I raised dairy goats and always kept the males. They protect the herd and are companions to the main breeding buck. I swear humans make things too complicated. When I purchased a doe, I noticed a beautiful white Saanen buckling. I found out he was destined for slaughter, and my young buck needed a buddy. Best $50 I ever spent.

We use them in the USA to clean out brush, they eat anything its the perfect animal to clean out a lot somone let go wild, as underbrush is why fires spread so fast and burn so hot. Goats run wild by the black hills youll find a lot of grassy areas with no underbrush The male goats are usefelull. And goat poop is high in nitrogen its really good for your soils. Killing them like this is stupid. Someone has a use for a bunch of male goats. This is wasting them.

I agree with you. I raise a few goats and they are having babies right now. I treat them all with love and make sure they are safe and sound . We even take walks through our woods in summer just for fun. I have to sell some every year but I make sure they have a good life. I think family farms do treat their animals much better than factory farms because we can.

BTW, this video is overrated. Most farms do not have this. Our family owns and operates the biggest goat farm in BC, Canada, and nothing like this happens. I am been to many farms before, from family and not, and have seen everything about this farm, been to many Dutch farms, and I saw none of this. Yes, it is true that the goat kid is taken away from the mom after birth, but only the does. This is to prevent the doe kids from getting CAE, a disease where a goat gets swollen and crippled joints. When the kids are moved, they still have each other for company. And please do not make any comments if you have not a lot of farming experience or if you did not live/work on a goat farm

Very sad and disheartening. Goats have an immense value in farming- they can clear land in very little time and leave it well fertilized. Of course some of them end up as food for wolfes, coyotes and Eagles, but that’s nature. What science does teach us is that the gap between humans and other animals isn't as wide as human arrogance would make it, and science is proving that gap to be smaller all the time. I would be worth looking into the work of ethologist Frans de Waal, who's shown that non-humans have not only empathy, but morality as well. When we choose to be cruel and violent without need, then we are soulless creatures.

Since goat meat is popular around the world now, why would they not be raised to a suitable size and slaughtered for actual use not just to get rid of them. Even at 6 months dairy goats are a good size no matter the breed.

what do you actually think. Just because this video shares about how one goat farm operates, very few goat farms operate that way. I live/work on our family goat farm, (2000 goats), and the billy kids are raised to 70 pounds and then shipped for meat.
