6:19 I know Techland has said there are no recurring characters but like... why would you confirm something like that and spoil the fun for everyone? Plus, they kept saying there were no guns in the game, but now we’ve seen the Scorpio launcher and a full-on shotgun. Not too invested in the Kyle Crane bit of this though tbh, it is a long shot

@mattmedrala19473 жыл бұрын
More like the movie, at least. The book was much more shocking in that the vampires had become the new society and the 'human' had become a savage monster that needed to die so this new society can continue. Dying Light's world doesn't seem to be too far gone yet.

Imagine a Prey-like dynamic where you have Technical / Human skills vs Unnatural / Infected skills. Your progression and investment into one over the other shaping how you interact with the world. You start human, but you might not end that way if you invested heavily / more into the infected tree(s), eventually being weakened by daylight, or outright harmed eventually. Infected become less of a threat, but now humans start becoming a threat. Really good concept to apply to some kind of vampire game at least where you're a natural born vampire that could go either way, plus being more supernatural to involve more interesting abilities.

Sentient Volatiles seem likely because we did get a sense of that in Dying Light: The Following. I still count that ending as Canon to the first game because we don’t know just how far these Volatiles have evolved. Talking Volatiles are a possibility and could be more fleshed out in Dying Light 2 if given the chance. But to show smarter versions of the volatiles would be cool
@Y00bi3 жыл бұрын
The canon ending is the one where Crane became a Volatile though.

Part of me hopes that “going native” is an option. Just reject humanity and lead a faction of volatiles that splits from the main infected. Let it play like the “be the zombie mode” from the first game

Really hope that mode returns as I always liked the idea of playing as the monsters you fight in horror games but DL1 felt like an afterthought and not much effort was put into it and it was an unbalanced mess.

I also think people don’t talk enough about the one mission in dying light the following I can’t remember which one it is but you go to locate this guy and his floor caved in and you wander into this cave into a dark zone and find him as a volatile saying that it hurts. I have no damn clue why people don’t talk about that scene more cuz that was terrifying and made you feel empathy for the people affected by the virus
@lolkuok67053 жыл бұрын
It would be amazing if in one of the ending routes we purge one of those volatiles colony and there we see how much they evolved. Like some start trying to speak to you ( for example enemies in tlou2), some sacrifice themselves for the good of their wives/kids/people, and some, after witnessing this tragedy, just become empty and sit there, waiting for death. Imagine it as a mix between " no Russian" from cod mw2 and "parasite outbreak" from mgs5, where it stops being fun and you ask yourself if you have to continue this massacre.

@walriderprojects84282 жыл бұрын
It's an interesting theory. I think one of the reasons we are supposed to feel sympathy for the infected is that techland took inspiration from 28 days/weeks later because the infected are not zombies but living human beings that are infected with a rage virus that they can't control, its the same thing with the last of us the infected are also not zombies but infected with a real life Fungus called cordyceps. Edit: other inspirations they took are obviously the volatiles are inspired by the darkseekers. The sympathic feeling is the infected in 28 days later. George Romero's of the dead franchise is the slow walking zombies and the walking dead is humanity being divided into groups like the saviour's lead by Negan

Would be interesting if, at some point in the story, you have this faction of sentient (maybe even peace-striving) volatiles who ask you to help them end the hunting of volatiles by one of the other factions
@nut67953 жыл бұрын
What if it’s like the game prey we’re whenever you upgrade your abilities you start becoming the enemy, this but when Aidan upgrades his abilities he starts becoming more volatile like and he starts showing burning when in the sun, so when this happens you can choose to “stay human” likely the game suggests you in flying light 2 or become a volatile
@Azrael_Equinox3 жыл бұрын
That's actually a great idea. Having the "stay human" part of the title be more literal than we originally thought would blow everyone's minds. Also who doesn't like game mechanics directly changing and effecting the story because I love that idea.
@ultimatedoug964 Жыл бұрын
While it did not happen in the game the future dlc story is hinting that 1. It will be out of the city continuing after Aiden and Lawan leave 2. Constant “Crane is Alive” easter eggs are appearing 3. They also confirmed Kyle was the one who either started the fire when Aiden was in GRE hands or was at least there at some point (Waltz has cut dialogue talking about him but it is still canon apparently) so this faction is possibly coming in the next story DLC

LETS GOOO! Honestly that sound like such a cool twist and hopefully there will be some interactions with Aiden dealing with being half human and how people will act around him. Will certain factions start to actively hunt him down to order to kill him or capture him for genetic testing? Or will they try to make him a leader for the next stage of evolution? There's a lot that can be done and I'm excited to see it happen! Enjoy your break and stay safe!

This is a theory I like, I’d thought of it myself too. I feel they’d be like the mother, “human” while in the day and beast in the night, maybe they have a society like I am legend or maybe they’re just trying to survive too. Crane could possibly be one. I’ve heard the crane is the night hunter theory, I like it too but I think the night hunter is most likely fan service and doesn’t actually exist in game.

I remember seeing a KZbin comment in like 2018 about a plot prediction of some sort on how crane could be in dl2 and it was really cool, so from what I remember it went along the lines of that Crane and a few other characters for dl1 were in a underground hideout the main survivors who lived through the ending of dl1 were there one of them being Brecken, and from what I remember crane was this mysterious character that obviously the character recognized the other survivors but the MC didn’t and crane was this mysterious figure in a hood and collar that collar being for the other protection in case his volotile instincts fully control him and he attacks the others and one part of the comment that made me remember it all these years later is that crane spent years isolated trying to come to his senses and the only thing he had was a picture of jade to remind him of his friends and I really liked that about it now it probably has a lot of problems with it but for a KZbin comment it was pretty damn good IMO

These couple weeks, some theories are beginning to pop out here and there by the second, and I'm loving it! reddit is feeding into it, but to keep it real, I don't expect a crazy story, I just want Dying Light 2 in my hand although... it's techland, you never know, like imagine a flash back to the room in the first game showing us that there was an actual reason behind it rather than just being there for the funnsies, and if it could be the point where Crane comes back (I really want to see him in it, it will be huge loss if he is not in it, at least as an Easter egg) but as I said I'm going to keep it low, but considering how good the following's atmosphere and story, I think we might be in for a surprise

As shown in Dying Light 1 the virals were still conscious and they also speak occasionally in moments where they have a semblance of control, they also refrain from biting as they hold on to their humanity. Biters also have some remanent of humanity left even as they rot, they like to give a little hello with their left hand before going back to trying to bite your face off.

Well as cool as it'd be to see Kyle as like the "king volatile" the devs did say that original characters wouldn't be returning. However the idea of a hidden faction as some sort of twist would be pretty cool, and works pretty well with the whole "stay human" and choices that impact the story. Assuming it's true perhaps you are presented with the choice to lose your humanity or "stay human" sorta like a reflection of the ending choices of dying light 1. Do you decide that perhaps maybe this is humanity's next step in evolution and decide to join em or remain human and continue fighting to restore civilization.
