Lumion Pro for Students: ➫ bit.ly/3Eixp2g Also a few more tips for you guys: - If you want to a more stylized, all you gotta do is not add the realistic trees in Lumion, just use it to create a base render and adjust the materials using material ID to make selections in Photoshop. Then overlay textures and grunge maps if needed. It'll still be way faster than doing the whole process manually in Photoshop by itself. - Also note that when working for a company, clients often need a lot of changes, you won’t have time to start the whole Photoshop workflow over and over again. Doing it in a 3D Softwares is just way faster especially when you can update it automatically. Hope that helps!

Already figured this out a long time ago. I use revit and sketch up, but revit gives me the wall thickness in lumion. Friendly user tip, Use the section box in 3d in your revit model and it cuts the walls in lumion and you see that black thickness of any wall in your plans, sections, etc, then overlay the image in revit plans and sections and you get something beautiful. 😁👍 Nice tutorial as always.

Minh, I money was no object, which would you pick between Lumion, Enscape or Twinmotion?
@Muhammad-uk2xm2 жыл бұрын
I think lumion is good.
@ArchitectureInspirations2 жыл бұрын
Still Lumion to be honest. Twinmotion and Enscape still lack a lot of features that I need which Lumion provides. I know Twinmotion Library is huge because it's part of Epic Games but they need to improve the render settings in general. The amount of sliders and properties that you can use to control the look of your render is just lackluster. I know there's the new path tracing in the new version but the look still resembles that of a video game. While for Enscape the same can apply but with Chaos merging with Enscape, I would definitely use to for the early development of a project then if I need to, I can do final renders in V-Ray which I still use a lot. That's my take on it!

@@Muhammad-uk2xm I've read up a bit on D5. What scares me a bit is it's being developed with the originators of Maxwell. (Edit: Perhaps I'm thinking of another render engine as I see D5 is based in China) I owned Fryrender, that went bust. I had Maxwell but it needed and extraordinary amount time to get a decent result. I'll look again at D5. Lumion is just too expensive.

Great information, but to be honest, the photoshop plan renders and lumion renders are far apart, in photoshop , it is more than just realism , it's about illustration, activities and flexibility of plan information we want to convey, the trees, textures, furniture can be manipulated in different effects faster than lumion, lumion is better ofcourse in realism , but for plan renders, it's not necessary to offer that always. Nevertheless, great content!
@ArchitectureInspirations2 жыл бұрын
Agreed about the illustration style! Although that does not apply to real world jobs very much. No companies would let you spend hours and hours in Photoshop creating client images because one revision will make you restart the whole process over again. As for getting a more stylized effect, all you gotta do is not add the realistic trees in Lumion, just use it to create a base render and adjust the materials using material ID in Photoshop. It'll still be way faster than using Photoshop alone.
@ignaciocorimayo15262 жыл бұрын
@@ArchitectureInspirations i dont know if it is really that much faster to change the 3d model and re render than change the masks on photoshop for the new floorplan...
@ArchitectureInspirations2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the change. For example if your client wants a completely different layout of the room with different furniture then you bet I'll be moving that around in Lumion then just re-render it in Lumion. I was explaining the masking out part for people who wants stylized renders, which personally I don't think any client would really care for. I've worked in an office dealing with residential and commercial clients, they don't care if you have watercolor textures on your floor plans, they just want their ideas visualized. Unless you're talking about competition projects where you don't have the whole building planned out and need to convert a conceptual 2D Floorplan to 3D then Photoshop would be the way to go. But even when you're a student as a 4th or 5th year or even 3rd year to be honest, by the end of the semester you should have your building designed in 3D. Taking 2D floor plans of 3D models and doing it manually in Photoshop is just wasting time while getting a more "artistic" effect. In the time someone is mocking up 1 of their render in Photoshop I would have already finished the Lumion scene and ready to render 20 images if needed.
@ignaciocorimayo15262 жыл бұрын
@@ArchitectureInspirations for me the Photoshop part is half an hour. The render settings,get materials and complete model of a 3d building could be days. Hours if you already have the 3d model ready. I know that for really minor changes it is faster this way or if you already have all the model done for interior renders it save time. That without going to the part that a floorplan is a technic document and this is a render But on every other cases it is slower.

