@Flor_Us Kpop girl Group X Wjsn Ujung basically, the Soviet Union built a wall to make sure it’s citizens didn’t go to the non-Soviet part of Berlin. After a lot of revolutions in the 80s, the leader Mikhail Gorbachev started to loosen the borders, and the wall was set to fall after 40 years of it trapping them in.

It would be great but extremely unrealistic. Human nature is very tribalistic. Sometimes walls are necessary, like between the USA and Mexico. There are very bad people who would like to come into our country. The Berlin Wall split up an actual city in the same country though and was pointless.

Apparently what happened was (according to a German guy who was at my house the other week) a politician was given an announcement to make about the travel laws of going between East and West Germany but he misinterpreted the message so the way he said it basically just meant that you can go between the 2 sides of the country at your own will (Or something like that, I mostly just remember the basic information). So this guy was suppose to say the message at 3am, but instead he said it at 8pm when everyone was awake. And since it basically said they could go through, everyone started gathering at the Berlin wall. The thing was that there were only 2 guards, both of which has 20 bullets each, and the reason why there were only 2 guards was because everyone was that scared of what would happen if you tried to cross the wall, that most people didn't go anywhere near it. So, since the guards new they didn't stand a chance against all those people and that if they tried to shoot any of them then they'd just run out of bullets and get shot, they put their guns down and just walked on through. And so everyone just went on through and started tearing the wall down. Also, if there was anyone who was there who wants to correct me on anything, please do.
@minchen_22655 жыл бұрын
True Story. The name of that man who misinterpreted the message was Günter Schabowski and he was the spokersperson of the SED. And people didn't just gather at the wall in berlin but at all the checkpoints through the country. The first civillian to cross the border from east to west and back was a woman named Annemarie Reffert in Marienborn which was the cross-border between saxony-anhalt and lower saxony. She saw the news and wanted to give it a spontaneous try. So she and her daughter drove up to marienborn and told the surprised guards that she just wanted to hop over to buy some beer and than be back. The guards were totally confused, didn't know what to do and in the end let her pass. They actually thought that she wouldn't come back anyway. But she did as she told. Her papers from back then can be viewed at marienborn.

Just one more thing to add on, after seeing the supposing strong Berlin wall collapse, the whole Stasi department abandoned their post, fearing the Hungarian Revolution angry mob.
@wanderlustworldschooling5432 жыл бұрын
Pretty much true. The spokesman didn’t look at the notes thoroughly before the regular broadcast. Wasn’t prepared for the follow-up question about when the new travel measures would take place. They were supposed to take place the following day- when offices were open and people could easily apply for necessary documents. Previously they could apply- but it was stupid expensive, lots of red tape and most weren’t approved. Officials actively coerced those that applied to withdraw their applications. So the new measures were supposed to make it easy. Without thinking he said ‘now’ so people just started heading to the wall. Guards along the wall obviously had no idea what was happening since it was an accident on the live news broadcast. So guards didn’t know what to do or how to respond. Some even told the wall jumpers how to dismantle the top barriers easier.

@CynnamonVA8 жыл бұрын
Ædrick The Paladin As much as I'd love to see that happen to the whole Kim family, they worship them like gods, to the point where I'd say North Korea's religion might as well be renamed to "Kimism" (my lame attempt at making up a name :P). As an example, if you watch footage from Kim Jong-Il's funeral, you'll notice everyone crying. The majority were actually crying for the loss of their "Great Leader." As for the minority, they had to fake cry, because apparently, not paying "adequate respects" to the leader is punishable by death. That, and they've cut off ties from the rest of the world (except Cuba, from what I know), especially South Korea, Japan, and the United States because...grudges. In conclusion, though I really hate to say this, I don't see a Korean unification coming anytime soon, or anytime at all, for that matter.
@daredevilshelton18 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I wrote this a while back before relations grew more toxic. I saw then and I definitely see now that there is really no hope of reunification. What is, is and it is foolish to dream at this point... I had hoped then that some of the populous would resist. But their numbers are too few....

The wall went up on my 15 th birthday 13 August 1961. I was there when it came down ---------- 9 November 1989 we could not find a hammer, and /or chisel anywhere to chip at the wall. As I drove down the transit road going into West Berlin. from the West Hand-painted, welcome banners were hanging from the bridges. I was in tears. it was so moving. I was taking a 1957 Triumph T110 motorcycle I had restored to my friend Jurgen who was living in West Berlin. We were so lucky to be there at such a momentous occasion. Rioting and partying was going on all over the city cars were on fire abandoned east German Trabant cars were everywhere they had run out of petrol Most of them were being used as skips when we went back at Christmas and new year 1989

Germany has grown to be one of the most successful and powerful nations but their past has always ruined their reputation. They are one of the most resilient peoples and demand respect for what they've overcome. They deserve our love. 🇩🇪

Germany is actually one of the only countries who actually paid reparations for their wrongs in history, and actually suppress anything like that from ever happening again in their country. Their past doesn’t define them at all, modern day Germany is nothing like the 1940s or Great War era Germany.

Inactivated: You mind is like you username "Inactivated" - you said "we must but we dont do" it is your futile thinking, which is a sheer malarkey. I have seen majority of people who try to tear people down by saying gloom-ridden things - nature helps to the people who have genuine will to help others.( to destroy the darkness, just a single ray of light is enough - remember this) Also, your narrow minded thinking is so evident from you thoughts, it seems you have no hope in anything. I - a common man, who at least thinks - for the chaos in the world should stop or the discrimination (what i have done for my Human Family , i am well aware of it ) or all such inhumane activities in the world, but you my friend - your body, mind and soul continues to be "Inactivated". If you don't think positive, how can we create something positive. One Last thing -In life , Always be a part of Solution ......never ever be a part of Problem - or at-least be with the people who are trying to find the solution. Peace for you and lots compassion.
@nikhildhasaal9 жыл бұрын
I m not blaming just you, when i say you, when i say "you" it means all those who are thinking like you - People, Government and so on.......but, if there is a problem and if someone is thinking of sorting it out, why would you stop, that person from thinking positive......thats only my point to you. no offence taken and no offence give. Peace and love to brother

DaimondSutra Peace is not the answer and can never be. What makes us human demands us to make action and to hurt. Sometimes, people need to be stamped out. People must be killed.......... But yeah not in this case. BE ADEPT BE ADAPT
@nikhildhasaal9 жыл бұрын
David, it’s a sweeping assumption made by you….... .Peace is not the answer and can never be - you getting judgmental here my friend, peace is the essence of Humanity. Is peace not the dominant factor in our families, with our loved ones, with our relatives, with our friends with our neighbors, and it goes on and on If it is not present - chaos has to be prevalent 24 hours. Peace is unspoken law of nature - and we are part of nature, right? So how can we say peace cannot be the answer. It’s a human society, who has created an ambitious mind, which compels us, to what you said - “What makes us human demands us to make action and to hurt. Sometimes, people need to be stamped out. People must be killed.......... If we live in peace, only then it will be possible to die in peace - give a minute thinking about this. Peace
