Xqc's theory would be against the rules, but couldn't you make a mouse that was like a slinky. If one side of the slinky is always grounded then technically you could from the very start just slinky to the end. It would not be considered flying or jumping because it is touching the ground. Like they say in the video the maze is only revealed right as the competition starts. I imagine the mice are looking for an area with more than a certain amount of space on all sides, since the rest of the maze has walls at a fixed distance.
