According to those rules specifically I wouldn't interpret Macros as cheating. SMG should just implement the same macros so everyone has access to them. Would further divide mobile players unless they also get access to them but they don't seem to care about the speed difference enough to do something about it anyways.

Nothing about that wording clearly indicates macro usage to me. Maybe the "3rd party software that interferes with risk"- part, but if that includes macros it definetly includes ingame overlays (like discord or steam), some hardware control/assistence softwares (like amd or logitech software), etc. , which should likely get half the community banned

I sometimes wonder if they keep corner capping because they see many others do it as well. Should be obvious after 3 tries that it rarely works. A Bonobo would figure that out quickly.

If I didn't watch risk video on KZbin, I wouldn't know a thing about risk strategy. I imagine it's the same for many noobs. Games are long, It's difficult to remember everything and learn from your mistakes.

Interesting, so you could use a tool (python has tools) that can drive the GUI around. let's say I press key+# meaning, leave # soldiers by auto scrolling to until number 3 is on screen and proceed. likewise, you could do that for 60, the GUI driver can scroll VERY VERY fast to the number 60 and move on. I'd need to test this. I think that would be considered a Tool Assist and can actually give you an unfair advantage but the usability may be limited. I may have to play around with this :D

I did actually set-up that same tool to see if it would work, and it does, but it's not fair play. The logic is that if other players can't access to it through the game then it is not fair play. Still stupid that the game mechanics are such an obvious limitation (chosing the number of troops you want to leave on a territory based on the current situation is very much part of the game, literally counting up or down to those exact troops really should be irrelevant)

Bro enter enter works great and with very little repetition you can get fast enough to run the largest maps in 60 seconds. It’s all about the brain processing speed when it comes to Risk. No macros needed

I think what truth uses is just a button on his mouse that rapidly presses enter. I think the quick scrolling he does is not macros and rather features of using a gaming mouse. I think is most time based games, even a button spam like that would be considered cheating, but with no ruling in risk it is a grey area. As for weather these are unfair, I think anyone with risk on a computer could set these up. What is unfair is that mobile it actually prevented from reaching these speeds even with macros.

not all grandmaster are skilled , fast , and smart most of them win by just bore you to death because they win only by stalemating doing nothing to progress the game until they are in one vs one . Learned that lesson and I did some counter measure and I very succeeded in beating grandmaster in three separate games by giving them third at most and I am only a master . Ofcourse Kyle and Pete are a true grandmasters

You know that you play against good players, when they come up with some absurd card block ideas, I once got cardblocked bye a master, it was a 9 point card block. Got out of it, was still a 3 player game but yeah, I knew he was good. I think in Europe advanced the skill you need to master above anything else is cardblocking. If you are good at cardblocking and avoid getting card blocked you can win almost anything

Having seen what can be done with a mouse watching Andrew Tang play some bullet chess I wouldn't be so quick to conclude on blue. But then again I don't know the patterns associated with using macros

The biggest barrier to speed is the Risk UI doesn't always register your inputs. Macros are just way more consistent. At least on lichess when I move 20+ times a second the site registers all my moves

Yeah there is a maximum speed you can attack or else the game won't register your clicks.. you can get very good and quick with a good pacing, but there are some players that have macro'd it our perfectly to get the maximum speed possible so they can just hold a button down and drag the mouse around.

part of it is gui lag rather than human lag. the risk ui, especially when splitting, is a lot slower than hyper-optimized bullet chess website UIs

My macro is really good now I've got really fast and I use arrow key on keypad to split because my hand shakes while splitting troops but not when clicking territories I think is because while splitting I spend too much time thinking 😂

In gaming, a macro is when you preprogram a set of multiple inputs into a single input. So the player has a program that does all the scrolling and clicking for a split for them, making it much faster and easier

In my mind there is likely only like 5 people that attack at this speed, and are likely all top players that respect the rules of the game, so in that case I would assume they would not knowingly play with me in ranked and break the rules. It seems I could be wrong though and there could be many more people using macro and arrow keys to attack this quickly

You only have to leave the troops you risk on an attack. Hence why 3 is almost always the split. The contrast here is that a 'one dice slider' is when you intentionally slider to attack with 1 die instead of 3, which lets you split off only 1.

If you select to roll against the territory with one dice, the odds are not excellent, but if you win, you only move 1 troop over. I believe this is the same as OG Risk board game rules.

Macros are computer scripts. People write these Macros or scripts for any number of reasons like auto farming/grinding or preforming an action very quickly. I’m not an expert so I don’t know the specifics about how the code would look, but there are great videos about it and a lot of widespread examples of it.

Yep. Google can explain. Do a search on it. Without being specific, its third party software. If you wanted to do left arrow, right arrow, up arrow, K,J,P by clicking the right mouse button, that would be easy to do as just an example that doesn't pertain to Risk. You can also have overlay buttons on the screen that you can press to do whatever functions, etc. Type It In for windows is a rudimentary example of script buttons.

Great thumbnail! But I think this macro and speed approach shouldn’t be in this game. It makes it a different game… this unlock all the speed is against the spirit of the game. What skill of diplomacy or tactics does a faster mouse prove. I have been out of playing this game for this reason and the lack of decency in tournament practice. I like the you tube games but actually playing is a waste of time.
