*UPDATE* Hey all - glad to see that people are generally enjoying the video! Anyways, like I mentioned in my recent update video I'm traveling for most of June in Europe. Luckily I brought a facecam with me, so I may upload a few Elder Scrolls Q&As and vlogs, but unfortunately I won't be able to make normal videos until I get back on June 20th. Sorry about this y'all! Will be back on a consistent schedule soon as I get back. Thanks as always for the support and enjoy your day :)

Thanks for sharing this information with us! Have fun on your adventure!! I am guilty of never playing any of the other Elder Scrolls games other than Skyrim (and some TESO if that counts), thus I have missed so much of the fundamental knowledge from the earlier games. *One* additional thing I'd like to add: The Eldergleam has some similarities to Nyralim (Kingdoms of Amalur), Nordrassil (Warcraft), and Yggdrasil (Forgotten Realms). Perhaps all of the answers we are searching for lay within the World Tree... if only we could speak with it...

So there are Nymphs, Dryads, Centaurs, and we already know Minotaurs exist in the Oblivion game. We're only missing Fauns, Satyrs, Griffins, Dwarves and talking animals, and then we'll have most of the creatures from Narnia. That's it, Narnia was the previous cycle before Tamriel. It all makes sense.

the elder scrolls allready has dwarves..... or atleast the dwemmer are called drwarves by the races of men...
@O-P-967 жыл бұрын
+bas de groot They are dwarves in their setting (aka in the Elder Scrolls Universe), however they aren't physically close to LOTR dwarves or Narnia dwarves. They're a different race of Mer after all (like the Falmer for example). Their lore might have some similarities with LOTR dwarves (and by extension Warhammer Fantasy dwarves, with the whole living in huge underground cities, advanced society), but otherwise that's it. Then again Narnia dwarves don't have much lore apart from being portrayed as blacksmith, archers or being rather strong (most dwarves seen in the Narnia movies carry a two-handed weapon, though some also have shields). Plus, Dwemers also share with LOTR and Warhammer Dwarves another common point which is that they have lost a huge part of their once vast large kingdom (though in the case of the Dwemers it's different since they disappeared rather than lost their cities to the enemy), and their ruins are inhabited by monsters for all of them (Falmer for Dwemer ruins, Orks or Gobelins for Warhammer Dwarves or LOTR dwarves).
@basdegroot84127 жыл бұрын
you are right, but I already knew what the dwemmer really were , I just wanted to point out that "dwarves" already exsist in the elder scrolls wich I know is common knowelege, I would honestly think that LOTR like dwarves would be kinda out of place in the elder scrolls, I never really saw the the similarities of LOTR-ish dwarves and dwemmer but you make a good point....... I kinda hope the next elder scroll game takes place on the summerset ilses so we can see some sea elf action...... (sorry for bad englisch)
@O-P-967 жыл бұрын
+bas de groot don't worry I understood what you meant about the Dwemers bring dwarves. I was just pointing out that in comparison to the common dwarf archetype in Fantasy (as seen in either Narnia or LOTR, though the LOTR representation is more common, at least physically) the ES dwarves were rather far from the rule, although they did have some similarities. And you're kinda right about LOTR dwarves being out of place in the Elder Scrolls universe. One thing I like about the Elder Scrolls is that it's not just the video game adaptation of the basic fantasy "rule book" if we can call it that: you know the whole thing about humans are supposed to be like this, dwarves must look like that, Elves must be like this, etc. In the Elder Scrolls you can put every race into three categories: humans, Elves, and beast-races. And even inside each of these categories you can still single out every race. Bretons and Imperials are humans but they aren't really the same, since they have their own special traits. It's not like in WOW where the humans are a sigle race (at least from what I remember). Here in ES you have several human races. Same goes for the Mer and the beast-races. As for Elder Scrolls VI, there's a rumor that it might take place in Valenwood (which is the Wood Elves country), though it's not yet in development (since apparently they're waiting for the technology to be more evolved, which has led some to believe that perhaps they could include two countries instead of one).

