RFID has become an everyday tool. In #TheFactory we have been developing a PiicoDev RFID reader so you can get cracking on your own RFID applications. In today's episode we share some of the experience gained while navigating the high frequency engineering required to make an RFID reader function.

Cool. Now, please do the same with the PN7150 chip in the same form factor. You understand the process, so it should be a piece of cake.

Ever consider computer simulation for the antenna/coil design ?

Amazing! I absolutely love how compact and concealable it is! I would love to attach one of these to a lipo pico for potable use. Looking forward to the future of this project :3 Keep up the great work!

Fantastic video guys ! It’s got me thinking of building a new alarm for my shed and use the RFID along side a keypad to arm/ disarm it ( can use either to arm / disarm it but the keypad could be mounted in a less conspicuous place and used as a back up ) I think the RFID would be more convenient . I think the fob / card unit is pre programmed so I’m guessing that one can use the reader to read this data so it can be used in the sketch ?

rfid is easier for opening doors and etc. but also rfid is pretty unsecure because you can sometimes bruteforce rfid signals and also people can also clone the rfid signal from your card. there is allot of simple hacking tools online that people can use to do these attacks like the flipper zero and etc

It turned out very well, I'm trying to integrate the circuit into my board. Do you think I could replace components 0603 with 0805 to facilitate manual soldering? or would it influence the functioning of the antenna?

You can solder 0603 just fine.

i would love to see a chip burn up lol is there a faster way to write/read in bulk than doing it 1 by 1?

Do you have a base model that I could add to my Arduino nano and connect custom antenna (various looped copper coils) to? I want to try various different antenna sizes and strengths, but don't want to have to create a custom board each time....

We don't, but when we launch this product (real soon) the PCB design will be open sourced - you'll be able to modify it to create the testbed you're after.

@@Core-Electronics that is awesome. Is there training you could recommend on creating the testbed?
