We won the second division in 1966. I had an ST in main stand throughout the 63 relegation and the three seasons in the second division. We had our lowest ever league gate (8015), for which I still have the program. You'd think it was terrible, but it was unforgettably wonderful.

I started going late 70s, some of the games mid to late 80s were dreadful with tiny attendances. I absolutely loved it. Thought it was terrific fun. Swales out every game.

@johnholden9556. My first game at Maine Road was in Aug. '62 V Aston Villa (Alex Harley's debut) I was on the scoreboard with my elder sister, My Dad was in his usual seat in Block H of the Main Stand. He had a season ticket from just after the war up until his death in 1970. He luckily lived long enough to see us win the ECWC. You are quite right John, it was unforgettably wonderful.

@@Sergio-ig1xd What I remember most (worst) about that season was waiting optimistically for our result on Grandstand, on the first Saturday, only to hear "and the young Wolves score eight". Oh dear. My dad took me as a toddler in 1952, he died in 77, the week of Belly's comeback. City has been a huge part of our lives.

@@tremensdelirious Supporting City back in those days you got a flavour of why people support small clubs who'll never win anything. The black humour was priceless, the simplicity of deciding to travel at the last minute, and knowing you'll get in, and every so often a magical promotion season.

@@Telssa1 must’ve been about 20 of us all from Mossley and we would just muck about on the Kippax for two hours, the game was more of a distraction. Then it was outside too campaign against Peter Swales. Odd police dog and if you were lucky a horse, to add in a bit more excitement

I remember back in 99’ when United had just won the treble. I was a City the only fan out of my group of mates, I’d have given anything to just at least have my team win at least an FA Cup before I died or even a League Cup. My friends would all banter me, “keep your little 3rd division title, we’ve just won the treble”. Looking back on it now after all these years, now that City have just won the treble and have become the best English football in recent years. I wouldn’t swap my football journey for nothing. United can keep their “history” their endless trophies, their night in Camp Nou. This teams runs through my vein’s always has done. CTID💙💙💙

A story that I've experienced since my first season ticket aged 11 in 1979. My two best experiences as a fan prior to 2012 - the 5 - 1 battering of United in 1989, and the penalty win against Gillingham a decade later in 1999, two great days.

Thank you for sharing the history of the club. I love hearing stories about City and players who played for us. I was not always a football fan but when I moved to Stockport I did have respect for the club and it’s loyal following. I started following City because of my little boy who had friends who were City fans. He and I have shared many moments following City and he was only little when City won the Prem for the first time. It has been a rollercoaster but I wouldn’t change a thing.

It was 1966 when I began supporting City after the World Cup win for England, I was a mere 7 years old and knew little about football, but I can remember all the players of the time, we acquired Colin Bell and Francis Lee! Tony Book and Joe Corrigan are well remembered along with the Manager who turned City around back then, Malcolm Allison! It was a great time, but we had heartbreaks too on the way to greatness, but it was all worth it to wait for Pep to make his career and become the best manager City has ever employed! I live in a blue house!

True genuine Fairytales in Football include the following classic underdog stories where rank outsiders triumphed against all odds: Nottingham Forest winning back to back European cups in the late 1970's to early '80's. Aberdeen winning the Cup Winners Cup against Real Madrid as well as overcoming Celtic and Rangers for 3 Scottish Titles in the 1980's. Leeds winning the 1992 old English First Division Title. Porto winning the 2004 Champions League. Leicester winning the 2016 Premier League. Lille winning the 2021 French League

City fan since forever, having my first major city heart break in the 81 cup final, followed by years of being typical city. Hardly any blue shirts at school, all your mates utd fans, watching them win loads in the 90's. Never really knew a winning city as I was too young to remember the Bell, Summerbee, Lee era. Watching us yoyo in between leagues and the highlights of managing not to get relegated occasionally. Still had some great moments standing in the kippax and the elation of the Gillingham win. Never imagined we'd be there winning trebles, only club ever to do the domestic treble which seems to get over looked even though we're the only team in England to ever accomplish that.

May 1998 was 20 years in the making. During the 70s the club lost direction after the success of the late 60s. They were getting by with occasional top 4 finishes. The decline started in earnest when Peter Swales appointed Malcolm Allison in 1979 to bring back the glory days. There were several instalments on the way. The first being relegation by Luton in 1983. I was 18 and just got my first car. Someone smashed into the back of it on Oldham Road on the way to the match!