You know, I've put a lot of thought into what I'd personally like to see in VI and this actually isn't a bad example. Something old that we don't really understand resurfacing and how that affects the world is always a solid plot device. They wouldn't have to be antagonistic even, or the central focus of the main event chain. Since they've left us so little to go on with them yet implied they bore such great importance, they could be used in the game in any number of ways, big or small. From a mere mention in a side quest to something pivotal to everything, I'd love to see them make use of the faerie and other mysterious beings in Elder Scrolls VI. There's plenty of ways they could even use them as a way to make the player character the chosen one.
@roshankredemption25107 жыл бұрын
I 100% agree with you! It might be a little repetitive since it's sorta the same as the dragons from Skyrim, but the Faerie are very different from the dragons so I would be okay with it. Hope the Faerie make some sort of appearance eventually! Thank you for commenting :)

I really hope the next TES is in Valenwood like the current rumors think it, even tho the game isn't even in development so it's hard to say if it will be or not. But much like the elves from Lord of the Rings, the elves in Skyrim interest me so much, Bethesda has so much lore to dig into there and I'd rather have them make a game about it before ESO decides to alter more lore to fit the game. Truth be told, I love ESO and got about 700 hours on it and seeing the few elven provinces in the game that it has so far was pretty amazing. Alot of the scenery match the lore but I still want to see a dedicated single player TES where one of the elven races (excluding dark elves; Morrowind) are the center point of the plot.

This is why I am beginning to hate Bethesda, they have all of this good lore and so many races just waiting to be put in a game but they use none of it. They could even make a separate game series within this universe that has nothing to do with the Elderscrolls, like a game where the Elves are at war with the upper hierarchy of fairy folk at the very early age of the cycle. I would love to see Arkane Studios work on an Elder Scrolls spinoff game, especially on a lore driven game based on the Aldmer battling the other faeries. Love the lore videos btw, this extra information is actually more interesting than the boring main stories they put in the actual games. The only stories within the games that really kept me interested were the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles stories. Shivering Isles is by far the best story within a rpg I've ever seen, that entire campaign showed more of the supernatural outside of Tamriel than any other ES game ever has tbh, and I wish they did more of that than the constant boring power grab story over Tamriel that Bethesda keep using in their games.
@roshankredemption25107 жыл бұрын
malbhet Thanks for the kind words and the insight! I actually agree with you, but just to play devil's advocate, there is such a thing as too much, and sometimes it's good to save things for later. Perhaps the faerie will return, but Bethesda is just saving them for later? Regardless, I do agree with you that Bethesda isn't capitalizing enough on their own lore. There is such a thing as too much, but Bethesda has been airing on the side of too little attention to the lore for certain. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts!!!
@superlukey37 жыл бұрын
I recognize this has almost nothing to do with your actual point, but the Elder Scrolls themselves are almost never that important in the series. As far as I know the only times they've become relevant much at all are in the Thieves' Guild of Oblivion, the main quest of Skyrim, Dawnguard, and super high-level abstract discussions of the lore. Other than that, yes, I do believe they should capitalize more on the interesting lore they have. I'd like to see a Sload(?) invasion, a game involving Akavir, information on Lyg, and something involving the more abstract elements of the lore. Edit: What would be REALLY cool, though I recognize it can truly never happen, is if the sixth Elder Scrolls game is apocalyptic in nature, with the universe crumbling around the Elder Scrolls themselves. Why? The world has split into so many different forms that it can no longer exist in its current state - because we, the players, have brought our characters on so many different journeys, the Elder Scrolls can no longer contain records of all that is or could be. It's provide an in-universe explanation for the bugs, too.
@jegvids1017 жыл бұрын
I think TES should go beyond the games, and start having books, comics, ect. I don't think there going to be able to put all this lore into games.
@superlukey37 жыл бұрын
After thinking on it some more, I realized that the biggest problem with TES' storytelling is that it violates one of the central principles of fantasy narratives - I don't actually know what this principle is called, funnily enough, but it generally goes something like: "Is this the most interesting part of your world's history? If not, why aren't we hearing about that instead?" As a simple example, one could ask why Skyrim didn't take place entirely before the Dragonborn was captured and nearly killed at the beginning of the game. The answer is obvious: it wasn't until they were nearly killed, and saved by Alduin appearing, that anything particularly interesting happened to them, or at the very least their being the Dragonborn was a hell of a lot *more* interesting. That's also why Lord of the Rings isn't entirely about Frodo just chilling in his home before ever learning of the One Ring, or why Mass Effect: Andromeda was such a hard sell - with the former the interesting part hadn't begun yet, and with the latter the interesting part had ended already. However, LotR is actually a good example of this practice ignored as well - as anyone who has read the Silmarillion can attest, the world was far grander, the battles more epic, the monsters more powerful and more vile, in the era of Morgoth and the Silmarils. After all, if the Balrog in Moria was the weakest one of all, why couldn't we hear more about the stronger ones? The Elder Scrolls seems to have forgotten this principle entirely. Here's all this cool stuff - wars in the past, old gods and dead gods, beings that have never even been seen... but none of that matters. Instead we get stories which, while interesting, never so much as brush up against the more bizarre aspects of the world. This isn't the most interesting part of the story, Bethesda... why is this what we get?

