The creativity is over the top. The way you mix methods into a single unit is inspiring.

Instead of cocktail sticks (toothpicks in the US 😜), I use kabob skewers. I stack up the foam, jab the skewers in and do the perimeter cut & cork fit cuts. Then I take the skewers out, glue (I use liquid nail/Constitution adhesive) & restack the foam and then stick the skewers back in and leave them long. That way I know where they are and remove & replace as needed for the foam cutter. Typically I just leave them in overnight and remove them before the plaster coat (because I'm cheap/broke and reuse everything I can, but my stuff doesn't look cheap and isn't. Maybe that's why Nobody has bought anything yet, toooooo expensive for a new unrated company), or you could just trim them down and carry on. I know this is an older video but it's my first time seeing it and there's my two cents. Again nice work and thanks for the videos.

Great video Luke and you are right, if you just have a go at something, it's surprising the results that anyone can get. It helps a lot when someone like you shows us how to do it and how to achieve great results with simple steps and everyday objects. Many thanks for these videos, they are very interesting and super useful too. Have a great day and have fun, Joe

Just haters who hate because they can. If you ignore them, they will go hate somewhere else. Your real subscribers and fans love your videos, so just try to pretend they don't exist. Have fun mate and thanks for all these videos, Joe

***** It's all good Luke. If there was really someone who genuinely did not like your video they would have explained why in the comments or asked you to explain something in the comments, but instead they just press the button to annoy you, knowing no one can trace who they are and they get some sort of freakish pleasure from doing this. They should just go and do something with their lives instead of just hassling people for kicks. But just ignore them and they will go away mate.

Oh look its my favourite pudding "Rocky Road" or at least the end shot gave the impression to me of a dirty big wedge, all I need now is the Ice cream to run across the top of it and that is me settled down for a night of Terrainiac viewing!

I know this is gonna look great when it's finished, but I've got to say at the 18 minute mark it looks a lot like my cooking when it comes out the oven haha. Great video mate, look forward to the next one.

@@davidsimpson4059 I'm just starting to do the same, nowhere near starting but like you watching a lot of videos and gathering material, I'm going to to a year or two of making very small scenes before starting the big Scalextric one, I need a lot of practice as I want the layout to be perfect as once it's in it's staying there, do you have any tips or know of any exhibitions to get ideas from, cheers, Davey

if it was me personally when I got it sealed, I'd drop it into some silicone, create a mold then remake it, in resin... simple reason, Cork goes moldy...

Beautiful piece Luke. Question: How did you cut the cork bark to be so flat so it fits nicely on the base?

Hey Luke. Are the days of polystyrene over now that we have the various wood pulp / plaster mixes? Whilst watching this, I was wondering how difficult it would be to replace the polystyrene with plaster bandages over a chickenwire mesh armature, then built up with the pulp / plaster mix to cover over the hexagons from the chickenwire?

are you adding pva and water to your filler to stop it from being flakey, if that makes sense?

2 years too late but he said "cork". It's a piece of cork bark.
@maril37197 жыл бұрын
where'd you get the piece of wood from? Just from the garden or...?
@ruaridhmackenzie32156 жыл бұрын
Maril3 it's cork bark. Best bet would be a pet store or somewhere that sells stuff for reptiles

No, I get the same reaction. For hills I've been building a core out of cardboard, like a topographic map, then covering it with liquid nails. It's not as cheap and you have to be careful because it is toxic, but no cutting foam and I find it's actually a lot sturdier than foam hills, which is good if you want to transport them frequently
