This is the first ep of the FOL, on the pilot which was the S1 finale of DS there were some cast differences. For example there was a different head master and Natalie and Cindy were not on the pilot and neither was the Jenny O'Hara character (who was quickly dropped after the first 4 eps) and there was another girl that sort of resembled Natalie that was included. According to the cast interviews from the S1 DVD the main character was originally supposed to be Nancy but after the pilot that was changed.
@nassauguy483 жыл бұрын
The character of Blair was just too dynamic, and that is why Nancy faded into the background. Felice Schachter (Nancy) said in an interview that she was disappointed from the very start when she saw what was happening to her character. Jenny O'Hara (Miss Mahoney) was simply not necessary to the show, as more than two adult characters proved to be too much.
@hadihatab31263 жыл бұрын
The original headmaster was Mr Crocker and Blair played guitar and smoked.

Man, Arnold was just so good! I loved his character, and his voice honestly gives me joy. I thought he was a little boy the whole time, but in reality, he's older.

I always found it odd that Kimberly was never seen at school on TFOL after this. Arnold and Willis were, but no Kimberly - even though she went to Eastland.

Dana Plato had behavior issues that kept her off the show. I don't think Charlotte liked her much and thought she could be a bad influence on her girls.

@@scottthorn6858 Which I never found to be realistic. Okay, the public school in their neighborhood was probably very good, but a man with Mr. Drummond's money would still have sent them to a posh private school. Unless he was trying to teach them to be humble?

It's amazing that things have changed so much that the description of this episode can now explicitly say that Blair thinks Cindy is a lesbian... 😂😂 The actual episode is very vague about it. But the best thing about this episode is that it doesn't just vaguely imply that Blair thinks Cindy is a lesbian, but also implies that Mrs. Garrett is aware of it too, that Cindy thinks she might be a lesbian herself, and that she might actually BE a lesbian but that it doesn't matter 👀👀👀 And they did it all so vaguely that people who might not have been open to that subject probably just missed it.

@@lamontyaboy718, I wish they would have made more guest appearances, the 4 other girls. I didn't care for Jo.
@hadihatab31263 жыл бұрын
@@lamontyaboy718 there’s a documentary about what happened, it was just that there were too many girls on the show and they all had similar personalities, so they got rid of 4, ironically Felice Schachter who was hired first was let go but they made appearances here and there in seasons following but they ended up being replaced by Jo in season two to sort of be the opposite of Blair.
@garycollins77503 жыл бұрын
The problem was NBC was in such a hurry to get the show on the air it wasn’t really planned out very well. Originally it was pitched with Edna Garrett as the starring character and adult figure, but also added were a female teacher, a male administrator and 7 largely undefined female students the usual TV tropes the tomboy, the spoiled princess, the blabber mouth etc and they all started to overlap.
