Best band from this record label, and one of the best metal bands nowadays.
@a.alonso513211 жыл бұрын
I can't really think in a better band than this one, maybe The Dillinger Escape Plan or STYG, but I really don't know, in terms of musicality this band is better than any other band in Sumerian.
@chancearnold-gonzales818911 жыл бұрын
Alonso IndieGrin instrument-wise, they're one of the better ones, yes, but the vocals ruin the band for me. it's a shame, I know, but I just can't get over the way the vocals were placed over the instrument tracks. also AAL is apart of sumerian, too, so I think they have some strict competition with Tosin. the reason I would say that I prefer Animals as Leaders over The Faceless isn't due to the vocals though. My reasoning behind that is the actual playing style of the guitars. The Faceless is more generic and predictable whereas Animals as Leaders (or Tosin Abasi if you wanna look at it like it's his solo project) is very creative and original with their writing. They push more boundaries than The Faceless does
@a.alonso513211 жыл бұрын
Chance Arnold-Gonzales i forgot about AAL, and i have to admit it, theyre more original at least if you count the latest album of the faceless, but for me the lastes album of AAL wasnt that good, it sounded a little bit messy, plus as a band the faceless is better, michael keene is a talented guitarist, evan is a talented bassist, the unclean vocals are perfect and the drums are more than average, "Planetary Duallity" was almost a technical death metal masterpiece, "autotheism" was perfect too, but it lacks a little bit of originality, but still is almost a perfect progressive album. at the end of the day the two bands deserve the first place is just matter of taste i guess.
@MK4vDubbin11 жыл бұрын
Chance Arnold-Gonzales AAL's guitar work is definitely unique but The Faceless guitar work is anything but generic and predictable.
@j4k05111 жыл бұрын
Alonso IndieGrin The Faceless are one the most original death/progressive metal bands ever, they have a completely original sound. I haven't heard anyone do something so weird yet so beautiful on the guitar as michael keene. So saying they aren't original is just dumb.

Angel Espinoza Keene may be a solid guitarist, but his singing is fucking awful, his writing has zero fucking restraint and he has no idea how to do any sort of prog writing (I dare you to tell me that the saxophones on this record help). Townsend is an average guitarist, one of the best singers in rock/metal history and has proven himself as a great songwriter with a lot of depth and variety. What world are you on where Keene is better than Townsend at anything besides straight 16th solos? You're like those guys that think Metallica is the best metal band ever because it's the only metal they listen to.
