In Russia in the early nineties, the dendy sold very well. Moreover, it was advertised on TV and presented as an original licensed set-top box. We didn't know then that it was a pirate clone of the NES. Outwardly, she looked like a famicom. There were a lot of pirate games, including Mortal Kombat, and we also didn't know that these were pirate games. Some games were impassable due to incorrect copying or hacking, there were cartridges with 99999999 identical games.

In argentina we had lots of famiclones that looked like a megadrive 2 or thereabouts, including called "the terminator", also called "the ending man" in other countries

In India we have Terminator 2 ending man

Thats not real Dendy, just google how Dendy Classic and Junior boxes looked like. Also it didn't look like Mega Drive. You just bought a random modern 8-bit clone.

Magic Jewelry (tetris) is one of my favorite games of all time. I loved it. Such a nostalgic feeling. I loved Dendy.

Cool find. I would say a "modern" (20+ yrr old) Dendy. A time where there were still some quality standards.

Dendy famiclones were made in Taiwan for the Russian & east European market. Usually in the form of Mega Drive 2 (Asian variant). They're still more prevalent in Eastern Europe than the actual Sega Mega Drive II. Majority of folks here can't tell a difference between Dendy and Genuine Mega Drive II. On-line auctions, they're sold as "Sega console" name. If in the box, the yellow cart is included, proof positive that "Sega console" is a Famiclone✔️

The original Dendys did not look like Megadrives. They resembled the Japanese NES more.

@@spetcnaz83 Hmm... in former Yugoslav countries, Mega Drive 2 (Asians market version) case had Dendy brand on them, too. So, a Famiclone were sold under this brand, and then there are Mega Drive 2 case sold under a Dendy brand too. Knock off-of a knock-off!😄 Some Dendy devices were assembled in Russia, as well (in Dubna - Дубна́) by Tensor (Тенсор?). By that time, there were Famiclones sold as Kenga, Bitman (Lamport). After that it became a jungle, like the world of Pandora's (Pandora) Box. A JAMMA arcade boards clones from mainland China😵💫
@KenSch2020 Жыл бұрын
It is a Famicom clone but it looks like a Sega Genesis/Mega Drive 2. I think if they were going to make it a 8-bit system at least make it a Master System

Hi, I can't make Pokemon work on the X6 Console. All I get is a white screen. On the PC emulator VisualBoyAdvance I must change the Save type to Flash 128K (it's on Flash 64K by default) and that fixes it but idk how to do it in a console. Could you help, please? You are the expert. Thanks!

is a pirate dendy though? edit: is the actual system chip a blob or a pin package? (under the pcb?)
@3vi1J Жыл бұрын
Yeah - that's what I would have liked to have seen. I'll bet there's a epoxy blob on the underside of the board holding the cartridge port doing the heavy lifting, because all we see on this side of the boards are simple discrete electronics.

There were two “official versions”: Dendy Classic and Dendy Junior. Both made on Taiwan. The later one was an affordable version, but, interestingly enough, had better quality hardware. There were plans to make a third version called Pro. A small batch of working examples was made. However, it turned out to be too expensive for the majority, and the plans for mass production were scrapped. The one in this video is a bootleg of the bootleg ))) Sorry, bro.

I have nothing against 8 bit consoles but I dislike that they model it after a 16 bit and others that try to model after other consoles it just seems a bit misleading.

That's not the original Dendy at all. My friend had the original Dendy in 1993 and it was a clone of the Japanese NES, both looks and games wise.
