To explain for non Brits : As a British kid,one of the few things that made me want to throw a brick at the TV in the 1960's was 'The Singing Ringing Tree' [East German: Das singende, klingende Bäumchen] of which the kindest thing that could be said of it,was it was the kind of programme that intellectual adults might think their children would like. [I never met one that liked this!] This was one of a number of [cheap] east european soviet era tv imports for children in Britain at that time.
