I bought a Garmin Inreach earlier this year. One night we didn't lock up our 4Runner and someone stole it out of the glovebox. It was the only thing they took. When I noticed it the next morning I pulled it up online and saw it not far from our house and it was in someones living room. A call to the cops and I managed to get it back pretty quickly. Of all the things to steal they stole a gps tracker.

Oh, wow. I totally forgot to answer that in the video 🤦♂️. The heater worked great. Lowest setting all night, it got down to about 28 degrees overnight. Camper was probably 50-55 degrees. At MOST, the fireplace used 1/5 of my 10lb tank, which kinda blew me away.

Awesome as usual! I've been stuck in town for the last two weeks and have one more week and it's killing me! Events taking place one right next to the other. In a week I'm done and headed out to wherever I can get given the reality of a hard November being here. Your timing is impeccable. And you really nailed the fall plumage. Life passes to fast to not get out there. Thank you.

Fall camping is awesome especially since we can have real fires again. Lots of hunters out too so a good idea to have some hi-vis on if you’re walking a ways off from camp exploring.

What an absolutely STUNNING campsite. And that opening sequence was top notch. That DiGiorno sure looks like it beats the MRE pizza for sure! Having a heat source in cold weather is a game changer. My late September trip on the Oregon BDR allowed me to test our diesel heater for the first time. It got down into the upper 30s and man, was I glad I had it. I want to get out and camp during fall colors so bad, so had serious FOMO watching this!

They were SO good. And your tip to run the Dickinson at the lowest possible setting works great. Blows my mind how little propane it used running all night
@pala483322 күн бұрын
@@WheretoNextOverland Dialing in the Dickinson! I always carry a 2nd 11# tank, but I've never run the first one dry. It really is remarkable how little gas it uses. Once the weather's like this, I fire that baby up as soon as I level the truck and set it to Low-Low. We do dog walks, cook, whatever and it's always cozy in the Scout without any worry of overheating. And not having to relight it again at some point in the early morning is a god-send. Works so well for condensation too. I crack the roof hatch and a side window. The Dickinson just chugs along. Everything's cozy. Would love to share a campfire out there sometime. Hit me up any time if you're interested.

It makes me cringe every time I think about you stepping down onto that tote. 😬 It could be wet and slippery or not sit flat or it could slide around. Please look into a step that goes into your hitch receiver so that I can sleep at night. 😂😂.
@WheretoNextOverlandКүн бұрын
😂 yeah, that's totally fair. It's only a matter of time before I eat s**** stepping on that thing. A hitch receiver step would probably be a wise investment!

It is nice having a real fire, but you can find camp grounds empty and we have a propane fire pit that we use and I still cook over it, but yeah it's not the real thing but we have the whole campground to ourselves and our little girl can be off the leash and run wild. Thanks for sharing, I'll be watching your videos to see if it's a spot for us. So far it's been a bust for us where you have gone to, but love the videos, our wife's would probably get along great, but I don't want her to watch because she is going to want that body sleeping bag suit. Not sure what you call it, but I know she will want it if she seen it.

Payload, what payload? This Tacoma apparently identifies as a HD truck.
@WheretoNextOverland21 күн бұрын
@J_Medlin 🤣. I mean .... you're not wrong. The Alucab isn't THAT terribly heavy, though. It's nowhere near as bad as when you see a Taco with a 4WC or Scout camper on it. So, at least there's that haha

@@WheretoNextOverlandI still guarantee you're over payload though. Just you and the camper alone take up over half the weight allotted. You haven't factored in water, propane, armor, winch, batteries, etc.
@WheretoNextOverland20 күн бұрын
@J_Medlin i won't argue with you there. That's the story with pretty much every "built" 3rd Gen Taco though. Their rated payload is pretty atrocious.

@WheretoNextOverland22 күн бұрын
It does. You can pay monthly or annually ... I think it's something like $12/mo. You can deactivate it for months you don't plan on camping though, so there's that ...

I have one of the original DeLorme inReachs going back a decade or so. I think Garmin bought out DeLorme primarily for this technology. At the present time I sync it to a Garmin Overlander GPS. You can get the newer Garmin Trail model (think that's it's name) with the inReach built in. My wife and I have used the inReach to keep in contact with family and friends via text and bread crumbs tracking on their home computers While we've traveled all over the western U.S. Highly recommended! I think Garmin is in the process of rolling out a new payment process.
