Great job on hanging in there. Determination. We have to stick around long enough to see the results.

It's possible, just be willing to relocate to a non-big city where nothing is going on. If that's you, then go ahead. Looking at today's jobs, there are at least three openings for permanent drivers. But if you look at the locations, it's not a place to live if you want to be able to do stuff here and there, plus family and friends, etc. I just recommend sticking it out. Now, if you don't care about none of that, you want to get your bread and leave, then go ahead, it's possible.

Normally it’s harder to become a driver @ non big city. There is less positions and less retirement to move up. Most drivers at my center came from smaller centers

I’ve been working for UPS for about three years and I’m only 21. I’m definitely considering on signing up for it once I graduate College.

@@BrickedOutMediaThank you sir! I was told that the bid sheet for driving will be open this summer, which is around the corner and I plan on graduating during that time as well. I’ve been learning the 5s and 10s method too. I hope everything goes to plan for me! I do live in Oklahoma.

I just applied and I got an interview and I started working for them as a full-time driver so it does happen I guess this information is probably old cuz I applied and I just started working with them after I finish training.

When did this happen? Are you still driving?

Information isn't old. Was it a permanent position off the street?? If so, that's the exception and very rare. That doesn't make the information invalid.

This will be my third season, my first season was as a helper, then last season I drove and I’m going to be driving for them at a different warehouse location. I picked up my uniform yesterday and signed union paperwork (I haven’t had to sign union paperwork before so it’s kinda looking like I may be kept after the season, but I don’t know if it’ll be for a driving position). The other location I was working for had people telling me I have a better chance of getting in as a driver because they have people quitting all the time, I don’t know. I just need a job and I need them to tell me when I start already lol

Congrats!! Way to be persistent. Yeah, as soon as you can, find out what's your classification. Or, you might be able to log into USPERS.COM with you employee ID and you might be able to find your classification on there. Keep us updated!!

@@BrickedOutMedia thank you. I’m gonna keep pestering until I get my start date. During the road test I was asked if I was looking into driving feeders since I have my cdl a, but I’m just trying to get back in to this place and stay working a job. They make it hard to get a steady job that isn’t inside the warehouse lol, you gotta be lucky to get a driving job or wait years and years it seems.

The bid list should go up the last 2 weeks of every quarter. I would sign it every time it goes up, because you can always turn down the position. But, sign every time!!

It all depends on which building you're at, what their staffing looks like, and how many people that are inside who actually wants to drive too.

Hey, How long do you think it would take to be a driver at a heavenly populated hub?
@BrickedOutMedia
@BrickedOutMedia 8 ай бұрын
A permanent driver? It depends on the seniority order in your building and how many of those inside people want to drive and what your seniority is compared to theirs. I would say no less than 2 years.

No one can answer this. Openings happen when openings happen. No formula exists and every center is different.

They get drivers from the street all the time. Warehouse position youll be looking at over 5 years wait while someone from the street can become a driver right away. They wont let you apply to those driving positions if you already in.
@BrickedOutMedia
@BrickedOutMedia 2 ай бұрын
But those driving positions aren't permanent positions, context matters.
