I've actually never tried clotted cream (I'm from the U.S.), but I would really like to try it sometime. I probably would do jam first and then the cream for three reasons. One, consistency. The jam is thicker, but can be relatively evenly distributed if put down first. Two, personal sensitivity to sweetness. A little punch of acid and sweetness can go a long way. Three, it's the fluffy texture of the clotted cream that looks uniquely desirable and craveable in this type of combination.

When did chips become part of afternoon tea? Just more carbs added to a totally overloaded starch meal! Nevermind, you were amazing, Leah M'dear😊
@andrewgrant6516Ай бұрын
Looking at it practically, it depends on the viscosity of the cream and the jam. Whichever is thicker should go on first so it can be spread, followed by the looser substance dolloped on top, otherwise the loose substance lubricates the one that needs spreading and both slide off. Basically, whatever toppings you choose for a scone, savoury or sweet, the aim is to make a column of decreasing density from the scone upwards.
@brianhall98936 ай бұрын