I always hoped they would have done an expansion in skyrim to update the werewolves there was a book about a competition between sheogorath and hircine where they each brought a creature to fight against one another hircine spent a great deal of time and effort creating a monstrous creature and brought it to the fight while sheo brought a little bird and the bird won the expansion could have been hircine getting a rematch deciding that a mindless beast wouldn't be good so he hosts his own competition between all the different werebeast and the winner would then fight sheos creature and the winnner of that would get some upgrades (the ability to change in and out of were form at will and the totem abilities being selectable) I hope they add something like this in the next game

From what I understand *while the eight (9...) divines are the greatest spirits, they are most certainly NOT the only ones,* there's literally (what has been implied) hundreds of thousands (if not millions or billions) of "lesser spirits" roaming about. *Each spirit varies in power, influence, reputation, temperament, likes and dislikes, desires, creeds, oaths, domains, abilities and etc.* I also think spirits are very capable of having numerous offspring, either through "traditional means" (sex) or more more bizarre ways (blood drops, "tainted lettuce", pieces of themselves and etc.)

So, Roshank. I am interested to learn how or why these creatures became semi linked with nature, such as spriggans. Also,how are they put into a heirarchy, or in other words, what made them have their places in said heirarchy. Is it a scale supernatural and/or physical power, is it intelligence, or is it birth right? Lastly, do they have rulers? If so, how do they come into power? Through ritual, great deeds (like in the Isles of Skellige in Witcher 3 With Blueboy Lugos, Cerys An Crait, Hjalmaar, etc.), by competition, birthright, what? Thank you for reading this and replying if you do! :) (Also, I'm subscribed).
@roshankredemption25107 жыл бұрын
The hierarchy is in terms of strength/power. So it's humans and elves looking at these creatures and putting together a hierarchy in terms of their power, if I understand correctly. Heh it would insult the elves, mainly the high elves, to learn that they are actually a mix of man and faerie heritage. Think about it. Men washed ashore the Summerset Isles after a sever storm in the ancient past are helped by the faeries, over time they develop relations with each other and this gives birth to the Aldmer race which then created all the other elven races.

Maybe, but if that is the truth I think the high elves will try to hold onto the belief that they are the descendants of the divines and not of men. It may even split the Summerset Isles into factions. One that accepts their true heritage and the other rejects it. I kinda like my theory.
@jacobfreeman54447 жыл бұрын
I rather like this. It would put in perspective the connection the elves have to other spirits of the planes of existence in TES. There is obviously such a connection as some daedric beings do look elfish even though elves are supposedly entirely of the Aedra. So maybe they all fit in some kind of Fae hierarchy that the knowledge of has been lost to the more mortal races of Nirn. Even explains what the connection between men and elves is. Men just are the race that just have the strongest connection to Mundus. Elves, perhaps, just maintained the Fae connection to other planes. Or maybe there is no underlining reason to it all and I am looking for reason and order inside absolute chaos xD

@benjaminray27 жыл бұрын

@roshankredemption25107 жыл бұрын
The Lunar Lorkhan I haven't read anything on the daedra specifically, but from what I understand the entire universe resets to the start of the dawn era, and this is before the daedra existed (since the aedra/daedra split took place after Lorkhan's treachery). The realms of the daedra are an extension of the daedra's being, so if the daedra didn't exist yet, their realms didn't either. Well technically they did exist, but not specifically as daedra. This is a bit of a complicated question so let me do some research and get back to you. You could also consult teslore or other sources, who would probably be able to give you a better answer than me!
@benjaminray27 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's why I'm asking because Mrrhexx made a video specifically about Alduin and it sort of implied that a Kalpa would only apply to Mundus or perhaps even just Nirn, but I don't know where he got that, if I'm misunderstanding him or if he's just wrong.
