Taj Mahal Palace is the first 5-star hotel of the Taj Group located opposite the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
It was built by Jamsedji Tata, whose construction started in 1898 and it was completed on 16 December 1903.
Has 4 crore rupees been spent to build the hotel?
Friends, in those days the cost of a room used to be 13 rupees, which had a fan and attached bathroom, and today
it is minimum booking costs approx 24000 per night.
It has 560 rooms, 44 suites and 9 restaurants, which have 1600 staff to handle.
After the 26 November 2008 terrorist attack, the hotel was renovated at a cost of Rs175 crore.
Do you know that during the First World War, the Hotel was converted into a 600-bed hospital.
Today the Taj Group has several hotels across country and Taj is a well known brand.