@ArchitectureInspirations Жыл бұрын
Most of the time architecture students already have a file finished already especially at the end of the semester or architects nowadays also have the file populated with furniture before rendering. Even if they don't, Lumion has a huge library, the user just need to take 10 minutes to place the objects. That's the point of using Lumion. Don't need any lights, my scene didn't have any.

@adoyer042 жыл бұрын
sry, but no. it absolutely depends on the style. floorplan in lumion? srly? looks a bit poor. first of all you know what will be shown on the presentation sheet/s and for a project and are looking for an outstanding look. ps/ai is mostly a winner. keep it simple. the usage of lumion is a one eye identification as what it is. for a better look you will end up using ps again. lumion for an raw and dirty visualisation purpose only - and with that its just a starting point for the ps work afterwards. lumion is a simple tool for simple looking, boring results.
@ArchitectureInspirations2 жыл бұрын
You're telling me to stand out from the rest of the people presenting you gotta do the same style as the rest of the people presenting?🤣 because literally 99% of the students do that nowadays. Hey let's throw it into Photoshop and then throw in some textures and some stylized entourage. Yup let's "stand out" that way. Even if that's the style your professor or your client is looking for, sure let's do that. Easy. Lumion + material ID, denature some materials, add patterned textures if needed, add stylized entourage. My render will Still look better than the ones right next to me. Even if it's a "starting point" my base layer will still look better than yours. And even if you amaze people with your Photoshop skills, you won’t use it in an architecture firm. imagine spending all your time doing a manual process when the industry now requires less and less time to render each view. You think your client needs your artistic take of watercolor textured floor plans? Why are you doing architecture "Representation" when the firm next to you is visualizing your client's vision? Unless you're talking about using Photoshop and Illustrator for projects that are not designed completely like in competition then sure PS and AI will work. But in the real world your boss and your clients don't care about your artistic Photoshop interpretation of a real world project. Good luck with that
@adoyer042 жыл бұрын
@@ArchitectureInspirations if you use lumion as main source (done it for a lot of projects) the outcome is like just unfinished. its just a basic layer to work with. visulization is also a thing. the sky for example (if you take it) is really ugly from its results. main thing is to get an quick, easy shadow which is on the pro side. im not impressed by lumion for what it is. easy to use, cheap looking. artistic: its selling part. watercolor is like 90s are calling. doing more landscape architecture btw.
@ArchitectureInspirations2 жыл бұрын
Oh then I 100% agree with you Photoshop and AI would be beneficial. Especially when you have all the assets ready for specific type of plants, etc. The landscaper in this case don't need amazing renders to see where they should plant the trees and where to place the stones but I do know a lot of big landscape companies do use Lumion for landscaping. Because the client still needs to see how it might look like in the end. Not everyone is good at imagining a space from 2D drawings. The reason why I got a lot of job offers on my last year was because I stopped doing collage with Photoshop. Most of my classmates were doing 2D floor plans of their complex designs thinking everyone else can read it and then a collaged elevation and a not so well rendered 3D scene just really don't flow well together. Even if they're amazing at Photoshop, which, believe me, I was; 90% of the time they won't be able to spend hours and hours in Photoshop to make a render in the real world. It's just unproductive for many companies to use that workflow. There's a reason why realtime renders are becoming more popular. Again, if you have a process that's already set up and ready to go for most of your projects, hands down PS and AI are the fastest way especially when the end user is not only your client but also someone who uses it to build out the landscape. This video is aimed towards students mostly, and my message is they gotta put down that Photoshop "pencil". Architects aren't digital artists, students gotta learn how to use architectural programs which Photoshop just isn't. There's a reason why so many graduates and end up hating the profession because they're so artistic in their own minds but end up not being able to show that in their company. Learn some BIM and learn a very quick way of doing a decent render, that's all they'll have time for.
