1:53 to 3:00 mark is one of the best I've ever heard in music can listen to that section over and over again with Keenes Vocals just harmonizing and with the music changing too this album has really grown on to me alot and listen to it alot now I can relate to the lyrics like they are part of my life and gives me goosebumps and chills listening to sections in all the songs in this album but that part in this song is definitely my favorite wish we could get another album now and a tour the faceless is the band that got me in Tech metal and overall death metal genre and all thier work is fantastic and brilliant 👏

The Faceless were one of my favorites and I still admire them through thick and thin and same with MK. He is one of the most flavorful modern guitarists and I love the thought process when writing. Transition riffs are so great and he is the master of alien riffs. The production is kind of small in terms of tones but the mix is easy to understand, and clean. Once you home your ears into the frequency its really "vinyl" sounding. Band is a perfect mix of cold and warm. Will always love these guys and the slick writing. Stay string MK! One of my biggest influences and I hope he stays strong to the music despite the hardships of life

4:12 to 5:12, all those drum fills make me think of Nick Barkers drumming. Hell if you would have told me that Nick did the drums on this album, I'd believe it. Chason has even cited him as being a huge influence to his drumming style and it shows.

I think The Faceless can become the catalyst to make tech-death songs appeal to more people. Keene is a genius in his own right who can compose songs with brutal riffs with the added song-writing that has some pop-sensibility (which isn't a bad thing). When I saw that The Faceless were opening for Dillinger, I felt like it should have been the other way around. Hopefully this album really is worth the wait. Keene, if you're reading this, please continue to make great music for us and tour often. Ken with The Faceless seems like the perfect answer of black metal screams along with Keene's "cheezy jazz-singer-from-hell" counterpoints.

Feel a pain so cold under the skin As I dig the grave to bury these sins Taste a misery so real, purity stains Obsession with a thrill that possesses my veins Reveling in depravity As I drown in the agony The entrance to nothingness The eternal winter that's blacker than death I walk in a void in the absence of magnificence A pitch black misery of malevolence Visions of tomorrow becoming irrelevant When the plethoras of demise have become a feeling of decadence Oh the old familiar shame I buried all the pain away in the ashes and grey Drifting out and astray I dug the grave The empty hole that keeps what's saved And now I know that it's misanthropy that's killing me Digging the grave The sickness is tightening Digging the grave The sickness is tightening Digging the grave The sickness is tightening Digging the grave The sickness is tightening Purify these stains Digging the grave That possess my veins Digging the grave

Why would they remaster that?
@cbl6520
@cbl6520 7 жыл бұрын
Because the mastering was never fully completed. Mike stated in an interview that due to time constraints set by Sumerian records, he was forced to master the entire album in one day, of which he literally spent 24 hours straight working on it and as a result, didn't get things to sound like he'd wanted it to due to listeners fatigue from spending so much time working on it at once.

Hopes were so high for these guys, but Planetary Duality didn't quite live up, and Autotheism only got a couple play-throughs before I never listened to it again. The clean vocals just lead me to skip tracks. The groovy ear candy they had going for them in the first two albums is just slaughtered every time his clean vox kick in.

Zyborggian like at 1:54 on this track for example; so Opeth signature right there. I don't mind the influence being there, but this seems so intentional. I just think he could've found a better way to not be so obvious in trying to sound like Opeth's softer side. Here's a more obvious rip-off from a different band: Check out Meshuggah's "Mind's Mirror" at :30 and compare to The Faceless "Akeldama" intro.

When the music is too good to bitch about, there's always the tone. I'd listen to this through a potato and an hm2 and it'll still sound better than your band.

What?? Idk what ur talking about but I bought the album and the production is better than anything I've heard even from bands like Atlantis Chronicles, Equipoise, Beyond Creation, Rivers of Nihil, Inanimate Existence..... Must I go on? I'm an Audio Engineer also, and the production on this whole album is masterful.

@@muingould131 Disagree. This album's production is terrible. It's hard for me to listen to this album for long cause my ears hurt. P.S: I do music too. Compare this directly to Periphery- Reptile for example.

Yeah truth is the mix on the whole album feels slightly too thin/sharp. Not that there is no low end to it, the bass is clearly audible. But the drums are really dry sample sounding, the snare is way too loud at times and the guitars have too many mids. Sadly that's the tech death mix archetype, but the music is amazing

It's tech death. If you want some meaty chug shit go listen to djent, slam, or deathcore.

Are The Faceless competing for who can have the most thin, sterile production on their new album? Because I'm sure they'd win with this.
@SinCaptor95

Don't get me wrong, the music is cool. Not a fan of these guys in the slightest, but this is pretty good and interesting by modern tech death standards. But the sound is shit and doesn't do the music any justice.
