and here in the north of England the vikings are still very present. All around where I'm living are towns & villages with viking settlement names. And the bit of France now called Normandy was given to viking raiders, on condition that they didn't raid anywhere else in France. Seafaring farmers more than raiders.
@PatrickDoherty-m7k Жыл бұрын
@@sandyhenderson441 Yup, even though some people were pretty much just raiders the majority wasnt, they had raiding season and then the rest of the year was spent either farming or merchant stuff like travelling and selling goods/loot, alot of the people who lead raids n partook in them had farms back home that their families tended to, the ones that did own arable land that is, raiding was just an extra often more lucrative job that alot of them took on during the raiding season and also a way of scoping out new lands to like you said, farm.

@@protocetus499 is the manga finished? and btw, no it doesnt need to be hundred percent like history, it is based on those characters and derives inspiration from it, but its not hundred percent a history re-telling

It's interesting how names are translated. Christopher Columbus for example was really named Cristoból Colón. Almost every historical name we use is actually 100% inaccurate because it's been translated. His actual, untranslated name was Þorfinnr Karlsefni.
